  1. That'd be great if you could Travis! There was some talk last August/September of one in Grays Harbor on this forum but it fell through for some reason. While I'm here, let me add a big thankyou to the organizing crew for the Spokane CM. You provided a great deal of hospitality which only added to the fun of the route. Thank you for all you did to make us feel welcome. This was the first time I had been in Spokane since 1974 when the Expo was in swing. Such good memories that was and this is too. As my Onkle Ole is fond of saying, "Mange Tusen Takk!"
  2. Does anyone fess up to missing a slipper in Gas Works Park?
  3. I remember tromping through a very dark and foggy morning in a Bellingham cemetary once.
  4. I always wondered how this was approved originally back in 2002 when it seems that it was set up by someone who probably didn't visit the spot in the first place. I can certainly understand why it was finally archived as the "owner" hasn't found a cache since 2002 and hasn't logged on to the site in the last year. It's too bad it can't be grandfathered in and adopted by a local cacher (not that I'm volunteering.)
  5. That's still a bit optimistic as it starts up again in early August. Actually, the Bellevue Arts & Crafts Festival, over 50 years ago, choose the last weekend in July as it statistically was the weekend with the least chance for rain.
  6. When I took the ferry up in the late 90s, it only stoped in port for 30 to 45 minutes. The ferry docks in Juneau well north of downtown and isn't walking distance as I recall, not like the cruise ships. When in Ketchikan and you are interested in a relatively short hike, try KETCH ME IF YOU KAN.
  7. A definition of terms can be found here: WAAS/GPS Terms and Definitions It's interesting to note that they are not on a polar orbit and don't even overfly Anchorage.
  8. It looks like I'll be needing a partner too. I'd be happy to team up with you. Are you sure you want to wait until 6:00 am to start though?
  9. One advantage of putting more caches on a route than any normal cacher could find in a day is that it provides an opportunity to start the day in the middle of the route. We did that in Everett, started at the end and worked backwards as that seemed to be an interesting area to explore. One CM rule for micros is that only one person needs to sign the log for the CM so as not to fill up the log book (and no stickers in micros.) If we can get to the cache, we counted that as a find. There was one micro in Bellingham that we could see but could not reach without getting even more wet than a drenching downpour was getting us - we dnf'd it.
  10. I would vote for April 28 myself
  11. A TB, Spring Thing Two, wants to go to Australia. Is anyone going off in that direction soon?
  12. Washington Trails Association usually hosts one or more events in the area.
  13. The WSGA-Puget Sound Chapter Holiday Party 2006 is coming soon. In another forum topic, someone mused that they'd like to see pictures of a trip up north. That sparked an idea that it might be fun to see pictures of some of the caching trips that took place this last year. A few pictures could be put on a USB flashdrive and qucikly viewed on a projector. I suspect we could see pictures from all over the world. Does anyone have a laptop & projector that they would be willing to share for a project like this at the party? ~Erik
  14. It seems to have been something that a former user "JPODAY" (also known as "NWTHA" on the forums) from Arlington was starting up over a year ago. The user status is now "banned." No reason for that given though.
  15. you are probably thinking of the Talus Caves on the north side of Tiger. Hike up the W Tiger 3 trail from the High Point parking area about half way up. A trail junction heading west will take you right there. 1.5 to 2 miles total. Or for a steeper hike, go up past "Parallel Sticks" and the Girl Scout Cache. Have fun!
  16. I'm just curious which organization closed the area? Looking at the Forrest Service website, they don't mention closing any areas. Could it be that Weyerhauser is closing their land?
  17. Here's a sampling of good, fun caches in Redmond / Bellevue: Goldsmith Cache Strolling at Goldsmith Neighborhood Park Noisy Woods WC-1 Thousands of Evergreens Sawmill a.k.a. Your Browser's Cache Multi-use trail Its a Dog's Life Tam O'Shanter Trail Potluck & Quilting Bee Memorial Cache
  18. Boy, snooze you lose! Last time I looked, no voting session was set up. Wait, Wait, Wait.... Argh too late! wouldn't have changed the outcome anyway.
  19. The Washington Trails Association has hiker's reports in it that usually mention where along the trail they encountered the snow.

  21. Ditto with Mozilla 1.7.12. Nudecacher As both these guys have indicated, following somewhat recent changes to the Bookmarks feature, Bookmarks just do not work properly. I have attempted to contact geocaching.com, but I really have not seen appropriate replies. I have certainly not recieved an E-mail reply that indicate that others are having trouble, gc.com has seen issues, and that they were repaired. Right now, except for a basic list of 10 caches, the Bookmarks feature is useless. A good thing gone bad. I too was confused because I couldn't see all the bookmarks I had put on the list. I am using IE6. For example, of a list of 36 bookmarks, I can see at most 15. When selecting a basic list of 10, I see 7 on the first page, 6 on the second, 2 on the third, and an error occurs on the fourth:
  22. There was a very definite snow line Saturday at 1500'
  23. It's tough to know at this point if I'm available and may not know till the hour is nigh. The later in the afternoon the better with a Saturday preference.
  24. Have fun! I won't be able to make a Sunday.
  25. I'm glad I got a chance to go caching with you, Rob. The trip down to Mt. St Helens and all those Saturday morning caching gang trips late last year were a blast. Best wishes to you and your family for your future endeavors.
