  1. The cheapest method in my opinion would be more land based DGPS that can communicate with WAAS for even more corrections, which can be trasmitted to current receivers (not even sure if that is possible, but sounds like a good idea, dont it? ). But then again, why use what you already have? When you can charge people for a new service, and practically force everyone who currently owns a GPS to upgrade to the newer system.
  2. excellent question I too would like to know the answer!
  3. The answers are: Yes, you MUST hold it level for an accurate compas reading (Magellan folks insert laugh here). Yes, there is a special way to hold the unit due to it's quad-helix antenna. Unlike patch antennas (like the vista) you need to hold the unit upright for maximum performance. However, once satellite acquisition is done and locked, accuracy very rarely decreases no matter how you hold the unit. Vista? Fuggedaboutit. Besides the color screen, the 60cs processing speed BLOWS THE VISTA AWAY!! Did I mention it autoroutes? One last thing, satellite reception and acquisition times are MUCH faster than my Legend and the 56mb of memory is more than enough for what I use it for.
  4. They can also be used for No-wake zones on water. I think they were developed strictly for marine use. I tried using it for radar hotspots in my area but then I can be driving on a side street and that darn alarm goes off.
  5. the one that says "Shielding..." is the scorrect one As long as it has that black cylinder on it, you should be fine. The black clylder actually contains ferrite to reduce EMI which could corrupt the data.
  6. I would like to have a search by phone number/postal code
  7. Doesn't that come out to about 800$ canadian? I know GPS units are apparently more expensive in Europe, but this is ridiculous
  8. Sorry to bring this thread back form the dead, but I'm jsut too happy... I finally got my 60cs! I had to cancel my order from GPScity.ca since when I checked mt order status it said "Backorder, Next date unavailable". So I sent them an email to cancel it and the response from them was "Ok, no problem, it was just about to be shipped". What a pissoff. I'm sure they said that just to tick me off. Needless to say, GPScentral.ca had it in stock and I called to confirm, and it was shipped to my front door 1/2 way across Canada in about 20 hours!!! AWESOME! So tonight I shall sleep with it, and hug it, and love it, and kiss it, and call it George. How did I ever live without Autorouting??
  9. http://gpsinformation.net/gps60c/g60review.html Nice informative review (I didn't have time to read it myself but it looks interesting).
  10. I'm probably too late on this... But sparying the dash (only on the part where you want it to stick) with a degreaser and wiping it clean right away will make it stick. I had some tweeters for my car that didn't want to stick (I dont use armor all, I guess vinyl releases its own oil in the sun). Just a little tip, don't use armor all. It looks nice when you put it on, but after several years it will crack your dash. Stilkl waiting for my 60cs.....gpscity.ca keeps pushing the dadgum date back. First it was 12-march, then 15, now 16th of march. What next, April?
  11. Still waiting. This s*cks. I hate waiting. Patience is not in my vocabulary. I think I have pretty much bit off all my nails since January, when I first placed my order.
  12. The anticipation is killing me! I think GPScity.ca has gotten more hits from me than anyone else! So I keep looking at accessories and try finding reviews on it, and reassure myself that it WILL begin shipping March 5th! Good luck to all the rest of you, and try resist chanign your order for the 60c, I know I have
  13. I'm sure I would be happy with a 60c, but I fugured it is time to upgrade properly from my Legend. The thing that annoyed me the most about my Legend was I had to move around on a trail to orient myself. When you are looking at a bunch of waypoints on your GPS, and you have no idea which direction you are facing, it gets annoying (well me anyway). I couldn't care less about the barometer, those things need constant adjustment anyway.
  14. Just curious, my dad takes my GPS hunting with him and he has less than perfect eyes due to his age. I would really like him to enjoy this GPS since he has to hold the Legend about 3 feet from his eyes to see the compas (not to mention try to figure out all the buttons). If it were up to me I would buy the 276c but it's not very affordable nor is it portable. I keep telling him to take my GPS with him to mark his tracks. This way, he can venture further into the woods and hopefully catch more game. (NEVER rely on a GPS, always carry a compass). Thanks,
  15. I'm starting to think it may even be a marketing strategy. This way, they sell many 60c's since people just can't wait any longer. GPScity.ca says March 5th, if it gets delayed one more time I am scared I might change the order to a 76cs. You know hwo it is..... 60c or 60cs? Bah, for a few dollars more Ill get the 60cs because of the compas 60cs or 76cs? Bah, for a few dollars more Ill get the 76cs because of the memory And before you know, the Purolator guy is knocking on the door with a 276c (because of it's larger screen of course). I hate waiting. I especally hate it when companies (and people for that matter) make false promises and get your hopes up for nothing. Upgrading from a Legend to a 60cs better be worth it...
  16. GPScity.ca just announced (16-feb) that the 60cs will be shipping from GARMIN on March 5th. Now, how hard can it be to add a few sensors and some screens? It's not like Garmin never released something like it before Anyhow needless to say, I am getting very anxious, a little too much. Is checking your order every day considered too anxious? Even though you know it's not coming for another month?
