  1. Here is the link Jermey was refering to of the LC's in current status: http://home.comcast.net/~geocacherbb/Locationless.html Some of them have been archieved. I keep trying to get whoever is tired of them to let me adopt theirs, but i found out after they have archived it and they can't be re-activated IAW current GC guidelines. Nice to see that the LC/virtual solution might be resolved by the end of spring!!!!!!!
  2. I really do hope it gets resolved, as we all love the option of doing the LC & virtuals and the regular caches. Both are fun and sometimes the time and place make one preferable over the other. Please strive on!!!
  3. Our personal best is 28 in a full day; and 4 western states!!!
  4. I have a TB motel, but everyone has cleaned it out!!!! I seeded it w/ four of my own, but nowadays, people just take and don't trade. Even a WG$ would be better than to leave junk.
  5. Is there a way to remove the missing YJTB from a cache page? That way we dont get them mixed up with the new batch should they arrive! Spilt milk, etc.... but how people handled it was educational. We had people in our area who got the tray and logged all of them before the distributed them. Others just took their chances. I saw a tray at an event, but just got one of the two that i have been able to find to date. The other was put in a cache the day..... They planned on a loss, and the popularity was proven by how much they were gobbled up. Who is to say it was a failure????

    Coins

Sometimes they are in a cache for a FTF. But if someone 'swallows' a coin, they generally have slunk into the either from what i have seen of late. I trade coin for coin or a TB. I still have only been able to find 2 coins that are tracked by GC (& only 2 jeeps)! Been to over 100 caches that have a coin listed, but they are long gone. Now if i could figure how to dump the coin or 'borrowed' TB from a cache page so that others don't think it is still there, than that would be a great information service.
  7. Back on the 1st page, it was mentioed about trading signature items like wooden nickels...did i miss where it went off to, or did it die a neglected death?
  8. I too posted a DNF due to snow and not knowing the area conditions. Some of us who try to get the grandfathers, and did as much research about an area, or even knew it would be climate, might not realize that the objective just isnt pratical without extra data. Not that i said it was impossible, just that the next person is more informed than i was and can plan appropriately. Others i'll mark as a DNF if i have really tried and after 30-45 min, just cant find it. Only twice have i been off the mark, the other times it was muggled, natured, or the tree got cut done. At all times, i do my best to be curteous to the owner, as without them, the sport would be for naught.
  9. I have a list for I-95 Caches and even 'shared' it, but how does anyone learn about it?
  10. We love it Lots to see Lots to do The kids have fun And it is really So basically we are Sometimes the journey is more fun than the cache! We are a scouting family and geocaching justs adds pudding to the dinner....

    Found Record

Cant you cut the link that updates the various cache pages? A static number for when you created the log entry, would be better than the updating number. My newbie DNF on my 7th day now shows that i have found a lot and based on statements made earlier, it could be misconstrued.... Even though i enter my finds in the order found, they come out upside down. I do not think it would be a big impact if i was entering 20-30 finds and the find numbers were jumbled by that amount. IMO it would still be in the neighborhood and have a more acurate historical progression.
  12. Logos are making me hungry too. The historical emphasis would be wise, but why is the headquarters of real historical import? Did he develop the cooking process, etc... on that property? Was it where he tested the fast food concept? Was this where he developed the secret recipe....all these points might add historical perspective. Just a little food for thought
  13. That would be really cool! The only way i have been able to determine where they are at is to export them to my mapsource and hunt for them. I love the rest stop dash for when i am on the road!
  14. I rcvd an answer in under 24 hrs over the weekend....really good for a small company with a lot of vols!

    Event Reminders

A vcal could solve the issue. One would need to tie the link to thier cache event page and hope it functions correctly. Most of those white papers were from 1998...not much functional advancement on that front from than to now....
  16. here, here! would love to see geocoins from states or other countries get recognition, not a special limited edition. Anything over a 1000 units, and tracking them should be practical?

    Skip List

Becareful though, if you ignore the wrong cache...it is a pain to get it back....
  18. But that is a technical discussion which is hopefully out to create new and great things. Does anyone have any ideas for a work-around now....

    Event Reminders

Putting it on the watchlist gets you a lot of email traffic, but that isn't what i thought the idea was discussing. Is there a means for having a reminder sent from the site based on a block checked on the cache page? Is it feasable??? 3rd neat idea i have read today.
  20. Like a visitor count. Maybe they can add it into site during the next revision. Each of us has to maintain their caches, so if they want to see it on their page, they will provide the info. Neat idea if it isnt mandatory.... Love your avitar!
  21. I just edited my caches wrt the new attributes. a 1/1 is not a clear indication of it being accessable, it needs to be decided by the cacher. I have 2 really easy, but i wouldn't want to navigate a wheel chair on the last portion. What is the standard? If the last 20-50 feet are off path, does the whole cache become un-accessable? I defaulted to yes instead of having someone get 95% there and not making it to the last bit.
  22. What is the average time before one gets an answer?
  23. There are some great ideas here! Maybe it should have it's own FAQ. Gave me something to think about... i feel the need to change mine out now.... Thanks for the motivation!
  24. We like to bring our golden, but how does one handle a dog who doesn't like to travel in cars to cache sites?
  25. I tired to find GC8 and the snow was early.... trying to cross a snowcovered log over an ice creek....just didnt think it was smart thing to do! If your following behind an earlier cacher, well it makes thing a whole lot easier, but that eliminates the challenge if that was your objective. I would have posted a picture, but i havent figured out how to do that....
