  2. Great story, I agree, that story brings to light one of the many returns Geocaching can bring... Regards to the south Jersey cachers!
  3. Holding on to hope with the Colorado, maybe they got a new head of marketing at Garmin. Merry Xmas!!!
  4. Scottsbluff, Nebraska That's GODs country out there. One of the last bastions of real American Living... :-)
  5. Santa Please Please Please... Delorme PN-40SE and as many years as I can get to spend caching with my family and friends...
  6. You can use TOMTOM for geocaching. Use a program called TYRE that you can download off the net for free and enter your caches as Points of Interest. However, if a cache is too close to the road,TOMTOM will tend to jump to the road making it a little difficult but in general it works good and you can drive to the POI (geocache). you can even enter your own logo to represent your caches on the map. Hope this helps. You can also use GSAK. It will export the whole pocket query .GPX to a TomTom OVL(Same as POI) including the Geocaching icon. [] I use my TomTom 720 to get me to the Cache, then the Garmin takes over the hunt. Even thought the Garmin has Streets 2009... I still prefer the TomTom for the drive....
  7. I am still waiting to find out what they were??
  8. Gee, I didn't think they allowed Guns in the People' Republic of New York!
  9. And with all that training that pilot probably can't operate the garbage truck. I knew a guy with a masters and a pilot lic that couldn't find the on button for a 60 ton press. Let me rephrase that last part "couldn't find the big green on button that had "ON" written directly on it, for a 60 ton press." MACHINE OPERATORS ARE ELITIST! LOBOTOMIZE COLLAGE GRADS SO THE OPPS GET OFF THEIR LOW HORSES!!! Maybe he was just dyslectic and thought the big green button said "NO"!!
  10. As an UN-Obtainium (UNO) member, I will be the first to use the old exploding poop Cache Catagory for guys like these New Teen Hobby !! They think this pisses me off *($#%&*^&(*#Q$)(#Q$)(, just makes me more Elitist!!
  11. My brother assured me he had gotten a big enough AMMO can!!!! Wait till I get my hands on him!!
  12. Yea sure okay! Yea Lets do that.. NOT!! Darn Glad they closed the bug... What would be the point of becoming a Premium mem.. if everyone had access to all the features. Just my $0.01
  13. Now I am even more lost than before. Shooting people? Final Solution? I like clever wit as much as the next guy, but I'm simply not comprehending the humour (?) here. Did I misspeak? It's people. Soylent Green is made out of people. They're making our food out of people. ... Soylent Green is people! We've gotta stop them somehow! Oh... wait... ammo cans in unique locations. I like them. Ohhh My I need to dig that Movie up.... One of may favorites.. AND ... I like the ammo cans... Makes for plenty of fun missing a Hugh well hidden item & you can sit on them.
  14. Shhhhhh! They might hear you. Darn the cat is out of the Bag!!!! $1.00 for Extra Cache Logs $3.00 for some Pens $10.00 for a cool looking Geo Coin to track & set on its way... $30.00 for Premium Membership & Meet some pretty decent Human beings.. *=*=*Finding, Logging LvL 4 & 5 Caches, Seeing beautiful places and learning new things about your surroundings PRICELESS!!! *=*=*
  15. Anyone start a petition to send directly to the related Garmin Product Manager?? I am ready to sign...
  16. I'm just curious as to what makes you think people aren't already doing exactly that? I'm still waiting to see some examples of these numerous caches you speak of. Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned Dublin, OH, I think, where nearly all caches are MOC. Was MOC status for nearly every cache the only way to solve a problem in that area? Perhaps, but I kinda doubt it. And as Nelson Crew stated, sometimes we get caught up in the petty stuff and talk (write) before we think. Usually, if I feel my blood pressure begin to rise, I will write a response, then delete it, walk away for awhile, and come back later to repond in a more appropriate way. Unfortunately, I didn't do that in this thread. Again, I apologize to all. I'm not sure why KitFox found it necessary to investigate my caching history to make his point, but all's fair, I guess. In any case, I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of cachers and posters on this thread have much more in common with each other than this thread would seem to suggest, and we'd probably get along famously while out caching. I can't speak for KitFox, but he probably felt the need to check into your claims, as I was doing myself. It kind of says something about your character, when you are holding a Geocoin for almost 2 years. What really astounds me though is the fact that with all the logical and well thought out responses to your original post, you have yet to process the information enough to come to a logical conclusion. Or at least to say gee, maybe I am looking at this in the wrong way. Your post was, while likely good heart ed, and mostly emotional.. Unfortunately not well thought out and totally full of hot air! That this conclusion has not sunk in yet, Leeds me to believe that no one here will ever convince you otherwise! Please don't miss interpret my comments to be hostile, cause I assure you they are not. Otherwise I would have flown to SOCAL just to place a bunch of PMOC around your area. MODS please close this thread.
