  1. Anyone seen any deals on the new Garmin Nuvi 260w yet? Best I've found is $346 (shipped).
  2. People speak about Battery life. . . when it's in vehicle, isn't it plugged into aux. power? Waterproof, I don't have a convertable. So rain is not an issue Durability and geocaching.... I have my other garmin unit for that
  3. I'd have to agree w/ the others as far Garmin goes. Mine is consistantly accurate and w/o problems. BTW . . . how do you like ur 360? I look at picking up a 260W.
  4. I'm looking for the widescreen (eyes not what they used 2 b ). I once had a Magellan and it consistantly showed me driving in a river next to the fwy. I ebay'd it and got my Garmin. On the same fwy. it was spot on.
  5. Yeah, I think I pretty much came to that conclusion too. It's hard to leave a brand that has worked so well in the past. NOW. . . I need to find a deal. Best I've seen was $299.
  6. Hello all, I've been looking to buy a GPS purely for navigation in the car. I've been looking @ the Mio Digiwalker C520 and the Garmin Nuvi 260T. Both have wide screen and TTS (actully speaking road names, not just turn R or L). I currently have a Garmin 60csx which has served me well for the 'hunt'. Product support etc. has been good from Garmin. Mio seems to be a European thing. What's ur opinion on either? The Mio looks good, has the right stuff. But so does the Garmin. I'm leaning towards the Garmin because of my past history w/ them. Feel free to voice ur thoughts on what u think, either way & thanks
  7. Thanks for the reply. I read thread. Makes good sense 2 me.
  8. I'd like to hide my own cache. While finding others I've seen what looks like an "offical" geo-cache log sheet. Is there such a thing and if so, where do I find it to print out? Thanks to all you "Elmers" for helping out a newbie
  9. Thank you all for the warm and informative welcome. I've obviously got a lot to learn. I used the MapSend Direct Route software. It must not have enough detail of 4wd or trials on it. I going to p/u a magellan topo. Do you if that will have the detail I'm looking for?
  10. I'm a new guy here so please have a little mercy I belong to a Jeep club and many of the members have GPS units. The last time we were out near Red Rock, CA. I was impressed by one one guy who when we stopped for lunch, whipped out his (careful now, this is a family site) GPS and there it was, this little skinny line and a label of the site we were at. I purchsed a Meridian Color and also picked up the Back Roads Explorer Topo by Nat'l. Geo. My question (finally!) is how do you get such detailed info.? I've d/l the area we were at but the details are just not the same. We were on some pretty small trails (all marked/posted) but they don't show up when I zoom in. Is it me, the topo maps or unit?
