  1. I have a PN-20 and Dell Axim w/Cachemate we use for geocaching. Now I'm shopping navigation units for a vehicle that will allow me to add cache locations. From what I understand, adding these as custom POI's on Garmin units is done using "POI Loader". I'm looking at a nuvi 255W that according to specs accepts an SD card and up to 1000 waypoints/favorites/locations. What I am trying to accomplish is to create as pocket query based on a route, then import the .gpx to the Garmin and the PN-20, so we can locate some caches on our road trips this summer. Will "POI Loader" import the waypoints in the .gpx to the unit? Does Garmin then display "GCxxx" as the name of the POI? Is this stored on the SD card or is it internal? Appreciate the insight before I purchase.
  2. Thanks GoNorthWest. Picked up a couple for my daughter's Girl Scout Troop. Very appreciated!
  3. Only good until the end of the day. I just found it when I was ordering a shield for our GPS (Delorme PN-20). Figured I would pass it along. They make highly rated screen protectors for lots of "toys". Use code "SHOWSP09". Hope I put this in the correct forum... Heh, just in case https://www.zagg.com
  4. Hi Ducklingtonprimary and welcome! You'll find as many opinions as there are models of GPS units. You don't need to spend a lot to have fun, watch for used items as people upgrade. I'll second the vote for the Delorme PN-20 since that is what we use and have been satisfied. Good price (150ish) if you watch online discounters (Amazon, Buy.com, etc.) for sales. Has some advantages as far as mapping over similar priced Garmin's but there is a learning curve for the software. Good luck and have fun.
  5. We won? How cool is that! Thank you so much! Want to thank everyone for the kind words and of course Opalsns for the cointest. At first we thought the best part of geocaching was the "hunt and and find". It didn't take long to realize that the best part of geocaching is the people you meet along the way. Having only started a few weeks ago, we have made so many new friends online, in the field and at our first geocaching event on New Years day. And being newbies, we have had so many questions and found everyone extremely helpful and just plain "nice". Geocaching has been a very positive and healthy part of our new year. It's a great hobby and we feel very fortunate to be part of the geocaching community. Thanks again! Caching Ninjas
  6. We started this Christmas. Just a few weeks ago I stumbled across the website via a link. I had a heart attack this Halloween and as part of my rehab, needed to walk. Walking the subdivision, track or treadmill made me feel like a gerbil. Instead, geocaching provides exercise and adventure. The best part is it's something we can do as a family and my 11 year old daughter loves it.
