  1. My cache is just fine; I visited it today. I've checked the construction maps, and the hiding place appears to be in the area designated to remain as a public "wet lands". When the construction is complete, there will be easy access to my cache site. At that time, I will reactivate it. Thanks for the heads up!
  2. Thanks for posting the entire poem, EraSeek. It is one of my favorites!
  3. Dick asked me to add my picture:
  4. Congratulations to my good friend Dick, W7WT, for his 1500th find at "Winnienpoo, this one's for you", GCWFF7, near Nehalem, Oregon, on September 26, 2006. Not bad for a guy who is well into his eighties! You're the best, Dick!
  5. Congratulations to W7WT, Dick, for finding his 1300th cache. He did it at GC30, Mingo, which is the oldest active cache in the world. Here is a picture.
  6. I just reached another milestone. Today I logged my 100th DNF. That's about a 10% DNF rate. The sad part is that the DNFs seem to be coming more frequently now!
  7. Congratulations to W7WT, Dick, for finding #900 at Mountain Marsh (GC8). It was quite a thrill to see the oldest geocacher in Washington State (80 in April) find the oldest surviving geocache in Washington State. Way to go!
  8. The best part of this find was watching the oldest geocacher in Washington State (W7WT, Dick, turned 80 in April) find the oldest surviving geocache in Washington State. Very cool! Congratulations, Dick!
  9. W7WT, Dick, (who will have his eightieth birthday next month) and I, each found our eight-hundreth cache today. The location was Guillemot Cove Cache (GC39A0). The cache involved a round trip walk of over two miles, and an elevation change of over 400 feet. If Dick ever emails you and plays the "I'm old" card while asking for hints, don't fall for it. The guy is amazing!
  10. You think so? Check out this quote from another thread:
  11. Happy Birthday, Helen Marguerite!
  12. Please let us know the outcome. If it is not approved, I would also like to know the reason for disapproval. Many thanks!
  13. I propose a background check and a 3 day waiting period on all GPSr sales. That should solve the problem. </sarcasm> And all GPS receivers must be registered. All geocachers must be photographed, finger printed and licensed. Licenses will not be recognized from state to state. Harsh penalties for violating any of the above requirements.
  14. Man, I wouldn't go back in there in the daylight, let alone in the middle of the night. However, I would like to sit out on the trail and sip a couple of cool ones while I listen to all the four letter words for two plus hours.
  15. Congratulations to Dick, W7WT, (79.5 years old) for his 700th cache find at Half Moon Cache today. This was only my 600th, but I'm lots younger.
  16. Yikes ! I thought the two 'pointers' you took caching with you were called Lexie and Woody ! Hi Lolita! Woody is so friendly, he would probably help the bad guy rob me. Lexi on the other hand, might tear the guys face off. See you soon at the park! B.
  17. Things are only things. They are easily replaced. In fact, I carry replacement insurance, so if some dirtbag takes my things, it only takes a very short time before I replace all my things with brand new stuff. My life is a different story. True, it is insured, but it can't be replaced. Let me put it this way: I was a military officer for twenty years. For a good part of those twenty years, I was taught to break things and kill people (and you should all be glad of that). If I am ever faced with a life threatening situation, I will fall back on my military training. But only if my life is threatened. Not for things!
  18. Hi M! No, they stayed in the truck that day. They were not afraid of the swamp monsters, but they were afraid of getting wet (I carry them near my ankle). Besides, they knew I had lots of friends to protect me from Ellylidan and Peg Powler! Good to hear from you. B.
  19. A local cacher, and a very good friend, forwarded this forum to me. Since I am the owner of the TB, I would be happy to pick-up the TB from you. Several cachers have already emailed me concerning the TB and its related cache, The Lockbox. If it is convenient, I can pick the TB up tomorrow at a time and place of your choosing. However, I know that if you pass it to Fledermaus, he will take good care of it. Thanks for caring for The Key. And Ray, if you get it before me, thanks for fixing the problem!
  20. Sad but true: I very seldom go caching any more without my two good friends - Smith and Wesson. Oh, and BTW, my "License to Carry" is valid until July 29, 2009.
  21. Congratulations to W7WT for reaching 600 caches! At age 79, he piloted his boat out to Liberty Bay Resort cache, GCHPJ9, and found an underwater cache. Check out his picture on the cache page.
  22. Power is THE great aphrodisiac, isn't it, TMG? Good grief!
  23. Hello, Pooka. That is your name, isn't it. You see, I know you. I could smell you even over the stench of the bog when I came by yesterday. You are an evil little fairy, aren't you? BTW, I know that your tastes don't include the likes of MGTS. I don't understand that, but I accept it. So, next time I come by, I'm bringing someone that might be more to your liking. This gal is much more a curmudgeon, if you get my drift. I'll use her for bait! I'm sure I've awakened your taste buds now, haven't I? See you soon, Pooka!
  24. Okay, I've had my 60C for about a week. I've never downloaded maps into a GPS before, but I figured that one out by myself. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to get cache information into the darn thing so I can use the geocaching functions. So I've got some questions: 1. I've done a "Pocket Querie" on the site, but I haven't received the file in my email yet. How long does it take for the Pocket Querie to arrive in my email? 2. Once I get the file, I guess I've got to use EasyGPS to get the info into the 60C. When I try to "Add GPS" to the EasyGPS program, the Garmin "GPSMAP 60C" is not listed. Is there a work around? Do I just tell the EasyGPS program that I'm using some other Garmin GPS? Which one? 3. Then, the program wants to know the baud rate. I can't find that written anywhere in any of the manuals. Which baud rate do I tell the program to use for the serial port? These may seem like pretty easy questions, but to an old guy like me, they are real stumbling blocks. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks!
