  1. Another idea would be to provide Law Enforcement free access to Prem Members caches - at least their locations.
  2. My sister found out the Escondido Bomb squad was called out to Industrial and Anderson in Escondido. There they found an Ammo can attached to the AT&T CEV (Control Environment Hut - large green box). They check Geocaching but couldn't find it so they blew it up. I checked this morning and found GC3C2TT right at that spot - shown as Regualr size. The bomb squad said it had little vents cut into the side of it, and the AT&T employee who found it said it wasn't there the last time he visited the CEV about a month ago. I checked and this went live 02/04/12 - so I am pretty sure it is the cache the blew up. I sent Redrox a note to let her check it out.
  3. I have found I have double logged a cache on a large day of caching (caught by the Cache Owner when they saw me post it twice the same day). Question, is there an easy way to review all of my finds to see if I have done this with other logs?
  4. I received an e-mail from M&L+3 and he explained that a glitch in his gps program is to blame..He noticed that he had caches posted as finds at places he had never even visited..He assured me that he is working on the problem and that he took pictures of the hides that he had found...He didn't object to my deleting his finds that were hidden by us..I too investigated if his signature was on our logs..which they weren't... I'm not sure that his intent was malicious....things do go wrong..It may be best to delete logs in question for his sake so that his effort to resolve the issue is simplfied... I too saw M&L+3 had logged 48 of my caches as found. I got a note from another cacher asking me to check on a few - des614 and I visited five caches he had logged as found, I replaced their logs, then took the originalls home and reviewed them - M&L+3 was not on any of them. I spoke with Flagman on what I should do next - turns out Flagman had spoken to Matt (M&L+3) who said he had a computer glitch that posted logs he didn't grab. Below are copies of email to and from Matthew (M&L+3). If he posted find's on your caches you may want to review his Geocaching stats page and consider deleting those of your caches he logged. You could visit a few of your caches to verify. Just heads up. I am currently going to be deployed for the next few months so it might take me a little while to get all of these issues fixed. I am so sorry that this even happened. I am still trying to figure out what even happened with the program. I am not sure if it was a user error of if my son got a hold of the GPS and did something with it. This has been a difficult few days for me with the complaints and pretty much threats from some of the members of the community out there. I am an avid geocacher and love everything about this game and the last thing I want to do is make anyone upset over something that is all about fun and enjoyment. I will have very limited internet connection (mainly via phone) so if there is anyone out there that is getting upset with this issue and you hear about it, please let them know how truely sorry I am about this. Matthew You don't quit playing with toys because you grow old.....You grow old because you quit playing with toys. So everyone, play hard. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Geocaching <noreply@geocaching.com> To: matthewnlaurie@yahoo.com Sent: Tue, July 5, 2011 4:33:11 AM Subject: [GEO] Ritz Crackers contacting M&L+3 from Geocaching.com Hey there - I noticed you logged 48 of my caches as finding them while in San Diego.... some were on the same trail, some weren't and I got a note from another cacher to check them out. I visited five different caches and replaced their logs so I would have the original logs. None show you having logged the visit. I was getting ready to delete the caches and alert our reviewer when he told me you had a technical problem with a program and were aware of the issue. Let me know if you want to delete the caches or if you would like me to delete them. Good luck, was glad I spoke with Tom otherwise I was really gonna be upset. Steve (Ritz Crackers)
  5. Congratulations to solanateam for 1,200 finds!!
  6. I'm game to add caches to your wierd California list. I live in San Diego and can cover a wide area down this way. Send me your list and I can also help determine which already have caches around them. I'll look for the book and help out there as well. Steve (Ritz Crackers)
  7. Several of our local cachers have made the local news.... http://www.voiceofsandiego.org/cafe-san-diego/article_9a558592-12b8-11e0-9dd5-001cc4c03286.html
  8. The mud will make the climb out far more interesting! Wow, this sounds like something I might want to do ... hey, Harmon? If you go ... I'll watch you're back, JUST LIKE THE LAST TIME! LOL, boysnbarrie Yes, Barrie, I never got that follow-up exam from you. Get a load of this new Smackdown challenge, shoot, if they want braggin' rights then do it while there's some serious rain coming down so's you can rival the mess that Passing Wind and his pal got into during a rain- storm. Ain't no way that ditch will drie out before th' 27th. Mud is going to be their middle name. Say! wait just a darned minute ... now I get it, they're going to horn-in on our Smackdown celebration and try t' steal our thunder. Why I oughta .... Y'all gonna die! Wow, That's all I can say...Sure wish I wasn't working that night..but I'll be thinking about the mysterious crew..Looking forward to the celebration and what the original crew will do to smack down the new crew..But if any of the original Smackdown Crew goes for seconds then I guess they will need to receive double recognition for their accomplishment...To date, I don't know of anyone who has gone into the abyss twice. Wait - , Mud, Glow Sticks, and a cache hunt - what's the challenge??? I'll be there if I can find the meeting location with my GPSr, still trying to figure out how it works...... !!
  9. Thanks for posting this very encouraging news. Wonder how brother is doing? Brother Dustin is doing great. A couple hours after surgery he walked (well maybe rode the IC cart just a bit) but came down and visited Randy. That is one wonderful gift to give a brother. Here is an email from Randy this morning: Hi, Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that surgery was an absolute success!! As soon as they connected the new kidney, it started producing urine. Everything is going great. I'm in a little pain but the pain killers are keeping me pretty comfortable. My brother, Dustin is doing great too. He is on a different floor but he was able to walk down and visit me for a while. I'll be here until Tuesday at the earliest. I'm at Sharp Memorial Hospital in room 524 and I have my cell phone on and with me. Take care, Randy
  10. Here, here!!! Great news! I received the following email from Randy this morning - thought I would share it with his cacher friends: Hi, Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that surgery was an absolute success!! 12. Great news - on the third attempt for his kidney transplant operation everything went well today. Thunder-4 (Randy) had been to Sharp two times previously for his transplant. The first attempt he had an infection and they couldn't do the operation. The second attempt his brother (the donor) was sick and they couldn't do the operation. Today was their third attempt, and great news - the operation was a success. I visited Randy this afternoon and he is cheery, excited to have his new kidney (which is working great), and looking forward to getting out of the hospital and getting back to caching for recovery. Randy will be in Sharp Memorial Hospital until next Tuesday (12/01) when he will be released in the morning. Randy is in room 524 West, and ask that you call before coming so he can tell you his schedule (treatments continue over the next few days) - his number in the hospital is (858) 939-2524 and he likes visitors. Please, if you are not feeling 100%, or if you are around anyone who is sick, please visit by phone only. Again, praises for his successful surgery and prayers for his quick healing.

  19. We were asleep at 11 o'clock. Here's the whole story: We stopped on our road to pick up trash on the way home last night and a van stopped us and asked us if lived here and if we had defensible space. Defensible space? Of course we do. They were Channel 10 news and asked to see it and wanted to know what we used to clear it. The rest is history. That's not our house in the video..it was dark when they were there. That is our weed whacker and my feet though. They wanted to stay and do a live broadcast and we said "Sure, but we're going to bed." I guess they stayed and left after 11. They really cut out all the good stuff...like John telling them I do all the work I know a movie star - WooooHoooo
