  1. GO$Rs, on your wiki how did you get 2070 total finds on the geocaching dashboard when the limit for caches is 2000? Or am I wrong and there is a higher limit? Thanks!
  2. What about one handed operation? The CO with the RnR wheel is supposed to be easy to use with one hand, but the OR with the touch screen looks like it would take two hands to operate.
  3. What I do is when I select the cache that I am going to hunt from the POI database, I save it as a geocache with the closed treasure chest symbol then find it using the geocache feature of the 60cx. When I find it and select "found" it will automatically change it to the open "cache found" treasure chest and add an entry to the calendar. When I get home I just have to look at the day's calendar and there they all are in the order that I found them!
  4. I agree! Discussing issues with a GPS unit on the GPS and software forum. What nerve!
  5. The CN maps will show, not both CN and Topo. You can only view one or the other. To turn off CN maps to see Topo - on the map screen hit menue, scroll down to setup map and hit enter. Then make sure the i is highlighted and hit menue again. Scroll down and turn off CN and show topo. This effects all map segments. You do not have to turn on/off indivual map segments. I said both will be loaded, not that they will both show. I said that you can select which one to use. Your explanation is exactly how to choose.
  6. Yes that is the norm. When you load a new mapset it will erase the old one. However, there is a way to load them both on your unit. In mapsource first select all the City Navigator maps you want to load. Then, with the City Nav maps still selected, go to the topo maps and select all the Topo maps you want to load. They will then be added the the list of maps to load. Then when you load the maps both will be uploaded and you will be able to select which ones to use on your 60 CSx.
  7. I like taking my 60Cx on the plane with me. With Topo loaded and set to the 5 mile range, I can identify what is out the window. I like seeing what mountains, lakes and major highways and towns I am flying over. I have found that at the 5 mile range the edges of the screen is just beyond the wings.
  8. Does anyone else find spending upwards of 500.00 on a GPS a little frustrating that it takes another 100.00+ to add maps? OOPs forgot the extra expense of upgrading a worthless 64MB chip to a 2meg?. I got a 2 gig card for $10.00, not exactly a huge expense. City Navigator, however was a little more.
  9. If they are doing it similarly to the "Custom POIs" on the Garmin 'x' versions, where using the Garmin POI Loader, you can send thousands of caches to those GPS units as Custom POIs. To keep those Custom POIs up-to-date, every time you refresh your GSAK database with new data, and cull the Disabled and Archived caches, you will remove the previous set of Custom POIs for those caches and resend the data from the fresh database. This is what I do now with my 60cx. I have them all loaded as custom POI's with custom icons for different cache types.
  10. Whenever you create an offline cache database, you create the issue of knowing when a cache has been archived. That's already no picnic in GSAK (you have to sort by last GPX date and then go through the older ones to see if they've been archived or dropped off your PQ for some other reason), so I imagine it will be a nightmare down a USB cable. This is not a problem. Pocket queries only have active caches listed. I have a separate GSAK database titled "all new" and I clear it completely before loading the PQ's that are generated over the coarse of the week.
  11. Does that mean that there is no limit on the amount of geocaches stored on the device? The specs say that there is a 1000 waypoint limit on the Colorado, but if geocaches are not stored as waypoints then can geocaches exceed that amount? That would be great as my database of geocaches numbers over ten thousand.
  12. If this unit will not read custom POI and waypoints from the card then how many will it store on the unit itself. How much on board memory does it have? I must have qite a bit to store all of City Navigator, is ther enough left to add a sizable amount of waypoints or POI's? Oh, and what is the SD slot for anyway if not for adding user info?
  13. I have my 60Cx and my old 60c for back up and for guests to use. Just last weekend I bought a street pilot c320 for my car because I had to send the 60Cx to Garmin for repair, or at least that is what I told my wife. Fry's had them on sale for $198.00 and that included City Navigator NT 8.0! I am hoping that Garmin's policy of allowing 2 unlocks for each software will hold true for the City Navigator NT so I can load the maps on my 60Cx too.
  14. I did try another card. I have a 512 MB card and with that it works fine, no problems. It only shuts off when using the one gig card (both Kingston). Today, after it shut off by itself again I hid the topo maps but left city select active and it still shut off. Now here is a real kicker; every day I stop in a park to eat my lunch and while eating I listen to the radio. Today while eating my lunch I left the Garmin on and in navigation mode, and while just sitting there it turned off. I wasn't even moving! I hope Fry's has a sale on micro SD cards tomorrow.
  15. I did not get any notice of an update, but i checked and I was one behind. I have now updated to the latest firmware. Reformatting the card and reloading the maps did not work and it did it to me again today. If this does not work I will try another one gig card, and failing that I will have to send it back to Garmin.
  16. It never happens in the same place, it is totally random and only using the 1 gig card. I have never used proximity alarms either, but sure enough it was turned on. I now have disabled proximity alarms and I reformatted the 1 gig card and reloaded the maps. I will try it out tomorrow and see if it works.
  17. I did re-seat the card because to test the problem I put the old 512 card back in. I never erased the 512 so it still had the maps I loaded, and again it worked fine. I then put the 1 gig card back in and it has the same shut off problem. Batteries are not the problem because I had it connected to the cigarette lighter power adapter, but just fyi I have NiMH 2500 batteries installed. As I said in the OP they are Kingston micro SD card which are the ones recommended by Garmin. The bad map segments idea sounds good, perhaps I will try reloading the maps. Thanks! edit to add: BTW I am using City Select ver 6.
  18. When I got my 60CX I also got a 512mb card for it and it worked just fine. I recently upgraded to a 1 gig card and now when I navigate my 60CX will just randomly shut off. I will be driving along and the screen will just fade out into nothing, and when I turn it back on it will pick up the navigation like nothing never happened. Both SD cards are Kingston micro SD. Could it by my new SD card is bad or could there be something wrong with my 60CX that makes it not work with 1 gig cards? Thanks for any advice!
  19. Yes, that is the screen I get. But only after I push the page button because when I select a geocache I get the map page.
  20. Then why when I select "off road" on my 60cx do I get the map screen? And yes, the geocache page is set up correctly. Is there i difference between the 60cx and the 60csx? I would really like to know if that could be changed.
  21. I noticed that too. My 60c went to the pointer page when I selected a cache, but my 60cx goes to the map page. It is only one more button to push, but is is a little irritating. Thanks for bringing this up!
  22. I was looking at buying a Garmin Nuvi 660 for my car, but I noticed that it does not seem capible of doing multi point routing. That is to say that it will not rout from point a to point b to point c and back to a. At most it can only add one stop to a route. This is deal breaker for me as I want this ability. Is there any Garmin units that will do this? Is it possible that Garmin will add this feature in future firmware updates? I would be gratful for any input on this. Thanks!
  23. I don't remember who did this one, but I still find it very funny. Edit: Delete duplicate comic. See the strip below, he deserves the credit.
