  1. Got my mission's coins off in the mail yesterday. Went prepped for an hour wait in line, and my christmas gift was that it only took 15 minutes Think that about wraps it up for me. I'll see what I can do about next year's, long as I can get some extras on coins nobody has (one should be easy enough, I should finally get my personal coin minted this year, and I don't expect to sell many). Thanks for a great idea fluttershy! Perhaps when this Santa gets his coin minted there'll be a coin in the mail to ya
  2. Heh, Santa's a lil embarrased here. My secret santa's coins showed up today (with a card, nice touch!). And nope, I didn't have any of them. Here's what I got 2006 Arizona (always said if I was forced to leave Minnesota, I'd want to moveto Flagstaff) Great Smoky Mountains And my personal favorite of the bunch A black nickel lildorkfish geocoin (Always thought this was a cool coin and icon, I'd seen one once briefly) As for this Santa, my coins WILL be in the mail tomorrow, sending post haste. Sorry about the delay, my elf just got me the coins today, I wanted to make sure I got something my person didn't have, as they already had all the coins I was prepped with. I've included something a lil extra for my tardiness, I'm hoping you'll be all the happier.
  3. Whoohoo! I got my email! Musta done something right
  4. I just got one cause I'm part Norwegian. Next I should look to see if there's a Swedish coin in the works (the other part of my heritage).
  5. Bummer. I thought ya meant the movie..... (one of my all time favorite movies)
  6. Mission received. Heh, this one's a doozy. I'll have the coins out JUST by the deadline (santa has a teeny weeny logistics problem). But since it'll be so close, I'm putting a little something extra with my shipment, so I think my target should be pleased.
  7. I ordered one (I hope I did it right anyways). Thank goodness for online translation dictionaries.
  8. Great idea! Sent my email. Unfortunately, I don't have a trading list currently, but I'd be pretty happy with whatever I get.
  9. Yeah, that would be difficult. You could do some sorta parody style easily enough I'd guess. Or tell Lucas there's money to be made selling geocoins, heh
  10. -16 F with -31 windchill. Fairbanks Airport Weather Nice... here in St. Paul Minnesota we aren't even close to that (and everybody always thinks Minnesota is cold) Heh, maybe when I retire (long time from now, I'm not that old yet) I'll move to a colder climate BTW I just put my order in for 4 of the coinaments (heh, nice to have some christmas shopping done) should be the only one you get to St. Paul MN today. Thanks again for the interesting contest!!!
  11. Heh, looks like I did too. I'll save ya some effort on looking me up, as I'll order a couple of the coinaments anyways (I got a christmas geocoin/ornament for some friends/family last year, I might as well keep up the tradition, and I didn't see any other ones come up this year that caught my interest).
  12. lol nice way to break the forums anyway Cool idea though.
  13. well I'll try.. doubt I'd get it......
  14. Any chance I can still get one. I sent an email back but never heard back. I assume it never went through. Stupid spam filters... I'd reaaaalllllyyyy like at least one coin, without having to go to ebay...
  15. Glenn, I emailed you back about the coins I was interested in, but never saw a response. Perhaps I was a victim of the spam filter as well? Anyways, I'm still interested in any finishes I can still get... Thanks!
  16. Interesting History. Given the date alone though, I'll have to be in for one of each version I can get (June 11th is my birthday, heh).
  17. I guess the first thing is to define what a Fair is. Looked it up on dictionary.com and got a few definitions. There was one that summed it up best for what I'm looking at. I would suggest the Category be named "Public Fairgrounds" but that's deceiving, as some fairgrounds are privately owned. For instance, the Minnesota State Fair is operated by a private company, but it's meant for the public. Would "Fairgrounds" work as the Category name? I think it would be best to accomodate County, State, and any other type of municipal "Fair" without getting too wordy in the Category listing.
  18. Okay I started a Management Group (finally figured out where the link to create one was, heh). As far as I know, County and State Fairs typically occur in the same locations at land set aside as County or State Fairgrounds. I know of three here in my area, the Minnesota State Fair, Ramsey County Fair and Washington County Fair, all of which have permanent locations. I'm not sure about permanent locations on other state fairs, perhaps that would just have to be a requirement though, Permanent Fairgrounds? Trick is, where to mark a waypoint. The most likely spot would be an entrance area for the Fairgrounds. I could see variables for what time of year the Fair occurs, maybe some history if people can look it up. I'll do a little research on my local ones and see what I can pull up, maybe form the Category based on what I find in common with local and worldwide Fairs.
  19. Hey all, I'm rather new to Waymarking, but have been caching for quite a while. I've posted a few waymarks (have yet to find any, but there's not a lot of activity in my area yet). You can all thank mtn-man for getting me interested in it, as he mentioned he was pretty involved. One thing that jumped out at me was the Renaissance Fairs, which reminded me of the Minnesota State Fair that goes on around the same time of year. After looking around, I hadn't seen a category that a State or County Fair would fit into, but I know a lot of areas have them, and that they occur at the same place from year to year (usually on lands designated as Fairgrounds) I'll write up a formal category (they can still be created, right?) and post it later. Since I'm new to this idea, I'd gladly accept any help from more experienced waymarkers. Also if I read the submission faq well enough, I think I need a group to manage the category...
  20. Just resubmitted my payment for my coin. Thanks for all the work you've put in on these. Sorry to hear you've had some hassles with the deal.
  21. <script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript"> for (z = 0; z < document.images.length; ++z) { if (document.images[z].alt == 'Traditional Cache') document.images[z].src="http://img.geocaching.com/user/591c7836-38b8-4d58-801b-4e2dd8f8da09.jpg"; } </script> That's how they did it.
  22. That might confuse people that think there's a geocoin in the cache... I'm a bit of an icon collector myself, but when the geocoin craze exploded, I was left with the harsh reality that I would never collect a "full" set of icons. Thankfully the trackables were moved to their own subpage so at least I've been able to collect a full set of geocache icons (save a mega event, a new one to go get). I'd be more in favor of something akin to what the subpage for trackables is. Maybe a "regional" or "special" subpage with icons you could collect. For example, say you code a special Route 66 icon to all caches along Route 66. When you click on the "regional/special" tab, you can see a route 66 icon with a number of how many that you've found. Click on it and you'd get a list of just route 66 caches that you've done. This could also help you sort your finds out by a category greater than "traditional" "multi" and whatnot. If you're looking to promote premium membership, add this as a feature that can be selected only by a premium member? Might not bring a lot of money in the door, but you'd get more memberships.
  23. Heh. I've been out of coin collecting since the market exploded. 250 icons... lesse, if I bought/aquired every trackable geocoin.. even at a modest 5 dollars a piece. It would cost me 1250 bucks. Ouch! Now getting my own coin minted doesn't sound terribly bad.
  24. I'd have to disagree with a rating system. My basic reason is this. There are a few cachers in my area that strongly dislike certain cachers and specific caches. Giving them a tool like this would be like begging them to virtually trash a cache. While the cache might be fun for people to do, what if the neutral cachers look at the page and see it's had a bad review, and decide not to go to it? They could be depriving themselves of a cache just because of some vindictive cacher. In a more perfect world, that type system would be great, and people would learn to place nicer/more interesting caches. Unfortunately, we don't live in that kind of world.
