  1. It should have a giant banana slug on the back and a Douglas Fir tree on the front. Yes, I am biased about the tree
  2. Has anyone else seen this ? Looks like we do quite well in the PNW. http://grand_high_pobah.home.comcast.net/LocationIndex.html
  3. GSAK with PQ's every day. Verizon EVDO broadband modem. And Streets and Trips, with the export from GSAK. Google maps to verify what Microsft says. Logging them while we drive.
  4. I have Verizon EVDO and 1X as well. If you contact www.verizonwireless.com, it will cost you about $80.00 a month. The downloads maxout about 700K, and the coverage is pretty good around most population centers. We use it all the time. Well worth it to us, since my employer pays for it.
  5. We take it one step further than 2oldfarts, and use WiFi and Verizon EVDO in addition to GSAK on the laptop while we're on the road. Otherwise we'd be felling trees left and right.
  6. We have over 300 finds, and we have placed 13, 9 of which are still active. I've seen the ratios anywhere from 20:1 to 10:1.
  7. Haven't seen many around us that need some help, but we'll take anything that needs adoption within 10 miles of 98498
  8. Does anyone have a tool to convert between the NAD27, NAD 83 and WGS84 ? It's a project for work. TIA
  9. Long story involving King County Sheriff's 911, and a helicopter trip, and a gnome named Heinrich
  10. Use a laptop running eTrex with the serial cable GSAK with PQ's Steets and Trips Palm with Mobipocket Verizon Wireless EVDO for internet We can track where we are with S&T's , use GSAK and PQ's to filter on what we want, as we travel. Use the export function on GSAK to display caches on S&T's. Use the palm to take with us after we leave the car, to read cache info. And use the wireless card to log finds instantly, or verify cache pages. Almost had to add a second battery the car. And yes, my wife thinks I'm a geek.
  11. Where did u get the bumper sticker ?
  12. FTF is available in Washington.
  13. We've got to make a quick trip to see the inlaws in Mojave Valley AZ from Washington. We plan on going I5 to Bakersfield and then to Needles. Looking for the "absolute do not miss caches in the area". Any suggestions ?
  14. 200 for us. Working on 300 by Jan 17.
  15. I am a n00b I am looking for a PC mapping software that will display my current location as well as the location of WP's on my laptop. I want to use it while travleing around the US. We currently use GSAK to manage and load the WP's into the GPSr. I would like to be able to see all of the WP's on a map, and what their general location is. Does such an animal exist ?
  16. Bought an ETREX for geocaching and love it. I also have an old Magellan ColorTrak. I'm curious how accurate the ColorTrak is ? Is anyone else using one ? Before I drop a couple of bucks, and to try and find an antenna, is it really worth it ?
