  1. It makes us uneasy. Dh told me last night that he really doesn't want me to go out caching alone w/the kids unless we go to urban caches. He also said something about getting me a concealed weapons permit. It's a shame. Last I heard on the news, they were hiking and it wasn't a murder/suicide. So there's some nut case running loose. Hope they get him soon. Joan
  2. Full-time? Part-time? Would I be able to work at home some? I'd love to find a job, but I want one that would let me be at home with the kidlets. :-)
  3. We log them as a family. If I didn't log them online, I'd forget which ones I've done, so it's a lifesaver for my memory. Joan
  4. Point your wand at him and say "petrificus totallus"... Oh, wait, that's the wrong story Good One!!!
  5. I have a REI Singular Shoulder Pack. It is pretty much packed at all times. It holds pen, cache descriptions, compass, gps, swag, wallet, cell phone, and depending on where we're going, sometimes snacks and water. Dh gave it to me for by birthday a couple of years ago and it's great. I love it!
  6. Got our coins today - Wahoo!!! They look great! Had to call dh and tell him that they were here. He's hurrying home as we speak! Thanks so much for all the hard work L & R. I really appreciate it!
  7. http://www.seattlepi.com/local/188667_dcenter31.html Includes a quote from Jeremy! Kinda fun to open up the paper and see it. Joan All4ofUs
  8. A good friend will bail you out of jail. Your best friend will be sitting next to you saying, "dadgum, that was a lot of fun!"
  9. While at Washington Park in Anacortes a couple of weekends ago, we ran across metal markers similar to benchmarks. They say "Dept. of Ecology" & "Oil Baseline Study". I've searched on the DOE site and couldn't find anything about them. Does anyone here know anything about them? TIA, Joan

Congrats from the All4ofUs family. He's a doll!
  11. Count our family in for at least 5 of them. Version 10-2 looks WONDERFUL!!! NavDog, you are truly gifted. And Pepper, thanks for getting this started. And Moun10Bike....well, I'm still looking for one of those elusive coins! Joan
  12. We made find #50 today at Sign of the Times-Gentle. It was a fun cache and the kids had a great time rolling down the hill!
  13. ROFLOL!!! We love going as a family and I (the wife) am usually the one who posts to the forums here. We are heading to see the in-laws on the other side of the state and we're planning on caching along the way there, when we get there and on the way back - even going out of our way to get to a couple of caches! Of course, since I love to scrapbook, I put my own spin on geocaching and take lots of pictures!
  14. I'd love one for us if anyone has the time. All4ofUs refers to our family - Dad (computer whiz), Mom (scrapbooking stay-at-home princess), Son (11, nintendo guy and computer whiz to be, loves legos) and Daughter (9 yr old princess in training, very much a girl). Thanks! We appreciate the effort
  15. Thank all of you soooo much. I'm going to print these out and we'll do our best to hit as many as we can. Fortunately the in-laws enjoyed their first foray with us at geocaching so we are sure to get out some. EraSeek, did you kick that poor little horse in front of you? And Fen - thank you so much for your kind invitation, but frankly, you scare me. So we *won't* be stopping by.
  16. We are headed over to Moses Lake next weekend and thought we would do some caching on the way there and back. Is there a way to search along the freeways or does anyone have any recommendations for their favorite caches along the way? We plan on taking I-90 from Seattle to Moses Lake and taking Hwy 2 on the way back. Thanks!
  17. From what I can figure out, there are 3108 within 100 miles of our house and 1591 within 50 miles. We do live fairly close to Seattle, WA though so that's probably why the numbers are so high.
  18. Well, as the wife, I think it's great! We get outside and have some exercise, we go to areas that we normally wouldn't get to, and we are all together. What more could we want? Us grownups love the outdoors and hunting for the cache and the kids love checking out the contents and the hunt. I enjoy it so much that when asked what I wanted to do on Mother's Day, the answer was caching. We now take pictures (generally) for each cache and I have a scrapbook started just for our geocaching. My folks think it's a little bit odd but they're worried about the "wierdos putting things in boxes" aspect. My in-laws are good sports and have even been on a hunt with us. As for the siblings, well, I don't think that they have a clue that we do this much less what geocaching is.
  19. We did this. We saw some caches descriptions that called for a parking permit and after determining how much the pass was, we went ahead and bought one. We didn't want to miss out on caches just because we didn't have a pass. Just our bit to help the park system out.
  20. We always go as a family - our kids are almost 11 and almost 9 and they're pretty good sports. My 11 yo son doesn't really like the drives to get to some of the caches, but he loves hunting for them and does a great job at finding them. We have occasional times of tiredness, whining & complaining, but it helps that we have a new family tradition - Slurpees if we find a cache!
  21. <I found an awesome album for our GeoCaching, its a leather cover with an eight point compass embossed on the front. I will probably have the further emboss with our Team name and home coordinates.> Where did you find the album? It sounds perfect!!! <I am one of the lucky ladies, my husband fully supports my scrapping habit...I mean hobby.> Mine too. And the kids love looking thru them.
  22. I went out collecting...umm, I mean shopping for supplies today and found some really cool embellishments at a store that is moving so they were 30% off today! I've got almost all of my journaling and titles done for the caches that we've done so far. Then I can just sit upstairs while the kids are doing homework and put the pages together. There always seems to be something else to do though. I'll have to work on saying "no"! ;-)
  23. This just cracks me up! No offense, but I can tell you're a guy just from your post! I know my dh doesn't completely understand this obsession....ooops, I mean hobby but you sound a lot like him in that you support your wife. Thanks. The world needs good guys like you! We're lucky because in our town there is a digital machine so I can put my flash card in, choose which photos to print and then get them back in 1 hour. A scrappers dream and it saves wear & tear on the printer, plus it's cheaper. The more pictures I have done, the cheaper they are per pic. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one scrapping our adventures!
  24. That sounds like a fun idea. I'm not completely familiar with altered books, do you actually put your pictures in them?
