  1. I went without caching from 2005 to February of 2011 when I started back up again.
  2. I think the idea of madatory archiving is not the way to go. Some not all of us who started caching back in early 2001 had many problems with vandals and our caches getting sabatoged and stolen or destroyed. I had a cache that was very tiny and hard to find and my cache kept getting exposed. So I redid it and placed it in another location. It was going fine and I had no indication that it was having problems. I had changed my internet service and wasn't getting my emails or notifications from GC.com. I honestly forgot about geocaching. I got back into here in Feb 2011 and found that my cache was archived. I wish it could be unarchived even after 4 years. some of us do get away from the hobby and get back into it again. If fellow cachers had acted on the cache and replaced the container and log etc... that would have been nice and very helpful. Maybe it would still be up and active today. Now I will have to replace a new cache in the same area as I had the archived cache. I don;t think there should be a time limit on caches either.
  3. I think we the co should be able to delete those admin logs. Its our cache and if we don't want them on there then they should be deleted if we so desire. If someone posts something a log I don't like I delete. Simple as that. History or not.
  4. So...perhaps you should contact ILReviewer at IllinoisGeocacher@yahoo.com if you would like to replace one of those caches. Edit to add: the last "found it" log for GC1BCF says that the cache was hidden on private land without permission, so you may want to talk to the landowner before trying to hide a cache there again. I don't know where the person was looking for my cache but it definetly wasn't on private property unless the land owners were walking in the cemetary next to the fence. On the other side of the fence is dense woods and on the other fence is a subdivision. If he was there he was in the wrong place. ON the beyond the grave cache And yes if i had beeen receiving emails since the reviewer posted several notes then I would have looked at GC and corrected the problem.

  6. WEll it has only been 5 years since the last person decided to trash my cache and had it archived. Do the emails and notificatins happen better now than they did back im 2001?
  7. If it has truly been 9+ years since the cache was archived, I agree that you should start fresh. Make sure to read all of the guidelines for placing a cache. Quite a bit has changed since you were last here. I still don't think my cache should have been archived. A nice email to inform me that there was a problem with the cache would have been a better choice.
  8. Thanks so far for all the answers. I was new to geocaching back in 2001 and my pc. I don't think I was getting much email back then in regards to my cache or the problems they were having back then with the cache. Since it has been years I will probably just start a new cache in the same area and rename it similiar to what I named the other cache.
  9. My understanding of the rules is that once a cache is archived then its not able to be reinstated. You will need to submit it as a new cache. cheers Sue Oh why is that ?
  10. Is it possible to enable an archived cache due to the fact the cache was compromised due to weather and myself the owner lost interest in caching but want to start up again and us the same area to start the cache again? Any help would be appreciated.
  11. There's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more to Illinois than Chicago. I live well south of Chicago, can read, and know how to pronounce Illinois. That is right more to Illinois than Chicago
  12. Hey just put this cache out about 2 weeks now and I had the coords wrong. I since fixed that but when I went to check on it my cache was gone. Please whoever took it or if you know who might have done it please let me know or place it back in the original spot. Let's make this fun for everyone. Thanks
