  1. Actually you can download the caches using the app and it also downloads some of the map. Just another option. I use it sometimes when I travel.

  3. I have a 62s, as far as I am concerned it is a piece of garbage. I don't only use a GPS for caching but for tracking and various other work and non work related activities. I ended up purchasing a Teleprovodnik device. If I want geotagged photos I use my phone.
  4. My only problem with it is that I would not have anything equal or better to trade so would not trade at all. Other than that, a brilliant idea.
  5. Maybe a list of some of the more suitable caches in the area or various areas
  6. Dude. I'm pretty sure that drug testing doesn't mean that you get to test some drugs. I'm just hoping they don't make me hold the cup. Are the drugs in the cup ?
  7. She'll be archiving them so that no-one else but me can find them. I didn't accuse you of saying that ever, but in the eternal struggle to be the leader, who is going to prove that I did not find them ? My wife would definitely confirm that I found them.
  8. Hey, I resent that, I have 1/4 of a brain and I got it. Can I claim some extra finds for that ?
  9. WOW..are you really that naive ? My wife creates an account, places 20 caches a day around our area. I find them. She archives them. Going even further, I had FTF on the 2 000 000 cache, do I get to claim the other 1 999 800 as well, therefore getting 2 000 000 finds and winning the competition ?
  10. Being a democratic society I suggest we vote on it. +1 if you want to make it an official sport. -1 if you don't want to make it an official sport However as this is an official vote there needs to be rules. 1) If you attempt to vote more than once, your votes will be struck from the register and you will have your voting privileges revoked. 2) Votes are tallied. Ie. If I am for it then I put +1 the next person for it will put +2 and so on. If I am against it I put -1 and the next person puts -2 ... 3) The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 4) If need be then a handicap system will be implemented.
  11. I am still a bit confused as to who will recognise the officialdom of this sport you are trying make official. Guiness Book of Records, IOC, PGA......give us a clue here. Is there some type of International Sport Recognition Comittee ? Can you imagine the proliferation of micro spew. We already have micro caches in the area where you could get away with hiding a car.
  12. Google will host it for free and you can use the current domain name
  13. Firstly, you want to make Geocaching an official sport.........recognised by whom ? The official sporting association. Secondly, tallying scores is a dumb idea......When I arrived where I currently live there were precisely 2 geocaches, I placed the third one and the fourth one, could I count those as finds as well. The next nearest cache was 1000 miles away, I would have to have a handicap of around 1000 to be competitive, which doesn't really make it fair on all the people who actually find caches. So basically you come up with an idea and it is somebody elses responsibility to implement it. And you expect people to take you seriously. If it wasn't for most of the "old timers" you wouldn't be playing this game.
  14. I am currently looking after a few for cachers that have moved away. No problem with that. What really irks me is when tourists come over and want me to look after caches that they want to place. Usually they are over 1500km away and they expect me to perform maintenance at the drop of a hat, to them I politely (for me) so no thanks.
  15. I was going to say. One that integrates with Google Glass
  16. I've seen plenty of listings archived due to breaking this guideline, but of course the reviewer has always been reasonable and tried to get the CO to fix things first. Let's see if the CO ever returns to fix this error. They are after all only guide lines
  17. I see someone from Alaska has posted what they think might be the correct coordinates. They suspect that the CO transposed a couple of digits in the longitude, and that the coordinates should really be S23 41.368 E133 54.632. Based on the CO's description and a look at Google Earth, that location seems to be more likely. Yup thanks to Malcore, I eventually found it.
  18. The 2,000,000 cache is supposedly about 300 meters from my house. However the coordinates are over 500 meters out. I spent well over an hour trying to find it but came up with nothing. I have posted a needs maintenance log and contacted the cache owner but have had no reply or action on this one. Pity 'cos I would like my 200th to be the 2,000,000.
  19. We have taken the "Shortcut" before it is around 2700km and takes about 1 week. The road looks a bit like this
  20. The geocahing app has function where you can save your PQ for offline use. This downloads a section of the map as well. I used this in Russia, so do know it works. The gps part works anywhere. If you are heading to central Australia let me know maybe we can meet up and do some caches.
