  1. I think it is a great idea! Sounds like a fun get away to me. Sounds like you need to keep the young one on the payroll You may even want to set up different levels of Geocaching adventures depending on the clients that book and how adventerous they want the package to be. you could have family adventures, really tough ones for the solo I want to conquer the world types. The possibilities are endless. I think the OP was excellent and not commercial or spam. It was right on point "Geocaching"
  2. I would not make mine inactive and I would not be offended by the inquiry. I believe there is plenty of real estate out there for all of us to place caches even when a potential great spot is taken out of the picture because it falls within 500 feet of another cache regardless of container size. I beleive you should just rethink your hide, I am sure you will come up with a challenging new location.
  3. Congrats you are FTF on this one. I was wondering if anyone was going to ever post a topo or aerial pic with their post
  4. I don't think I have seen a peanut butter jar that is three and a half feet long. Do you have a picture of that one
  5. When I started Geocaching I worked an hour away from where I live. I now work 3 blocks from where I live. The old job provided me lots of chances to geocache along that hour commute. Now living so close to work my geocaching chances have drastically reduced, and more time has been devoted to placing caches then finding them. I thought this thread would generate some of that discussion and seemed to be realted to geocaching. My thoughts are if you don't want to participate in this thread as I requested, just pass it by and the thread will fade away.
  6. You never know who you will come across when geocaching. This cache was an FTF. Too bad it was raining cause I left my digital camera in the car and missed a really good picture near the cache of a canadian goose on a nest at waters edge.
  7. Groundspeak Forum Guidelines The goal of the Groundspeak Forum is to promote the activity of Geocaching and GPS Usage. It is an open forum sponsored by Groundspeak Inc. for discussing all aspects of Geocaching, Benchmark hunting, GPS Usage and Groundspeak related GPS Gaming. I believe my post promotes GPS usage and Geocaching. One would have to use their GPS or GPS mapping software to participate in the topic. And interested cachers may use their GPS units to search for the locations posted in this topic. (virtual cache) If you don't care to participate in the topic just pass it by.
  8. I think it has Geocaching applicability. But if you disagree you could always pass this topic by like a lame micro
  9. Fellow Cachers, I was curious just how far it is from work to home. Post your work coordinates and an aerial or topo map pic of where you work. Give distance as the crow flies to where you live. Let's see who has the longest and shortest commute. My work coordinates: N40 05.622 W074 02.193 Home is 0.4 miles away. X marks where I work. DiscGolfer
  10. Seems to me the quality of hides, size of containers varies just as much as the opinions in this thread. Something for everyone and I think that is what makes the game. Now go out and be the search engine
  11. true, but with an address and an autorouting gps I can get there anyways. For a class we had to look up quite a bit of information on our professor including banking information, house pictures and value, his personal salary, ext... It took about two hours. I'm not too worried about giving out coordinates But why make it easy for them, so I won't I live north of Pittsburgh in a rural area called west deer. I'm about a mile west of deer lakes high school living at the end of a private drive, and on a ridge. anyone want to try and map it out? Do you live here?
  12. 110 finds all in New Jersey. I need to find one in another state.
  13. I did a challenging Multi and I think it took me 26 hours to complete and I was FTF!
  14. Speaking of your tax dollars at work, find the typo in this photo. It's from the inscription on the inner wall of the Lincoln Memorial. And no, it's not altered in any way. EUTURE Am I FTF? DiscGolfer
  15. Velieris quod Peto Hide and Seek peto quod ye vadum reperio Seek and ye shall find Velieris is quod they mos adveho Hide it and they will come
  16. 20 years Navy E-1 to 0-3. Served on Submarines to Aircraft Carriers. Retired in 1999 (Clinton downsized the military) A retirement check every month for the rest of my life, Priceless!
  17. Staples.com is selling the Vista for $299. The price match plus 10% off does not apply to competitor websites. If the prices are actual store prices than the price match would apply. If anyone finds out more I would like to jump in on this one.
  18. I just submitted my first "Members Only" cache. Will convert it to public down the road.
  19. I agree that drilling into a tree is wrong. I do however have a micro that is hidden in a tree in a naturally hollowed end of a branch stump with a natural object covering the hole. I think that kind of hide is acceptable but someone may come to the conclusion that the hole was artifically made and how would one defend the hide?
  20. A cheap home made micro using a sharpie permanent marker. Check out The micro I found at pet smart in the cat section.
  21. Thought I would add a picture of my home made micro (2 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch made from a Sharpie Marker, cheap substitute for a Bison Tube. Check out the tiny micro I found at Pet Smart it measures 1/2 inch by 1/4 inch.
  22. I found this cache and I remember thinking that it was hidden too close to houses. A very noisey dog barks when you are in the cache area. It only seemed like a matter of time before the neighbors would investigate. The park was nice and so was the hide, just to close to muggleville.
  23. Here is my ultimate GPS hands free set up. I use my digital camera bag and have my GPS set up so it sits perfectly flat on top of the case. You can use a caribiner between the camera bag straps and clip your gps case belt clip to it. You can also use a key chain holder to secure it to the front of the case. Works great!