  17. I never said I felt entitled to a PM cache. I also never "admitted" that MOCs have solved numerous problems, because I don't believe that. Perhaps you should go back and re-read what I actually wrote before you make those accusations. That's where you're wrong, and you make my next point for me: MOCs are actually the easy "sweeping" way to solve many problems that most likely could have been solved without excluding a large number of cachers. I've already suggested at least one way for each of the problems that I listed in my first post here, ways that could in fact improve the game, as per you suggestion. Will those solutions work in every situation? Of course not. Sometimes you have to be creative to find specific workable solutions to specific problems, rather than simply taking the easy route. What I'd be interested in learning is why you feel excluding a large number of cachers "improves the game"? Wow Can't we just go Caching already! If GC wants to added a MO feature which includes MOC option, then so be it. Their site, to do as they please (It's a listing service.) They need money to maintain the site for heavens sake.. Not everything has to be free for all. If members want to have PMOC, that's great too. It's a pay option. If I want access to the stuff, I pay for the added benefits. The beauty is, they don't force me and you to pay anything to use the Cache listings. Maybe some PM's respect the fact that you have gone out of your way to contribute to the support of Groundspeak and all of the services they provide, by creating a Cache to show there appreciation. It's an option/perk of premium membership. Your right, we all have different perceptions, it's just that parting with Greenbacks seems to alter some peoples perceptions more then others, and their realities for that matter. Either way, you are not forced to FLY FIRST CLASS. But don't expect someone to pass the Caviar and Vodka!
  18. This is fine and dandy. The "charging for added services or functionality" model is all over the internet. Yahoo Mail. Pandora and LastFM (internet radio). But I think you missed the point totally, this is about MOC's and the "pay to play" aspect of them. Is it just me, or was this a more controversial subject in the past, and these threads have become increasingly "pro-MOC" as the years go by? I did not miss the point, you just filtered my comment with your own interpretation. There is no, pay to play, this sight is about free GeoCaching, but if you become a member, you: A.) Get access to other services, like (PMOC, Pocket Queries, etc...) (and as stated before PMOC don't make up the bulk of Caches anyhow) B.) Able to view other forum content. C.) Support the sight and further inovation... D.) Show some gratitude for the hard work involved in making this all come together. But thanks for interpretation...
  19. As you can tell, I am pretty new to Geocaching, but not new to using a GPS... So far I have logged a meager 8 Caches in the last week and a half (Cause I just started), but I became a PM because the fun I had with my kids was PRICELESS to me. I knew I had to support something that provided me with more family bonding time. Additionally the Pocket Queries were a feature I could really use... PMOC in no way influenced my decision to become a PM. Then I come across these forum posts and my stomach churns "Elitist!" OMG "My Food is coming up"... Whats Elitist about providing added services for money (Capitalism). I could think of a few things that fall with in the scope of the definition for the word Elitist, but charging for added services or functionality is not one of them. Why people take stuff like this to heart never ceases to amaze me. You want to really get your heart racing check out this thread Off Topic!! By the way one of the most interesting debates Mag.
  20. Came across a site with a Canadian video host speaking about GEOCaching in Canada (YouTube). He spoke of GEOCACHING.COM and gave a brief Tutorial on Pocket Queries.. My interest peaked... Moments later I became a member, updated my Garmin Legend, and went caching with the Kids then next day.
