  1. Danie have you excluded events / CITOs etc? PT
  2. Or you can blame Groundspeak for not dealing with it effectively. Or, we can hope it's simply a bug caused by the latest update which will get fixed when they're ready to fix it. I don't remember reading anywhere that this change was intentional. Then again, maybe 'm wrong, but I'm not prepared to point any fingers yet. Well, images uploaded to TB logs have been producing the "way too small" image popup for a while now. Good to see that they've made it consistent now. Not. I am also having a problem - my image is resized from 595px wide to 300px wide and the EXIF tags are stripped out. [] The EXIF tags are needed to solve the puzzle .... Hope this can be fixed real soon.
  3. Well, the FTFs have been grabbed. Anyone wanting to grab these must now go for it .....
  4. Thanks Johan. Now I can almost walk. Pity I won't be able to do the Waterfall cache, but will do another day ... See you there.
  5. COP 17 Hovelj (John) and I have placed quite a few caches around the CBD / Point / Beachfront to mark COP17 being held in Durban from 28 Nov to 9 Dec. The main reason is to give the COP17 delegates who are also cachers a chance to grab a few quick 'n easy micros in close proximity to the main centres of activity. These caches will be published soon. Now it would be a very nice gesture if the local cachers stood aside for a few days to allow the visitors to claim the FTFs. Yeah, I know, but I am only asking nicely. . I am also sending out a bulk email to all on my local list with the same request. All the caches will be named <CacheName> - COP17 and feature the COP17 logo, so you will know which they are. Being in the areas above, I just hope the caches last for a while before they get muggled. Let's see what happens.
  6. OK, thanks - I think the Free State ones are all the same owner . If not too much to ask, what are the top 10 for each province? With (say) a cut off of 5 or 6 fave points. PT
  7. Thanks Anton - but I don't want the hassle of duplicate databases, so I will install V8 on top of V7. Then pay the additional registration fee to re-register, Have there been any issues with any V7 macros running in V8? If so - which macros?
  8. I have trawled the GSAK forums, but can't find an answer to this. I want to upgrade to V8, which is now out of Beta. Are there any issues with Macros (e.g. BadgeGen, FSG, Garmin Export, others) when upgrading, or do they still work as in V7? Would this upgrade routine work? 1. Make sure there is a copy of the latest V7 release in case of rollback. 2. Backup all databases with settings and macros. 3. Install V8 on top of V7. 4. Restore backup from step 2. 5. Verify all macros and databases. 6. In case of problems, rollback to V7. PT
  9. Part of the URL is missing
  10. Also 500 error in South Africa when trying to access my profile. Ticket 186099 logged.
  11. I have recently joined the Android world, and although the phone will never be the primary geocaching device (the Oregon 550 will remain for that purpose), I want to play with an Android app or two, just for fun. Not really interested in splashing out $10 for the GC app (but I may), so am really looking at the free apps in the A Market. What is recommended?
  12. Active caches in KZN, by District There was some discussion at the event tonight about this. I ran a quick check on GSAK and got the following:- Active caches (excluding archived, a few may be disabled) Amajuba - 101 Ethekweni - 434 Ilembe - 34 Sisonke - 28 Ugu- 32 Umgungundlovu - 140 Umkhanyakude - 33 Umzinyathi - 13 Uthukela - 171 uThungulu - 45 Zululand - 25 Total for KZN - 1056 PT
  13. If you want all of South Africa, start with 01Jan2000 and then use the following end dates. 14 PQs for 500 caches per email. SA01_16April2006 SA02_07April2007 SA03_16Dec2007 SA04_04July2008 SA05_03March2009 SA06_03Sept2009 SA07_30Jan2010 SA08_23Jun2010 SA09_14Nov2010 SA10_02Feb2011 SA11_15Apr2011 SA12_04Jun2011 SA13_05Aug2011 SA14_from06Aug2011 Don't forget we have other neighbouring countries - they can all be got with one PQ selection - total ~330 caches in Ls, Na, Bw, Mz, Zw, Zm and Sz. Then you have a nice Southern Africa database with about 7020 active caches. And are free to roam ....
  14. This will work only once you have populated your DB with a range of caches, but it helps to track down ranges initially. Once you have the majority of KZN caches loaded you can tweak your pq's from time to time. Dates for 500 caches max 001 Jul 24, 2002 to Aug 31, 2009 443 002 Sep 01, 2009 to May 18, 2011 490 003 May 19, 2011 to Max date 105
  15. There is a GSAK macro that will do this. On any filter. Macro is called: PlacedPQ.gsk. Watch your email Edit: This PQ runs by placed date. Nice idea, but easier said than done. There are some very remote caches. Even with the FTF still waiting. For 4 years! And some are definitely missing, owner no longer active. You will see when you get all KZN caches downloaded.
  16. Garmin Oregon x50 s/w update Changes made from version 5.00 to 5.10: Improvements to the geocaching experience. Fixed a potential hang on startup when importing large numbers of waypoints, tracks, routes, or geocaches Fixed issue with very long geocache descriptions Fixed shutdown when reviewing certain geocache descriptions Fixed issue where the photo orientation would be incorrect in the photo viewer Fixed potential shutdown while scrolling through Garmin Connect photos Fixed issue where some auto-archived tracks would be named in English regardless of user language Fixed bug that could cause some geocaches to not import Click here
  17. Yep. Ja. Correct. This time you gottit! Take it away Wayne .... Waiting for Wazat Wayne ......... Edit - posted at the same time as Wazat.

  20. Nope - more South Illovo River Centroid?
  21. Thanks Johan! Put me down for camping. Have you got rates available please? Who wants to do the Waterfall cache with me? I still need that one. Edit: I have a spare tent, sleeps three easily or four very friendly people. First come first served. (I will be using the Roof Top Tent on the Landy.) PT
  22. So often we hide caches near, under, on top, and jammed in and among the above. So, how should we describe them? I am thinking of something on the lines of this:- Pebble - sort of marble sized, you can get several in one hand. Stone - up to about fist size or slightly bigger, can be held in one hand. Rock - needs two hands to lug around, you are not going to carry this far. Boulder - this isn't going anywhere. Where you see it is where it stays. Any comments / additions? PT
