  1. Even if this is an old thread, I just can second Blazek in post #23, that reviewing this list, Moun10bike was referring to, Sark is a separate country in Europe, but is not separate in GS sense. This is inconsistent. It is kind of annoying, that there are some challenge caches out there, which require having found a cache in Kosovo. So the map on our statistics page shows a blank hole, the cache itself is listed as country SCG and I have no means to show easily, I've been there. To have a screenshot of the map is now not a real proof of my finds there. Well, if Groundspeak is really treating them as equal, they could "fix" the issue with their map provider by just sending them over the bit for Kosovo too, if someone has found a cache in SCG... 2. Ok, thanks for the suggestion! This gives even better options to control the look and feel of the link. But I guess only a few will know the syntax and will just paste links in their descriptions. Hopefully some developer lackey will take care of that, do some quakifying on the web app input and reduce the possibility of such harsh error messages. Cheers Roland aka tasdevil13
  3. Hi, if I enter a link e.g. "http://coord.info/GC1HXE2" into a cache listing, then it is automatically converted to the text "(visit link)". The logic to recognize the link seems to continue to the first whitespace character. If someone appends a full stop '.' at the end of the link, the link is broken for the app on coord.info and you get a runtime error from coord.info: ############### Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated. ############### Funny enough, a trailing comma ',' is automagically ignored by coord.info. Please improve the code on coord.info to also ignore a trailing dot '.'. It seems to me a very common mistake, which I have experienced a couple of times in the last days. Kind regards Roland aka tasdevil13
Cheers Roland aka tasdevil13
  7. Hi Moun10Bike, it looks like this internal queue is very long. The bug is still there! I just got a couple of trackables of mine discovered by a harvester, who was browsing through the image gallery of gc.com. So I took the liberty to check and finally deleted all the pictures, where others have posted a foto with a tracking number visible. After that I got a couple of emails, with subject: "[LOG] Owner: tasdevil13 couldn't find [my tb name] (Travel Bug Dog Tag)". This is in my opinion the wrong error message. Cheers Roland aka tasdevil13 P.S. This actually also happened to our little Signal plush frog with the souvenir TB tag from the BlockParty in 2011, where we met in persona in Seattle... ;-)
  8. Hi famof410, don't make it too complicated to get to the event. An event is more or less a meeting and not a mystery cache, where the folk first has to get coords to get there. The main idea is to meet and chat. If some people don't have found the caches nearby, they will go in groups and catch up with numbers... I usually make my events in brewpubs (well, they are less kids friedly, I admit :-), but a BBQ in some park could also be fun. The brewpubs are easier to organize from a distance, as I have hosted many events on business trips or on holidays (just check my profile). To find a park where you are allowed to have a BBQ is almost impossible, if you haven't been there before. I have hosted two events (close to home) just on a pebble island under a bridge. People brought blankets to sit on, some brought a small grill and some beers. It was great fun, even if the next parking space was almost a mile away... So, just make it simple and have fun! 9. Well, then we have to visit the U.S., if we want to get this icon in our profile too! From my point of view, I had a lot of fun, doing a kind of different search with my GPSr on my holiday on Hawaii. There are lots of possibilities left for those who need to bump their numbers. If we regulate the freedom bit out of this game, less fun is left. If you don't want them to count, then don't log them. Just my $0.02 Roland aka tasdevil13
  10. Hmmm, I don't see your problem. I can preview my route on a map and if I click on create pocket query I can see a map too. It is not the mashup type, where I could already preview the caches, but that would be asking for too much. Isn't it? Because that would require that all the settings I'm going to make in the lower part are reflected in that mashup....
  11. Print Preview with decrypted hints is no longer possible. I liked the previous way, that you could click on the 'decrypt hints' link in a print out preview page. Now you have to print from the main page with decrypted hints or you have to manually decrypt the hints in the field, which is a pain with long hints... Roland aka tasdevil13
  12. I have also tried to upload GPX routes or tracks generated by TTQV (Touratech Quo Vadis) to use this feature. I just get various errors. I found out, if you import the GPX file into Google Earth first and save it there again into GPX format, you will be able to upload it to GeoCaching.com. P.S.: After the upload of one track I noticed that the track shown in the google map portion of the window showed a quite different track to my upload. The starting point was correct, but the end point was somewhere else. This seems to be just a display bug. The generated cache list is correct. Cheers Roland aka tasdevil13
  13. It was fixed this morning. Maybe the background agent needed some time to fix it. @Hermit_crabs: Thanks for the hint...
  14. Actually I did it exactly that way and it worked well. Just put the TB with (unused) activation code in the cache and the new owner can register it. See: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?tracker=TBMRGK Maybe you want to write down the details of the TB, so you can track it after the activation. Or you ask the finder to send you an email after activation.
  15. Interestingly there are two different behaviours: - If I click on 'View the map', I can see only the entries visible in the TB log. - If I click 'View in Google Earth' I can also see the last step of the TB, which isn't already visible in the TB's log. It doesn't change with refreshing the browser content. If someone wnats to check himself: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...36-c4ee1faa0b98
  16. Hello, I've just logged a cache find and dropped a TB from my inventory at the same time. If I now go to the cache page, I can see the TB i've dropped in the cache and my log entry. So far it's ok. But if I go to the home page of the TB i've dropped, I can't see any new entry. Even after 15 minutes or more, logging out and logging in again, I cannot see a drop notice on the TBs page. Previously an autamitic drop notice of the TB was created immediately after dropping it. Has anyone else the same problem? Aren't these "updates" done synchronously? Or by software agents in the background? Cheers Roland
