  1. We are not the average cachers, but the hunt and the find are much more important than the number attached to our profile.
  2. Me 49 years, 11, months 8 days..(thats scarey ain't it? dang I'm almost 50) Mrs D 3?. Dano 18
  3. If you seriously have to ask you should click on www.ebay.com and sell your GPSr, quit wasting your time on these sites, and find another hobby that you get. With Geoing, you get it or you don't. If you don't that's not a bad thing. but I think it is a sad thing.
  4. no I mean this one "Iran Embassy Hostages, 1979; · Beirut, Lebanon Embassy 1983; · Beirut, Lebanon Marine Barracks 1983; · Lockerbie, Scotland Pan-Am flight to New York 1988; · First New York World Trade Center attack 1993; ·Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Khobar Towers Military complex 1996; · Nairobi, Kenya US Embassy 1998; · Dares Salaam, Tanzania US Embassy 1998; · Aden, Yemen USS Cole 2000; New York World Trade Center 2001; Pentagon 2001. Some people still think terrorists aren't a threat to America"
  5. Encourage the use of ammo cans for cache containers (edited for spelling)
  6. We used a 3x5 card with instructions at the top and put our nics as the first pic along with the date taken. During a maintenance visit last week we had 9 entries. Yet to be determined how well it worked, but hopefully the numbers on the negatives will match up.
  7. 6 to 1 (66 finds/ 6 hides) No skin off our hides either!
  8. We have one in a pyrex bowl. It has a screw on lid and I glued bubble wrap to the inside hoping to make it more break resistent. We also describe it in the description. It has been in place for about 18 months without a negative comment or incident yet. There have been snow, ice, and rainstorms here and the last report is that it is in great shape.
  9. I thought it went well with our handle. Sorry no kilt but I think Mrs D in a gown is much better than me in a kilt.
  10. This is one of the reasons we carry a copy of the cache description from the web. It and an honest answer are hard to doubt. Who knows, you may even help the officer decide to join our ranks.
  11. Thanks for your remarks and your service also. No matter when or where someone served it is important to our freedom. The stripes are 1 for 3 in the Army. I currently have 31 years in the SC Army National Guard and am the Commandant of the Regional NCO Academy.
  12. An E9 in the Army and his lovely lady. Last name is Duckett.
  13. We've got a 17' Grumman and have not considered opening a casino on it. We have had a lot of good times in it though! Thanks for the link, but it don't help. I'm on dial up.
  14. It is such a big problem here. Especially in the upstate counties where the rivers are an average of 3 to 6' deep unless they are in flood stage.
  15. I don't have the video feed. Are they discussing 3777?
  16. I also agree that we should display the same courtesy, respect, and common decency in this forum that we display when we are out geoing. CITO and leave the place (to include the forum) as good as or better than when we arrived.
  17. We are proud South Carolinians and I am currently serving my 32nd year in the South Carolina Army National Guard. This issue is about common courtesy and good manners in visiting all cache sites, not just the ones in cemeteries. The individuals who are up in arms concerning disrespect of the dead need to divert their attention to the disrespect of the living that occurs in front of their faces every day. If noise could penetrate several feet of red clay and dead ears could discern noise after crossing the great divide, I would hope to hear the sounds of people enjoying life and visiting the area near my final earthly resting place, even during the hours of darkness. Regardless of the outcome of this legislative event we need to take this opportunity to reinforce the use of the Golden Rule within the caching community. TS, please let me know if I can assist with shining a positive light on geocaching in the great state of SC.
  18. Thanks Jeremy: Happy New year to all.
  19. I edited this cache on 23 Dec 04 when we swapped out the container. The map still shows up with minimum detail like a new cache just posted. Normally after a few days they were changing to the Geocache map. Its been a while since I added or updated a cache. I may have done something wrong. Please check it out for us. Thanks
  20. The Dollar Tree stores are an excellent source for starters.
  21. Dress in layers, wear a cap, use polypropolene long underwear, and drink plenty of water for hydration, but above all GET OUT THERE AND CACHE! We have more fun in the winter and early spring here in South Carolina than in the summer. You need to be aware of local hunting seasons if you cache in a wooded area, but you can wear a safety vest if this is the case. I hope you enjoy it the sport.
  22. 315 and SporTrak Pro. WE carry them both. The 315 crashed enroute to a cache and we swung by BB and purchased the ST so we could continue. I cleared all memory on the 315 and it started working again. The only problem we had with the ST was the cracks in the case. but the Thayers folks fixed that in short order and sent me a free windhield mount to boot. No complaints here, other than not finding enough time to cache!
  23. Well add DC3903 to the units with cracks. No abuse, and we've had it in a case. Cracks like all the rest! Just got the ST back from the UPS guy. Eleven day turn around with 2 weekends and the 4th of July slowing down the shipping process. I'm pretty pleased with that. They replaced the case and included the windshield mount and new manuals. The paperwork indicates that there is a 90 day warranty or the remainder of the original, which ever is greater. Well I,m going to try it out now.
  24. Well add DC3903 to the units with cracks. No abuse, and we've had it in a case. Cracks like all the rest!
