  1. Finally got the chance to cache with 2.98 today, and its good to see consistency. Because the last few betas have been keeping me about 30-40 feet away from where the cache is. At one point the GPS accuracy was peaking at 150 ft.. Given this was under thick tree cover, but I never had issues like this with the last official update. I'm really holding my breath for the next true version.
  2. My Writerights are holding up really well so far. There are a few small scratches that are only noticeable when the unit is off, and this has been after about 3 months of use. For how much easier it is for me to drag my finger or stylus across the screen makes up a good part of my liking for these protectors, and also the fact I have enough to do my cell phone and mp3 player helps too.
  3. I hated the Invisi Shield. Come on, $12 for 1 clear static cling sticker and some spray? Its my own fault, I should have researched more. What I am now using and love with all my hearts abilities is some WriteRight screen protectors I bought from Wal Mart for $6, 5 to a pack and they are large enough that I can cut 2 protectors from each sheet. They are MUCH smoother than InvisiPoo and a little bit clearer too. And with me being OCD, I can cut the protector to cover every single area of the screen, and if I ef up in the process, I can do another one and still have plenty to spare.
  4. Ooooh nice. Just got back from a trip to Georgia, did some caching and 2.97 performed just as poorly as always. Very intrigued about trying this new beta out soon.
  5. Well I went through all the steps of going back to 2.5 then building on updates till I reached 2.97. And I didn't see a difference at all. Frustrated, I went back to 2.8, and couldn't stand the redraw times on the map. So I bumped it back up to 2.97, but this time the redraw still took forever So, went back to 2.5, then 2.8, then up to 2.97 and everything is back to the way it was. Accuracy is still not what it used to be, but the unit itself performs quicker. So for now I am just sticking with quick park and grabs, as those at least I know right where to look Side note, I am impressed Garmin is releasing a new Organ when they still have bugs with this one....
  6. I don't see how the heck you got it on the second try! Finally got it after maybe the 25th try, having a "split second" time frame is an over statement... Hopefully I will have the chance to give this setup a try tomorrow.
  7. Failing repeatedly at releasing the power button at the right time. When exactly should it be released? As soon as Loader appears? Right before it disappears? Between the Loader Loading and Loader banners? I think I am over thinking this...
  8. Wish I had seen this update sooner, would have loved to have tested it out while caching today. I am really hoping for better accuracy...
  9. I haven't tried it, but I don't see why not.
  10. You are correct, I actually bought that setup for a buddy of mine for Christmas. I went with an arm for mine just so I could have a little more flexibility for positioning my GPS.
  11. This is what I ordered for my mountain bike, and it works PERFECTLY. I've never had it move on me despite what type of terrain I go over. And I've no shocks/suspension on my bike. I can't come up with enough good words to say about how well it works. RAM-HOL-GA31U $10 cradle for your Oregon RAM-B-238U $6 ball to mate cradle to arm RAP-B-231U $7 handlebar mount RAM-B-201U-A $10 short arm Ordered from The Mount Depot Thats the shortest arm they have, and both the ball for the cradle and the one on the handlebar mount are rubber, so the chances of the Oregon moving around on you are pretty much nill.
  12. For me, this is the worst my Oregon has performed. It was spot on with earlier updates, and I am almost ready to go back to a different version.
  13. Went out today on a cache run, and did not notice any improvement or change from the previous run. Even when out in the open, the compass needle would make sporadic direction changes, not to mention what it would do when in tree cover. Many times I would be walking in the direction the needle was pointing, without the Distance to Destination dropping, only to have it suddenly flip directions and tell me I was MANY feet away. One notable cache was found about 24' from where I had my gps sitting, while it was showing the cache being 3' away. Interestingly enough, I see that Maingray lives in NC, not incredibly far from where I am, and he is reporting a well behaved unit
  14. Add me to the list of accuracy issues. Loaded the update yesterday, went for a caching run this morning. Experienced everything that ark fireman did, and it maintained that attitude the entire time I was out. Would approach GZ and as the distance to destination dropped, right towards the end it would go nuts. I've never gotten frustrated with my gps until today, I was ready to throw it into a tree! And the whole time the accuracy stated 8' More than 1 cache was found today at least 10' from where my Oregon was telling me to be. At one point I was standing looking at the cache while being told it was 24' the other way. And theres nothing I can say about WAAS that hasn't already been said here.

  16. I'm sure he's got his hands full getting all these sent. I paid on the 11th and got my books last week. Very cool book, and I love the autograph in each one, that my friend, is class.
  17. Thats an awesome gesture man. I just grabbed a couple myself, thanks!
  18. Yup, it does. However, I do like how the Colorado arranges everything on one screen; difficulty, terrain, description, directional arrow and a button to view the logs. The Oregon does not have all this together, its all on separate pages. One page to find the cache, another to view the difficulty/terrain and description with the logs located at the bottom of the page beneath the description.
  19. Well that figures, shortly after I posted this I had a buddies friend ask if I was selling it. Not sure if he will take it or not, but I will keep this updated!
  20. PENDING!!! Bought this from a member here I used this for a few months and really enjoyed it. Then I got an Oregon for Christmas, and I no longer need the Colorado. Maps include Topo 2008 and North America City Navigator 2009 Also has a Garmin carabiner, Mapsource software, data cable, an Invisi Shield screen protector and a 4 gig SD card. I will also throw in a pair of Energizer 2450 mA rechargeable batteries as well. Oh and the original box it came in Would like $340 delivered for it. Shipping Priority to the States only! And I would be more than willing to post pics if you want to see them, but the unit is flawless. Let me know!
  21. Hahah I can't believe it was that easy. I have been to that screen before, and NEVER thought to tap the Found Caches field. Thanks
  22. If I tap the counter it switches screens to allow me to change to a different dashboard. It was worth a shot though
  23. I got my hands on an Oregon 400T, and so far have been very pleased with it. One thing I was curious about is how it tracks the amount of caches you have found (on the dashboard), and whether or not it can be modified. I ask because I want to see if I could get it to display the total number of caches I have found instead of just the ones I have found so far with the Oregon. I did try to change the geocache_visits text file but that only added caches to the Caches Found page, instead of making the counter go up. Thats about it, any help would be really awesome.
  24. I have searched for the last hour at least trying to find an answer and have come up empty handed. This will be the second time I have used the Caches Along a Route feature, and it seemed to work pretty good the first time. But this time it is different, as I have never driven to the place I am going. So here is my question: The route generated by Google Earth that I use to create a PQ from, what do I do to tell my Colorado that thats the route I want to follow? Last time the route GE generated for my PQ was not quite the same as the one that my Colorado generated when we went to the mountains, though there were still a fair amount close by. This time we are traveling a lot farther, and I want to hit as many caches as I can along the way. Any info is much appreciated!
