  1. I think a 5/5 would be appropriate for a rope climbing cache due to the nature of the special equipment needed. Ascenders, belay devices and rappel racks aren't what most cachers pack.
  2. Are other caches in AZ being removed and stickered or just some by this cacher? I would suspect that local gov't authorities have other (better) things to do than to muggle. GCRDK5 is being watched by one person. See if moving it and making it a Premium Member only cache makes a difference. GCRDK5 has been hidden for over 2 years, why now is it unlawful?
  3. In Missouri, I found a micro (Film Canister) that the lid was adhered to a knot of a tree that was dug out of the tree for a perfect match. On Maryland's eastern shore, caching near a bridge we found a 2x4 of treated lumber (to match the rest of the bridge guard rails) resting on a lower portion of a guard rail. It just looked out of place. The board was dug out to hold the container (another film canister) One other time I found a concrete "rock" that had a cache container embedded in it. The concrete for the rock was expertly tinted, painted and textured to match the surrounding real rocks.
  4. I remember that one. It truly freaked me out. Much of that had to do with the park itself. I do like the idea of a cache "finding you first". The squirt gun idea is OK until someone puts something other than water in it.
  5. I too have lost the urge. I used to get out and be at park entrances at the buttcrack of dawn. No longer do I have the FTF urge. I do get out and do a few here and there, but nothing like I did 4 years ago. Caching in the extreme heat and humidity is not high on my list. My favorite times are Fall thru the cooler Spring. So I bought a Harley-Davidson Road King..... maybe I'll try a "bike-n-cache" thing. I will admit.. I always visit the site looking for new caches and I would love it if I could get SWMBO out with me.

    Map Links

Will the map pictures eventually link to MapQuest or MapBlast? ------------------ "Walking in circles with great precision"
  7. I did Dead Man's Cave some time ago. I may just have to get back up there to check this out! "Walking in circles with great precision"
  8. Jeremy: Thanks for flushing the outhouse. I got a ton-o-notifications this AM. Walking in circles with great precision.
  9. IMHO, the judge was out to set an example. I don't see what grounds hizhonor had to suspend the D/L for a year (no moving violation). Here in MD, rangers are out confiscating many caches that do not have prior permission to be hidden on State Park property. There was no real problem until 9-11 AND someone happened upon an ammo can next the C&O canal, about 5 miles from The White House. They called US Park police, FBI, etc... The authorities DO NOT have a problem with geocaching as long as the know what, where and why and in a clear container. Army surplus stuff makes for a great cache box, but if the container had been clear or of a non military nature, our Geocaching friends might be in a different predicament now.
  10. I say let em run in the wild! I would place only one bug at a time in the themed cache. What are the bugs' goals? Are the goals tied to the Action Figure's MO? (fight crime in Gotham City)

  14. quote: In light of this, do you have any hope that Lord Baltimore will ever be recovered? I think I will grab Lord Baltimore, hook the copy tag to a similar item and send it back out. Seeing how he has been placed at a bus stop in Iceland near a cache that nobody has found since July 2001.

  16. A few years ago it was all "What can I get for FREE???" Now with the dot-com failures, all that free stuff has evaporated. I like geocaching enough to pay a few bucks to see it continue. It has got to be my favorite hobby.
  17. My TB, Lord Baltimore has goals. First was to see most of Maryland. He saw 2 caches (one was mine) and is now in Iceland. Not that is a bad thing. Iceland it kinda cool I guess. Should I be upset that my TB is not "on-track" or happy that it has logged over 2900 miles? Notags
