  1. Thanks for all the input I just wanted to see it through the eyes of others. I personally think it looks a little fishy when your friend is getting all your FTFs. Then again the closest cacher is probably 30-50 miles away. Not to worried about it just wanted to see what other cachers would think about friends going for their friends FTFS Thanks
  2. Yes most of the other big cachers that go for FTFS know that we are friends and cache together all the time. On one of my caches that he got a FTF on the next person could not find it and they said I will await for a reports from someone who is the BFF of the hider pffft!
  3. I told him that I did not want him to go for them to let others go for them but all he cares about is his stats.
  4. I was wanting to see people's opinions on this. My friend and I are from the same town and as soon as I post one he gos for it. Now yes you can claim that it is fair game but does that kind of seem tacky when your friend is getting your FTFs? Just wanted to see others thoughts and opinions.
  5. As for lumens? The brighter the better? Or is there a happy middle? Or just personal preference?
  6. I have recently done a few night caches and really enjoy them. I was wondering what people use and like better for night caches. Some examples head lamp vs flashlight. Bulb vs led. I've done a total of three night caches. Two of them used regular tack like hunting reflectors which were really easy to see. The other one used the fire tacks I belive and they were really hard to see. Just wanted to see others opinions and thoughts. Thanks
  7. I think I got it on the select dashboard I have geocaching active selected.
  8. That is what I do and when in the compass mode it is pointing me to the nearest geocach.
  9. Just as the title says when I enter cords manually entered or cords are taking when placing a cache how can I navigate to them with the compass? Garmin oregon 550. Thanks
  10. They are for emergency situations not meant to use them every time you go caching.
  11. So your telling me you have a pen on you 24/7 when you go to weddings when you go swimming or never lost a pen or left it at a cache or left it in your vehicle going from cache to cache?
  12. This may have been discussed before but I would like to share someneat TOTT. How many times have you been to a cache only to find you have to pen? I have 5 different ways I like to carry a pen so you will never be without a pen again. #1 true utility telescoping pen that go is on your keyring. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002K9J26W?pc_redir=1401887671&robot_redir=1 #2 I created with a retractable I'D badge holder with a cut down pen attached. #3 carry a space pen in my pocket. #4 Always have a few pens in your vehicle. #5 I am still looking for one but a pen that will fit in my wallet. I really like #1 and #5 because you will most likely always have your wallet or your keys on you. This is more for the unexpected caching when you are not intending To go caching but notice there is one close. I would like to hear if any of you have any neat TOTT or any tips or tricks. Thanks
  13. Don't use gsak. I was doing a night cache and marking the reflectors so if we got of the trail we could go back to the last one found. Then next morning looked and there was nothing there. But we did find it so no biggie I guess. Thanks
  14. I do have a file created from the day I created all of the way points but no go
  15. Ya not sure what happened but I think they are gone.
  16. I am not seeing them there. I even ran a recovery program and still no luck.
  17. Just the other day I took a bunch of way-points, Now when I go to way-points on my GPS I do not see them Where did they go? I have a Oregon 550t. I had just left the naming as 1,2,3,4 exet. If I try to creat one now it wants to create 22 which 21 was the last on that I created. Thanks
  18. That's why I like to use both primary though I use my phone to log it but if having difficult time with GPS then I try my phone.
  19. Thanks for all the replies. I was being a little sarcastic when I said "your telling me I wasted my money" You are right 14-20 feet accuracy is pretty good I just thought a dedicated GPS would be a little more accurate then my phone. I did have the same cach set on GPS and phone and they were about the same. Sometimes my phone even went down to accuracy of 9 feet (Samsung s4). Which I don't know if I should belive in that %100. But again thanks for all the replies.
  20. So your all telling me I just wasted my money buying my oregon? My Samsung s4 gets just as good accuracy as my oregon. But in all seriousness it's nice to have a dedicated device and not kill my phone battery. Also being an outdoors person I can use it for more then geocaching. Thanks for the replies
  21. Both my friend and I have garmin oregon 450 and a 550t. We were out caching today and the lowest are accuracy was was like 14 15 feet and would go up in the 20s. Shouldn't the accuracy be better then that? Thanks
  22. Got i. Called garmin and he just sent me a new profile to replace the on on the gps.
  23. Trying right now to update firmware. No go still did not work. I think it did get over written some how because the background for the recreation and geocaching are the same they are the rocks. And if I recall the geocaching one should be like pine needles or something. So how could I go about fixing this? Thanks for the help thus far Just checked it out all the icons are the same and in the same order with same background of rocks for recreation and geocaching.
