  1. I started leaving Tibetan Prayer Flags as my sig item in caches in the fall of 2001. Then I had a CD made of some of my photos from Nepal that show while a Sherpa folk tune plays. I also leave sig cards in the caches that are photos from Nepal that I print on transparency film, then laminate. There are ten different cards. Some cachers try to collect all 10 cards and 5 flag colors.

You can see a lot of other sig items here in the MIGO Sig Item Database

  2. If you look at the second paragraph down here, it says to look forward to 06.

How do you enter? the first year, you had to find the jeep tb, then submit either a photo or story of your adventure finding/hiding it. Or you could submit an online entry form each week for the duration of the contest. They gave away 3 jeeps, but that was to all who entered, winning photos, winning essays, and all the online entries, which were advertised in several magazines as well.

This past year, they gave away 2 jeeps, one to online entries, and one to a geocacher. To enter that, you had to submit a photo with the jeep tb. No essays.

Here is photos of the 15 monthly winning photos, and the jeep went to Malandro in Utah with Jeep Help Everyone.

  5. A mechanical pencil or regular pencil and sharpener should be added to all your caches. Ink pens tend to freeze in the winter and prevent entering finds in the logbook. You should also carry a pencil with you for those caches you find that don't have one so you can still enter your log.

  6. Prizes have been awarded for the first month of the contest. UPS left a package at my door this morning containing a Garmin Legend C GPS. Was sent UPS express, so the others should have been recieved also. Very cool surprise when I opened the package.

  7. I took a trip to Nepal in Oct 2000, brought back a few strings of Tibetan prayer flags as one of my souviners. Started caching in June of 2001 and started leaving individual flags in exceptional caches that I found and in caches that I hid. I didn't have many flags so had to be careful not to "spend" them too quickly. Then I found a source nearby (she goes to Nepal yearly) so I leave them in most caches now. BTW Team 360, I hope to get one of your rocks when you come to this area in a few weeks.

  8. Check out the Canada forums for caches that Cliffy has hidden in the Ottawa area using PVC pipe with the upper end sealed and the opening on the bottom. Tie a rope around it and hang it aginst a tree trunk.

  9. Mark,

I am so sorry to hear about Bec. It was such a shock last fall when you told us about her illness and future treatments. From reading these logs, I don't think I am the only one with a new emptiness in their heart.
