I felt your pain just reading these posts. I too brought a 2nd hand GPSr a Garmin Etrex 20x. The pain of getting the caches loaded was horrific and I too was wondering what I had done by buying a GPSr unit. I asked questions on this forum too but what helped most was watching a youtube video on loading caches. I also thought that once it was in the gpx file on the laptop that it would transfer to the unit when plugged in (boy am I a newbie to this stuff), once in gpx file I need to right click then send to garmin. You will love your unit once you figure it out. I have only managed to use mine to find one cache so far and it was brilliant, tomorrow we are going caching!!!

Back in 2008 at our local Playcentre (New Zealand parent run centre for preschoolers) another parent was talking how her older children were playing at edge of the gorgeous Te Waihou River (New Zealand) and accidently found "Birthday Girl" GC1AK0E. So I looked into it and signed up to find one in my local town "Good Shepherd" GC10F5G. Being a mother of 2 yound children life got in the way and I forgot about Geocaching until the beginning of 2016 when my son said "I saw this cool thing on Youtube, called geocaching" That rekindled my interest and have been keen finding over 100 in under 6 months. I know it is not alot. School holidays are coming in a few weeks and I don't work as much at that time, so we will get out and about a bit more. 1 week ago I finally brought a GPSr. I really enjoy the ones in the bush as we have some pretty amazing scenery here.

Oh well maybe it was one of the other multiple things I tried. However it all went to plan once I installed the communicator, so I will give that credit.

I am so happy I have got it working. YAY. I downloaded the garmin communicator from Mozilla.

I have managed to get a pocket query loaded in the computer but cannot get it to gps. It is in the garmin - gpx folder. Watched a youtube video to get that far. I seem to read that windows10 is a problem. Have tried on sons windows8 computer but no luck.

I am on my second evening of trying to load geocaches onto my etrex 20x and becoming very frustrated. Finding info is not easy and I am not very techy. I am using a laptop with windows10 preloaded on. Can someone kindly talk me through what to do? I have googled and I have youtubed. No luck. Please help!
