  1. I am sorry but that is incorrect. This is not the reason they stopped and it was never going to be left up to the local managers. Its official and has not changed since the last time. I check with them every so often. The reviewer is correct. Geocaching.com will not allow caches on the Cracker Barrel restaurant property due to a request from the corporation management. Don't ask me why they decided to not allow caches. I am not at liberty to say.
  2. If an account had any history it will not be available for use by another person. Deleting the logs will not make it available for use by someone else. Once a name has a history it is locked to that account and can not be assigned to another account. Validation is part of the history. Deleting the logs will not remove the history of the Validation. I hope this clears it up. But if I missed a point let me put it another way. Once an account is used in anyway including validation or logs of any kind. No matter the current state of those logs or validation it is not available to be used by another account or person.
  3. From the FAQ thead: "If the username already exists and has ever been validated, or the username has been used in any way, then the username is not available." Sounds like it's worth asking...send an email as directed in the link above. Feel free to discuss this and wonder how it works but the FAQ and the post about it is the correct answer. If the account has any history it can not used by another cacher. Please write Contact@geocaching.com to request an account name.
  4. Edit your profile on your My Account page and make sure that you have the box checked. If it is then start looking at your spam folders and your ISP.
  5. Wouldnt the date on the cache page tell you when the event was going to happen?
  6. It will expire on the last day or your paid 30 days. As long as you cancel it more than 24 hours before the next one is due. You always get all the time you paid for. Thank you for your support.
  7. The forums are on a totally different set of boxes. What time are you seeing the timeouts. Let me know the time zone you are in also please.
  8. The point remains that if you find a box that is not yours leave it alone. You were convinced that it was litter and it turns out you were wrong. It can happen again if you just pick up boxes. These games depend on people leaving things where they are. You should not have picked up the container just because you did not think it was a valid game piece.
  9. GCN51E is the cache in question. If you are not going to put it back at least let the owner know you appropriated his container.
  10. Ok I fixed the link issue, there is now a link here pointing to the thread there. It easy to make this error as the software is not totaly friendly. I also bumped it to the top. Thats a fast paced forum and the regulars know to check more than one page for new posts. If you search you will find at least 2 more memory-map threads over there.
  11. Moved where it will have a wider audience.
  12. PEBKAC I love that term.
  13. Yes "hydrogithics" are water marks.

  15. what???? mtn-man didnt respond to your post???
  16. No the real question is why do you care. There is no competition in Geocaching, at least not on this site. Groundspeak lets the cache owner decide if they want to allow it or not. If the cache owner allows it and you don't like it don't log that cache. You can not win or lose at Geocaching on this site because its not a competition. The only thing you can do is achieve the goals you set for your self. If the person next to you has different goals its not your concern. Its also not up to you to try to control how they reach those goals. Some people will have no goals. That is also not anyones concern. Geocaching is an individual player game, not a regulated sport. Groundspeak sets the minimum guidelines needed to prevent anarchy. Bottom line logging your own cache is allowed because, due to the nature of the way the game is played on this site, there is no reason to not allow it.
  17. Merged the two threads.
  18. The cache page says; You are not required to send a picture. But they are acceptable.
  19. This is not really a good topic. If someone died while caching then you are going to bring up sad memories for those that knew them. Its pretty morbid as topics go. How about we let this one go gentle into that good night.
  20. Yes you are, I have verified this is a problem. I will bring it to the right peoples attention. Thank you for bringing it up.
  21. This cache is not that far from my home. The local cachers have done a lot of work with the LLEO so they are aware of what is and is not a Geocache. I agree a good job by all.
  22. It is a bit strange that both the Maryland Mission 7 - Crab Creek Ape Cache and Mission 12 - Blind Canal Project Ape Cache in Illinois went missing within days of each other, causing their archival; leaving only the Mission 9 Ape Cache still active in the States. I don't like conspiracy theories, but it does cause some thought. The Maryland Ape Cache was heavily visited, with cachers coming from all over the East Coast to log it. Don't give it too much of conspirator thought. A Ranger drove the placers and the cache 2 miles to its final location. I don't think any muggle is going to want to walk that far with a huge ammo can, and since the placement was with the Rangers approval He probably won't remove it either. Its all about location and permission. This explanation might be more believable if it were not for your account name
  23. 1 hour 32 minutes between the first and second post and it was made EARLY in the morning for a lot of people. Give people a chance to get up, have some coffee and maybe get home from work before you start complaining about a lack of response. Not everyone lives in these forums. I did a search and came up with zip.
  24. You're fired. Clean out your desk immediately and you'll be escorted off the premises. Do not look back or you'll be turned into a pillar of salt. Excellent. I now rule. Not so fast there alexander hague!!! I believe I hold the trump card!!
