  1. yes, they accept Paypal. I ordered one yesterday and that is how I paid.
  2. After browsing this topic, it reminded me of this paragraph found on the cache page for a cache near our home. Not only am I not interested in taking and/or placing a travel bug here but I don't think we will even do the cache.
  3. Something I would be interesting in seeing is the name of the cache hider on my Instant Notification email, with a link to their profile. In my opinion that information is more pertinent to me than who published the cache. Also can someone explain to me what the sentence shown on the bottom of the Add/Edit Instant Notification page on the website means that reads "As the first one to know you may know too soon. So consider yourself forewarned."? Thanks!
  4. I met my sweety, Berjr1 through geocaching. He lived a couple towns over and we started meeting at some local caches. We now have a 2 year old geocacher, Squirrel777
  5. Oh please, swine flu? I was merely defending my opinion, surely there is nothing wrong with a healthy debate among friends.
  6. The first thing that scares me is.... I can't solve all the puzzle caches around here, nor can I scale a cliff or mountainside to log a cache, there are some former ALR caches that I choose not do because they were too silly, etc. but once you remove the challenge the hobby lacks fun. It won't be long before the powers that be decide a multi-cache is too arduous and will force cache owner's to post the final cache location with an option to find the interim stages. Or a puzzle cache which displays the solution with an suggestion to solve the puzzle. Not everyone has the skill, the desire, the knowledge to find every cache currently listed on Geocaching.com and that is a good thing! Please don't suck the diversity and/or the challenge out of our caches so that everyone can find every cache. My caching experience is fairly limited to my immediate locale but I'm quite positive I've never been made to do anything. Would it be okay if a cache owner made you "jump through hoops" before you found the cache? ie a difficult puzzle or an extensive cache find history? Why? Personally I enjoy having the choice of which hoops I jump through and which ones I don't bother with. It just seems to me that someone is deciding to remove the hoops, how boring!
  7. Not sure if this qualifies as a drama queen post or a chicken little post. Had you bothered to read even a tenth of this thread, you would realize that this move does not, in any way, hinder you from hiding an ammo can in a scenic location. You would've also learned why Fizzy challenges are not ALRs. One question though: Because you are no longer able to post the coords to your favorite fast food joint and call it a virtual, (on this site), does that really mean, in your eyes, that your only remaining option is to hide a cracked Gladware with a moldy log? Or were you just being obtuse? Ouch, I think we should be able to comment on topics without fear of personal insults. I did read most of the past logs and I will reiterate...I don't understand the logic behind no longer allowing ALR caches, in my experience, the cache owner has used his creativity to come up with an unique twist on the traditional hide. I also take offense when you suggest that I would want to hide a virtual cache at my favorite fast food joint. First, I do not patronize "fast food joints" and therefore don't have a favorite. Second, why is it be okay to place a magnetic key holder under a lamppost skirt at the same "local fast food joint"? Perhaps you meant to say "Because one is no longer able to post....." I would much rather visit an interesting or historical site via a Virtual Cache, than arrive at said location where someone has left a geocaching container to sully up the enviroment.
  8. I really don't understand the logic behind no longer allowing ALR caches, nor do I see why Fizzy Challenges would be exempt, are they not an ALR cache supreme? What's next, no more puzzle caches? I thought it unfortunate to see Virtual caches removed, what could be better than not having to sign in on a moldy, wet piece of paper left inside some cracked Glad container and yet learn some little tidbit of history or visit some interesting site? It is sad to see the turn of Geocaching into nothing more than randomly placed film canisters in the local WalMart parking lot.
  9. It is sad to see that we live in a world where someone could steal someone else's property so blatantly. It does look like he/she took a bunch of TBs, coins and perhaps the cache itself, a pity. kimjpxman
  10. ok, so here we are, Saturday AM, even on the left coast, and only 3 of my 4 scheduled PQs for Friday have arrived. Of course, the most important one didn't even run at all. Perhaps it is time to reformat the way PQs are run. I understand that the servers are overworked on Fridays and Saturdays but IMHO it is time for a revamping of the system if I can't receive one of the benefits of a Premium membership, no? As we travel hours and hundreds of miles to cache, we really need more than a 500 cache radius. Perhaps one query of 2000 would take less time and free up the server quicker than 4 queries of 500 each? Perhaps there could be an "obssessed-cacher super-duper premium membership" for us server-resource hogs, lol. Other than no longer being able to easily research archived caches and this Pocket Query issue, the geocaching website is wonderful resource.
