Script for Siloans Caches
Team 'James W' replied to NickandAliandEliza's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
A cache placed by the cacher siloans, it was asked for since he has placed 186 caches, and some people may like to see how many of his they and others have done. The script can now be used for any UK cacher, not just siloans. Edit to fix wrong tag use. Ahhhh.... Gotcha, thanks - Didn't think it would be that simple! James -
I'm glad they paid so much attention to the Wirral this time around, as they more or less completely missed it out in the first series! The bit where the Snowdonian ranger was explaining the cliffs on Thurstaston beach was just down from one of my caches, "Shore Thing" ...Would have been well chuffed if it had been on telly. They also showed Bidston Hill at the end where there is a cache, "Biddy Hill" ..And not forgetting the views of Parkgate, home of a few more!!!! Enjoyed it. Think we did quite well for cache-spotting. Make sure you watch the repeat, Hazel!

Script for Siloans Caches

Sorry....... What the heck is a Siloan Cache? -
oi! wot ya tryin' to say, like??

Very much agree with the above - First few caches found were very exciting and celebrated with quite elaborate descriptive logs. Further down the 'caching' line, the detail of the log and the inclusion of pictures is in direct ratio to how enjoyable an experience the cache was to find! James

Another Cache for Adoption
Team 'James W' replied to Team 'James W''s topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Thanks Hazel.... to the rescue once again!! I'll check the email once I get home. Many thanks James -
I was going to archive this without offering adoption and collect the bits this weekend, as I think it comes across as a bit cheeky/lazy to offer your caches out for adoption (hope it doesn't). ...But I have had a rethink and have decided to see if anyone wants the cache/location before it goes. Changes in commitments over the last year mean I don't cache much anymore, only really when I am on holiday. I can't find time to maintain the caches I placed out a few years ago as much as I need to. Would anybody like to take on this cache? It's currently disabled as it needs a bit of TLC and drying out, but all of the bits are there (the two micro clues leading to it and the final container). If I don't get any offers by the weekend (Please PM me via the forum), I'll permanently archive and collect the bits. It's sad to have a bit of a cull on my caches, but 'needs must' I'm afraid! Cheers, James

Not wishing to speculate, and I don't actually know anything about the situation - but... I seem to get the impression that those 'who know' have no concerns about John & Hazel's intentions, and more to the point.. there may be genuine reasons why someone logs onto the site but doesn't check their email.. Examples: Another person completely using a shared/family/communal computer who is looking at Geocaching.com but it is still logged in as John and Hazel due to machine remembering the login (cookies) People viewing the site from somewhere like a hospital where you can now get bedsite web access via a TV, but might be unable to access your POP3 email account Unknown updates or changes in Spam filtering, etc ...Just wanted to make a point that all might be not what you presume. Are The Rules That Important

<drawing a line on this for me, following Lacto's post. I think I've already indicated my opinion enough.> -
Are The Rules That Important

Not exactly the most bizarre assumption ever made though, is it? Fair enough though. I change my statement to "...I don't have the benefit of living amongst and having any property I may reside on being enclosed by Dry Stone Walls...." Not meant to be facetious, so please don't take it to be. -

Sorry, didn't mean for that to sound patronising. ..And I really do agree with you. But I don't have the benefit of experience in owning any Dry Stone Walls like you, and can only rely on my experience of coming across them in the outdoors. And as such, in my opinion, there does need to be a rule. Not only to promote fairness and consistency, but to protect what does seem to be a potential issue for our country. ..and I guess that's the summary of my opinion. Ultimately I don't know what the correct answer is to this, but I think I would be happy for a combination of Reviewers/GC.com/GAGB to decide. James -

..Although in a world where commonsense is a precious commodity, and even then is open to interpretation, one requires guidelines, policies or rules of engagement. -

I think you should yes - but I think it's fair to say that by posting the question on here, you kind of are, anyway (as some cache moderators are also the forum moderators). You see that a lot on here, I think. I guess it's a way of doing something you're not sure about and not feeling so bad about it. Not a bad thing, I guess. Edited for factual correctness!
