  1. Sorry, not understanding what's happened? Clicked on the link on the orignal post and just got a cache page for GC2A8NZ, says nothing that explains why/if Curse of FTF is no longer acceptable. Is there some further information somewhere that we have missed?
  2. Sorry if this has been discussed already, but I'm having lots of problems with my new Oregon 450 and Wherigo. Tried to play the tutorial and the unit just kept freezing as soon as I went into it. I had to remove the batteries to turn off and then power up again. I also downloaded a local Wherigo cartridge and had exactly the same problem, although on just a couple of occasions I was able to get into both of the Wherigos whilst at home. Then suddenly, the problem seemed to go away and I tried several times to access it, just to make sure that it would work when we went to complet the local Wherigo. It worked perfectly! Got home and tried to upload the saved file to Wherigo.com and the unit froze again! I have been unable to access the Wherigo function again on the several times I have tried since then. Haven't got a clue what's going on. I have updated the Oregon software and had the same problem before and after...
  3. Just ordered the Oregon 450 plus 1:50 GB Discoverer full UK maps for £410.10 from Ebay (can't wait!)
  4. This is EXACTLY what the 'Needs Archived' log option is for...... The cache owner hasn't logged on for 18 months so he's obviously not going to respond to yet another 'Needs Maintenance' log (which the reviewers don't see) so why post one? Get over your reluctance to possibly hurt someone's feelings and do the right thing. Post a 'Needs Archived' (lousy English) log. The cache is so much crap... lets get rid of it! Good example. Sounds cut and dried, doesn't it? But if the reviewer was alerted he would take into account that the previous finders were able to access the cache without climbing over fences, and that even though the box needs repairing it's still a functional cache; So, perhaps it should still be archived as the owner has not logged on for ages and has not responded to "Needs maintenance" logs. But it's not that obvious: and who will go and collect the geolitter? Exactly. It's not that we're reluctant to hurt the cache owner's feelings - what does he care anyway? He's not logged on for 18 months - but we don't want to come across like the caching police, judge and jury.
  5. Like many others, we would be much happier with something like 'Needs reviewer attention'. I don't think we would consider posting a 'Needs Archiving' log, even though in some cases it would seem to be really justified. It just seems to us that the decsion to archive a cache or not should not lie with us as cachers, but should be the decision of a reviewer after it has been brought to their attention and after all facts have been taken into consideration. We found a cache at the weekend that would seem to fit the bill. It was placed in 2004 and since then the footpath has obviously changed. You cannot get to the cache without climbing over fences and there is now no public right of way. In addition, the contents are very wet as the box lid is broken. Maintenance notes have been posted and we added to these. The cache owner has not been online for about 18 months. If we had a 'reviewer attention required' log we could have used we would have done so, but wouldn't have been happy with 'needs archiving'.
  6. The correct number is 1095. Our stat bar did show 1095 but the profile one was still saying 1096. Have now logged out and back in again and it's all fixed! Thanks for your help.
  7. Hi Yesterday we came home from a big day out caching and had lots of logs to submit. One of the logs appeared to fail to upload, so we resubmitted it. Just discovered on our profile that the log entry is duplicated and our cache total is therefore incorrect by one. We have deleted the log, but the total caches found figure has stayed the same. Is there any way we can fix this or are we stuck with it? Thanks Peter & Di
  8. Unfortunately only had time for a quick look before going into work, and couldn't see anything relating to the topic. I've now looked and managed to find one previous post on page 2 re the same problem. The latest missing emails we know about were Wednesday night.
  9. Is anyone else having a problem receiving and/or sending emails through the site? We discovered that a couple of emails sent as contacts to other members through their profiles were never received by them at the weekend. Also we had a new series of 10 caches published a few days ago and although each finder (bar one) has logged all 10 caches, we have only received emails for some of them. According to our emails one finder only got one of the caches, but on checking the logs on the cache pages, he had indeed found all 10.
  10. Hi, we just came back from a week's holiday at Yelverton on Saturday. I would certainly recommend The Chimney Rock Ramble series (GC13FRR) at nearby Morwellham, not quite Dartmoor, but not far and the best series we did whilst in the area. Also great were the Dartmoor Crosses - we only had time for two of them, but there are quite a few more. By the way, if you go for the Chimney Rock series, you will need some extra equipment! Have a good holiday.
  11. On Saturday we returned from holiday 250 miles away and brought back a coin which we took to an event near our home. We dropped it into one of the caches placed for the event, rather than at the actual event. As we'd fetched it a fair distance we wanted to move it on quickly. Came home later that afternoon and started logging our finds and tb's. When it came to the cache we'd dropped the coin in we couldn't drop it into the cache as it had already been grabbed. The coin is now in this person's hands. We just posted a note on the coin's page, but it was a bit annoying as we'd taken the trouble to bring it back with us. Oh well...maybe we shoudn't have taken it anywhere near an event.
