  1. Could be interested as long as there's plenty of others around to pull me out of the mud
  2. ..Err no! For some daft reason I forgot to check if there were any caches there before heading out, then stood at the top thinking.. "There's got to be a cache round here somewhere!" Should have got the PDA out, I guess. Never mind, shall be back soon! -------------------------------------- Back on topic...! Did this one at the weekend, which involved a little mild offroading, and linked it with some excelent greelanes in the area. It was a great drive, and a lovely place - worth checking out if you're in the area. James
  3. You often see just one shoe on the verges/central reservations of motorways, I find. Bizzarre.
  4. i remember this, but don't know how to locate a bookmark! there's an earthhcache near us called 'split and drop' or something which is down a greenlane. I think Stonefisk's bookmarks are all around the Cotswolds area... Went offroading on the Wayfarer trail in Wales today! found a metal box at the top containing a log book! but it wasn't a geocache, just a visitor's book. J
  5. ...Same for us - lots of 'local' caches showing as just a few miles away could be up to two hours drive if we have to drive 'around' the dee estuary! So my 'local' page will never quite be right. ...Most other local unfounds are Puzzle caches, which we seem to have a lot of on the Wirral but I'm not the biggest fan of them. Also, we seemed to hit a turning point last year where the number of new caches places exceeded our monthly find rate! James
  6. Mine is a picture of my freelander taken whilst camping at a VERY VERY cold campsite at the back of Llanberis during this year's Llanberis Mountain Film Festival (LLAMF). It's the first time I'd used it in deep snow and was really pleased to make it up the farm track into the hills, and across the camping fields. I added the Groundspeak 'squares' in Photoshop 7.
  7. Wow, never noticed that until I looked just now!
  8. Caches adopted Many thanks to all who offered, what a kind bunch you are. PMs Sent! James
  9. Morning all, Changes in responsibility at work and in general life mean that I can't find anywhere near as much time to spend on Geocaching as I did a few years ago, unfortunately. I don't even really go geocaching much unless I'm on holiday now, which is a shame. I still love the sport, though. Subsequently, I can't dedicate as much time to maintaining and looking after caches as I need to, in order to maintain quality. I'm asking if anybody would like to adopt my Wirral-based Maths Lesson Series (inc. Exam) before I archive them. I think all 5 boxes could do with a visit and a spring clean, there have been some reports of dampness. If I don't get any offers by the weekend, I'll archive and do a round-wirral trip and pick 'em up. We spent quite a lot of time designing the series so it would be a shame to see it go. You might like to take the series on or even expand on it? The caches are: Lesson 1 Lesson 2 Lesson 3 Lesson 4 The Exam ..I'll be keeping hold of my others, just needed to trim down the portfolio a bit. Let me know on here or email via my profile if you like. Thanks in advance, James
  10. Me too... Wow, you learn something new everyday! Can now see at a glance who's stayed up too late chatting on the forums!
  11. Not sure why people want to walk and get away from vehicles for caching. Most of the enjoyment for me is the drive off road Not sure why people want to stay on or near the ground, either on foot or in a vehicle, for caching. Most of the enjoyment for me is flying around and landing near one! Faid do's! Any advance on that?
  12. It's not large, but it's thirsty. And my conscience? I refer you to my earlier post.
  13. ..Exactly why I bought my 4x4 for caching and camping. I used to cringe why I had a nice new Astra SRi and would end up parking down bridleways etc. (as per cache instructions!) - It was too nice for that. The freelander gives as much MPG as the Astra did, just at half the speed. I save money now on speeding tickets! I enjoy driving safely, legally and considerately off-road, when it's appropriate. And if you every feel pressurised by the eco-argument, don't forget it's not all about your car. My Astra was just as 'unfriendly' because I drove it 'badly'. I recycle, insulate my house, buy energy-efficient appliances, car share and also use my vehicle for voluntary community services. But no-one ever talks about that on the 4x4 lobby websites!
  14. Yep, was at work by just after 7.30! Thermals packed. In fact... as I was driving in I though that I must be the best prepared motorist out here (purely by chance as I'm going camping tonight after work) as the car was packed with tent, sleeping bag, stove, crampons, ice ixe, winter outdoor clothing, etc. etc.! I was tempted to pull over and get a brew on!
  15. I spoke to soon! Carnage on the way into Chester this morning! 25min journey took over an hour. Cars spinning and sliding everywhere! Just a scattering back in Heswall but is about 4-5inches here in work. And I'm off camping in Wales tonight! Yey!
  16. Wow thanks! Learn something new everyday, guess I should have Wiki'd it to be fair. Going to be on the lookout for Ha-Has now. James
  17. Bet the view was amazing, I know where you mean!! Yes, you're right - when I got home there was some evidence of it! Nothing today though, it's cold crisp and bright.
