A mystery coin is a coin that someone (or a group of someones) place in caches, mail out or add to donation tables at events anonymously. They are probably distributed in other ways as well. They are a gift (swag) if you find one in a cache. Consider a coin about $8-10 value when trading for a mystery coin in a cache. Someone placed a GeoJedi right in front of us on one of our tables at GWVI in California last summer and we have no idea who did it. That's the fun part! We have no idea how long it was sitting there for before one of us saw it. Well....Wow....that idea seems the best idea ever! hehe I'm getting to know more and more about this sport and loving it even more! Ok, excited now. My next project is to learn about events and maybe attend one when I can. Thanks for the info!

Silly question...What's a mystery geocoin and who sends them??

Well I just went and placed one of my coins in the sleeve it came in. I have yet to go and place the other one in it's sleeve. My first coin was deployed without any clothes! Hope it picks something up Thanks for the tips guys.

I was wondering how people deploy their coins? With the coin jacket...or just bare? Any thoughts on whats better? I personally deploy them bare. Is this bad? Will they be too dinged up to log?

Hi Guys, well, it seems that one of my travel bugs is MIA. I emailed the people who found the cache after I had and I hope they will email me back saying they forgot to log it! The other bug has been moved by a newbie, but still in their hands. Soooo dunno if it's going to get anywhere! lol They said they would place him in a new cache soon so...lets see. Today I went to a cache to specifically correct the fact that one guy moved a coin but couldn't find it's tracking number. I grabbed it and now it's corrected listed. Hoping some seasoned cacher will grab my bug when it's found in another cache. People need to be more through in their trackable moving skills!