  11. Oh where, oh where could my pocket queries be? Oh where could they be? is it just me? I seem to be waiting a long time for my pocket queries to arrive. I don't have a problem paying for a premium membership but I really would like to receive the "perks" as advertised that come along with it. Pocket Queries have always been somewhat problematic but it seems the problem is escalating lately. I realize it is still early on the left coast but I'd like to get them a little earlier in the day here. Oh, well, just venting! Thanks for listening.
  12. Thanks for the information, Keystone. Happy Trails!
  13. why would I only get the first of a series of PQ scheduled for the week? For instance, my 'local' PQ is scheduled to run Thursday, Friday and Saturday but only the Thursday PQ runs. The reason I run 3 PQs of the same information is because in the past my receipt of them has been sporadic at best for one reason or another but now there is a definate pattern with only the first of the week arriving. I have the same problems with other PQs that are scheduled to run 2 different days and only run on the first day. These are not new PQs, they are the same ones I have been running since the beginning of time, lol. Thanks for any help.
  14. well, I don't know, fellow geocachers, this link to renew my membership has been on my profile page for weeks now and next week my membership is scheduled to auto-renew for my 6th year and no one has opted to pay for it, I just don't understand
  15. definately spend a few more dollars and get yourself an HP Ipaq Pocket PC HP Ipaq I love mine! Easy to use, cache pages are viewed exactly as they are on the website and in color. Your best bet by far!
  16. I've had the same problem since early Monday morning, I still can't see the SNEG Fall Back event, just a blank line where it should be. I was able to access it from a link found on a Travel Bug page. I'm using Internet Explorer 7
  17. AMEN! it is not like archived caches have been removed from the website, they are still viewable on a user's geocaching profile either as a placed cache or even as a found cache, it is just alot harder to research them now. The reason given for no longer including them on the mapping feature just doesn't make sense to me. I found it to be a valuable resource and hope to see it re-instated.
  18. upon further investigation all I had to do was agree to the legal junk and my pocket queries where still intact, apparently it was the first time I had attempted to access them since I re-validated my account.
  19. I recently had to validate my Geocaching account also. My mail is received on my LHollo777@comcast.net account and forwarded to my aol.com email address. I thought all was well after validating until I just noticed that none of my Friday pocket queries have arrived. Investigating that issue I have now discovered that all my pocket query request have been deleted, wiped out, gone, zip, zero, nada!!! Oh well, back to square one!
  20. Hi, My name is LHollo777 and I am try to do the "Where's in a name?" Geocache GC3153. I am hoping to find someone who can go to a spot having the North coordinates of 55 degrees 05.56 minutes. The West coordinates are irrelevant and you may pick those at your convenience. I just need a picture of your GPS showing N 55 05.56. According to my research the closest cache to those coordinates appears to be Walking the Dog GCKNTW. Anyone who chooses to help me with this mission also gets to log the "Where's in a name?" cache. Thanks in advance for your help! Lynn
  21. could of they have gone into the waypoint part of the menu or the geocache part of the menu. loc files dont change the icon automatically and they may be in the gps just not in the correct location in the gps
  22. what exactly entitles someone to a charter membership as opposed to a premium membership? does it indicate the number of years one is a member? or number of caches found? is there an extra membership fee to be a charter member? Just curious.....
  23. Does anyone know why I can't delete my Profile photo? I've tried everything, enter password, go to edit picture, hit delete, confirm with "yes" and the picture is still there, I have tried over and over, just won't go away!
  24. I have a Garmin 60c, a Magellan Sportrak Pro and a Garmin Geko 201. The Geko actually belongs to my 10 year old son. The Sportrak broke down in the field so I bought a replacement, the 60c while the 2 month old Sportrak was being repaired.
