  1. Any suggestion as to how I would find their address? I'm not above any low tech approach. I want to get this bug back in service. I'm really curious if a person picked up the bug and kept the tag as a souvenir.... Bec
  2. Only if nobody purchases any! Bec

Spike Found this TB yesterday without it's tag. With a little bit of research I found it's TB page (the bug sheet was still in the baggie) but without its TB tag I cannot log it. It was logged into a cache a few miles from where I found it, but I have no idea who picked it up or who dropped it off. Leads me to believe that it had a tag when dropped off at the last cache, but somewhere in the move it's now gone. I tried to contact the owner, but my email was returned as undeliverable. So now what do I do? Bec
  4. Adorable avatar Earthdog! Bec
  5. I've found a couple WG bills in caches. I think I've found the same number through cash transactions. If I find it in a cache, it probably will end up being used for lunch. At any rate, almost every dollar I've logged on WG just seems to disappear off the face of the earth. Doesn't make me as excited about find a WG bill (but I keep on logging them and hoping...) Bec
  6. Go to the Wi geocaching forum for ordering information. At this point, they're still in the designing process, so I have no clue when they'll be made available for ordering. And I'll just mention again, I have no involvement in this coin -- I'm just a Wi geocacher. Bec
  7. wzbt03 is a well-respected cacher in Wisconsin. His hides were all very smart & fun, and usually pretty challenging. We're all going to miss his caches. His reasons for archiving his caches are his own and we respect his decision. He also stated he would pick them up, and we trust that he will do that. I have offered to help, if he so desires. He's not gone from geocaching, it just isn't his main pastime. I'd rather have someone placing caches who has the time to maintain them and respond to problems promptly. The fact that he can't pick them up right away shows that he wouldn't have time to properly maintain that many caches. Bec
  8. Be Nice! I tried really hard!! Bec
  9. The voting has been completed and the deer design will be on the back. There might still be a few design tweaks, and the coin will soon be available. Bec (by the way, I'm not involved in the whole design and sale part. I'm just a voting WGA member. I wanted a badger on the back myself -- we're the badger state -- but it was too hard for someone to draw.)
  10. I will be spending some time at the museum this Saturday checking out the plastination exhibit. Any caches nearby that are not to be missed? Would prefer those within walking distance. Thanks, Bec
  11. Does anyone have a pic of a Jeep at Catmandoo (that is the correct spelling in this case)? Not a great picture, but it makes me smile! Bec
  12. For me, any cache hidden amongst conifer trees causes minor hives. Cedar trees are the worst!! Thankfully, I'm smart enough to travel with my own personal first aid kit, so all is good for me! Bec
  13. I'm allergic to just about everything on the planet (even rodents -- why would someone be allergic to rodents?) but not poison ivy. I have tested this theory several times (even on purpose, and without washing the skin afterwards & no problems). I'm not any help, but I can't believe anyone hasn't quoted the Simpsons episode where they discuss PI: Marge: Leaves of 3, let it be Homer: Leaves of 4, eat some more! Bec
  14. no but she's eating the rabbit It was a cat, actually. The pic is of Shilo. He had a habit of bringing all the neighborhood cats home to be groomed, loved, and generally slobbered over. Shilo got her own cat, Dumber (pictured), after she brought home the neighbors cat and all her kittens. A while back Dumber passed away (the dog didn't do it). They got Shilo a new cat, Shadow. Shadow is not yet a fan of Shilo's attentions. Great picture & story! I'm a female and frequently cache alone & unarmed. I have had self defense training though. I do feel that a certain amount of self-confidence (even if you have to force it! []) does help -- don't present yourself as a victim. I've never been in an uncomfortable situation. But then again, maybe I'm just not bright enough to see possible dangers Cache On!
  15. ...and if Jeremy isn't bothered by all this, I guess it's okay (the multiple attended logs). After all, he's TPTB!! Bec (edited because I can't do no good grammar!)
  16. They have, I believe. As stated earlier, this has been a MAJOR dicussion here in WI. I have logged WI events in both ways -- one log for the event only, and multiple for each temporary cache. At a lot of our events, temporary caches are placed with an agreement with the State Park that the caches will be removed at the end of the event. Would love if they could be permanent, but we want to have a good relationship with park managers. Bec
  17. Yeah, it's a Wisconsin thing..... Bec
  18. A finder's Tree is simply used when a few cachers go out together but don't want to spoil the fun of finding the cache for others. When one spies the cache, he tries to avoid calling attention to it -- rather he will move off some (perhaps still giving the impression of searching) and declare some spot away from the cache as "finder's tree" (usually it's near a tree). As cachers spot the cache, they congregate around the finder's tree until all have had a chance to find the cache. Then it is retrieved and all can sign the log with a legitimate find! It's just something fun to do -- plus you can tease those who haven't found the cache yet. Bec
  19. Got my 60CS on Saturday (birthday present) and took it out geocaching on Sunday. I'm still learning everything, so a lot of this thread sorta made sense, or went completely over my head. I find the "hold level" slightly annoying. Is that just for the compass, and can it be turned off. To save on battery life of my last unit (SporTrak Map) I kept WAAS off. I'm doing the same now -- is that okay, or doesn't it matter so much? Mmmm....that's all I can think of now. Bec
  20. I have a non-geocaching antenna topper (it's a greyhound one) that is the traditional foam. It's pretty big, and therefore it wobbles. It's been on my car for about 6 months now and has not come off once. The wobble makes it easy to find in the parking lot.... Bec
  21. *thud* Fly much likey this eye candy better. More good. *drool* Fly much distracted no know words right more order bad. Yep -- I hear ya. Pretty tasty!! Bec
