  1. I really like that saying... hope you don't mind if I use it now and then... Scotaku - It seems that this game is too stressful for you to play by the rules like the rest of us. I hope you can find something simpler and more relaxing to do with your time. edited: corrected spacing Au contraire, I found the game quite enjoyable and I'll probably keep playing though I'll be thinking twice about telling anyone here. It's the other players in this most recent episode that have soured it for me. Alas, you won't see this reply until one of them says okay. Apparently I've not been clever enough in my brinksmanship and now have to hold hands. Don't worry, if I find what I'm looking for I won't be bothering you again.
  2. There are clearly two types of users to go along with the oddly split data and forum sites... man am I wishing I could have stuck to the one and never known about the other. Crack of dawn or no, the question remains unanswered. Thank you for your insights on how to edit logs and remove profile details. I want to remove my accounts. How do I do that? Hopefully the opening post will suffice without the fog below.
  3. Are you bucking for approver status? If, "You can remove your personal info (and you can already edit that out of your profile) but the rest is history," then how do I get the accounts purged? That's the questions. Obviously I cannot change the facts of where I've been. It would be nice, I believe I just used the word "preferable", to remove the visits from the logs I've touched, but that's not what I've asked for. This is like a bad episode of Star Trek.
  4. To keep this discussion in this thread (which is why it was opened) obviously I want my personal information removed from these places. The transactions can be removed as well, preferably. Now, who has an actual answer to the question instead of speculation and/or cheap shots?
  5. Close... they say, no you shpxing idiot while still not looking at the surrounding caches and how few of their owners even appear to be active in this "game" any longer. But a rule is a rule so, after being generally kicked around by now an overwhelming majority of approvers (all but one of whom, the original, have zero finds to their credit I might add*) I want the blasted cache stricken. But none of them seem even minimally able to do that. Sorry to hijack the thread. I was trying to keep this between myself and the jacknff approvers in the commentary log. Someone felt he(they) was about to be exposed and took the upper hand. And for the record, I'm actively seeking an actual cacher to rescue the bug and move it along. That would be as opposed to a number of site admins who evidently don't play this game or the original 'approver' who he himself is as far away as the submitted site as I am. :wtf?: * I just learned that the original 'approver' not only lives just as far away, but has never cached there either. It makes me wonder how you become an approver? For a handful it appears the only qualification was an account on geocaching/Groundspeak and a willingness to espouse rules in the face of logic and kind requests for common sense.
  6. Thanks for the prime example of "why"
  7. Oh yes I do. Where there's a database, there's a purge data function and I want out of both of these.
  8. How do I remove my account from the geocaching.com and Groundspeak.com forums? It's not covered in the FAQ's but I'm sure someone will have a link my stupid nff has missed in the myriad of rules.
  9. How do I formally request a different reviewer? My very first cache is being sat on by some elitist (it's in his handle) who will neither follow his own opening advice to me nor grant my request for a second, perhaps less anal, pair of eyes on my submission. It's the first unpleasant experience I've had in this hobby and is starting to piss me off.
  10. What Team Cacheopia said. Honestly, I've just read this thread from top to bottom and that is exactly the reply I was hoping I would be repeating. If you're feeling guilty or that you get too much from gc.com for free, PayPal Jeremy already and stfu.
  11. Cachew Nut's comments aside, I think this is an awesome idea and I agree on the possible causes for the lost yellow Jeep locationless cache. Jeep's contest signup is careful to instruct entrants to 'come back' after a date in the future to sign up for the next vehicle to be awarded. I am diappointed today to find that the Jeep 'bugs won't be in the wild for another month as I'd have loved to take one to Hawaii with me (yikes! this week!!!) but they'll be waiting when I get back.
  12. Sounds like you've dragged the split bar too low. Edge your pointer into GSAK and down toward the bottom. See if you cannot grab the bar and drag it back upwards to reveal the browser pane. As for Me and Win2K, Me is the last of Microsoft's single-user operating systems and has little to nothing in common with Win2K under the hood. Win2K (and XP) are based upon the multi-user OS development that began with NT. Microsoft (finally) realized that their software was often being used by more than one person. Speaking for myself, I love that my wife has her own XP desktop and I have mine. Resolution settings, colors, comfort and eae of use... but I hate XP's built-in need to phone home all the time. Presently, I'm fighting with geotoad trying to get gpx files that gsak will import.
  13. Good advice all, though it is not my intent to carry travel bugs to Hawaii just for the sake of carrying them. I may not have made that clear up above. I'd like to use my plane tickets as a means for helping bugs whose goal may be Hawaii (or further) or maybe something unusual. On the return trip, help some bugs on the islands make their to the US if that helps any particular bug. I was aware of the requirements to maintain any caches of my own and I'm already eyeing some old haunts where no caches exist at present. As for ratios, I'm not keeping score. The first bug I went for was one I saw that was close by and, well, I just wanted to see one! The second one was a surprise find. Both of them will get some snapshots taken in DC since neither has been there before and I think the families who created them would like that. 'Gotta get them moving as soon as the weather cooperates!
  14. My wife and I are anticipating a vacation in Hawaii. We would like to find a few 'bugs in our area within the month before we leave. We're thinking we'll concentrate on finding the 'bugs that have goals that Hawaii might help accomplish or whom have no destination and Hawaii would be nice to see. We'll be on four islands so we figure four 'bugs would be ideal. We'd like to score some 'bugs on Hawaii to bring back as well. We'll take a look at some of the 'bugs we might have a shot at and see if we can't help one or two get where they're going. That being said, is it proper to create a Bug Portal with the intent of collecting 'bugs that might benefit from our trip? My reasoning is this; if I happen to miss that a 'bug has been cached that could be helped by going on my trip, the opportunity for that 'bug is lost. Likewise, any travel bug already in someone's hands will escape my eyes since it won't be hidden for me to find at take along. If the holder knows he/she has a 'bug that could ride along with me, why not create a cache that gives them the chance to help? Any comments? I'm not headed to Hawaii for another 3 1/2 months. I figured my Hawaiian Bug Net wouldn't open up until at most a month before the trip. I'd like to allow enough time for helpers to find the cache and drop off their 'bugs but not so much time that they all sit in my hands for too long.
  15. Sending a 'bug to Japan should be very easy provided you set the '04 Tokyo Auto Salon as the desired destination. It may also help to attach a laminate card describing your 'bug and its desired goal. As for preparing for a long trip, I think it would be okay to 'cache a 'bug or two a week or two ahead of time, Even moreso if the 'bugs you find might be helped along by the trip you're taking. The same applies for 'bugs you might find while away from home who could benefit from traveling back with you.
