  1. I have a pair of these that my son and I use for caching, hunting, etc. We have been happy with them. The advertised range is a pipe dream unless you are in open range country, but the actual range is okay. I paid $30 for mine last year. BTW - If you intend to use the GMRS channels (15 and above) it requires a license which costs $75/year.
  2. I bought a Magellan Blazer12 off E-Bay for $40 plus $8 shipping. It works OK. I also have a Magellan SporTrak yellow that I got new at Wal-Mart for $128 plus $30 rebate. The Blazer12 seems to be off by about 50 yards compared to my SporTrak. I don't know if that's just the GPSr or if there is a problem with the settings. I love the SporTrak, though. I just wish I had more time to go out geocaching. I believe any entry level GPSr will work. I bought the SporTrak, my brother-in-law has a Garmin Gecko 100. Both work fine for geocaching. Good Luck and Happy Geocaching.
  3. I'm relatively new to Geocaching, bought my first GPS the end of Jan. '04. I usually try to have unusual, though not expensive swag to trade. Many times already, either my son or myself have forgotten to take the swag bag with us, so we did a TNLNSL. Reading the forums the last few weeks, I found good ideas for swag, like the mason jar full of foreign coins I have gathering dust. I picked up most of them 25+ years ago when I was all over the globe with Uncle Sam's Navy. Mostly English coins, but there are some from all over. They will fit in my pockets real well, too. Thanks for the ideas, people. Back to the issue here, and sorry for the rabbit trail, but I odn't really care about the swag, I like the hunt. My son (12) is a little more caring of swag, though not much. He gets up early every Sat. morning to go to an early meetignwith me so we can cache our way home. The women will probably join us a little more once the weather warms up.
  4. I am a LURKER. I have only been GC'ing for about 2 months. Heard one of my coworkers talking about it, sounded like fun and a good way to get myself and my kids out from in fornt of the video games and TV. My son has his own identity and likes to go with me. Wife and daughter have been out a couple times, but probably won't go out much until better weather (they don't like the cold). I found the forums just about 3 wk ago. So much flame around here, and I'm not into fire. I'm still learning the ropes, so don't have much to contribute, so I just look mostly. Had to reply this time, though to let most of you know I appreciate the words of wisdom and other help I find here. Oh, well, back to the shadows.
  5. I am looking for a pc interface cable for a Magellan SporTrak. Can anyone help?
