  1. Congradulations on your first.(of many[^]) I had so much fun on my first, I went and found another the same day. I plan on hitting the second again in a couple weeks on the 1 year ann. of when I started. (1st is archived)
  2. Welcome Mrtom, The 750 will work fine. You need to read the instructions as to how to enter waypoints/landmarks into the unit. Once you have entered a few, hit the "goto" button. It will then guide you in the direction of the cache. From the quick look I made on the Mag. website, it sounds like it will give you turn by turn directions to it from your house.[8D] Good luck and have fun.
  3. Interesting, she got her GPS, didn't read the manual, just went to look for the cache. Question, if she didn't read the manual, how did she enter the waypoints? This isn't something that is self expanitory. Sounds like a made up story from the owners of the site.
  4. That sounds like a lot of fun to find. Wish I lived out there. Good job putting it together.
  5. Something else you can do also, is get a compass and when the GPSr says your 150-200' from the cache, check what the bearings are to the cache, set these on the compass. Line up the N arrow and the arrow inside the compass bezel. The arrow on the base plate will point in the direction you need to travel. Now follow that arrow and pace off the distance your GPSr says. If you don't find anything in that general location, walk 100' in another direction, and do it over again. By doing this from several points your narrowing the location to a smaller area. Then like Ranz said, think where you would hide a cache in that area if you were going to. It's probably there. Good luck.
  6. Last year there were a couple threads about a wristwatch style gps that can be used to keep track of someone. Hopefully our resident archivist (Markwell) can find it.
  7. While on any hunts before you get your upgrades, just remember that .01mi is aprox. 52 feet. When your unit says your about .02-.03mi from the cache, look in that direction and guestimate the 100-150' distance. Pick a tree at this spot and walk to it. Cache should be in the general area.

  9. It might be interesting to give all the coordinates at the beginning, then see all the various ways everyone chooses to find them, which they found first, second, etc.
  10. Hi Debb, Got the cache placed yesterday. From Sea to Shining Sea. GC60CD.

  12. Welcome to the addiction #1. Sounds like your family is already hooked. When looking for the rechargables, if you go with NiMah's, check the back of the package for the highest rating, should be 1600. Some have a lower rating, even though they are the same brand and similar packaging.

  14. I like the 30 cal, they are a little easier the hide. I have used both. There is only about a buck difference in price.
  15. Looks like we have someone finding caches and relocating them for fun. Take a look at Fad Stash and Nikes No More.
  16. GP, check out Kmart, Walmart, Target. They all have rechargables. Check on the forums here, there have been several threads about rechargables, which work good, where to get them, etc.
  17. Hi Debb, I got my 20 squares in the mail today. Will get a cache placed in a coupel days to get them signed. Glad to be a part of this again.

  19. Good luck on your hunts.
  20. Hooray to the Huron Clinton Metroparks in the Detroit area. Like the Cleveland Metroparks, they are starting to hide caches in their parks. Hope this can encourage others to do so. See 'Bill and Garys Excellent Adventure' GC5B80.
  21. I too used to be immune to PI. The key word is used. Now I get it very easily. My prevention method is a little barbaric but very effective. I shower with fels naptha soap as soon as possible after being in the woods, and if I know I touched some PI, I then wipe down with clorox bleach, and shower again. The bleach neutralizes all the oils. Then I shower again. If the rash has already appeared, I scratch it some (you know, where it just starts to feel better), then put the clorox on small areas of the rash. You have to do small areas, it will hurt like H. Stops the itching and the rash is gone in 2 days.
