  1. I was going to mention jtrack, cool applet too. I have no idea why, but I used to think the GPS satelites were in geosyncronous orbit. So they're a little closer than I though, interesting.
  2. So when did the KOIC coins come out? And I'm guessing since people are trading them they can't be purchased?
  3. any eccentric billionaires scheduled to head to the ISS any time soon? Perhaps we could introduce them to geocaching and get em to bring a GPS.. perhaps place a hide somewhere on the ISS? I'm thinkin it'd be a perfect spot for an altoids tin sized cache. Ruleswise, I believe it's public land, owned by governments, well shoot, it'd be a moving cache though... perhaps special dispensation, since you can track the ISS on some websites... anyone know if you can up the terrain rating to 6 stars?
  4. Hey NFA, the Wednesday deadline has come and past, still no benchmark #42 here. I'm going to email you my home address, can you track the package and see what might have happened to it? Hopefully it's not permanently lost, I had a neat idea for that specific number....
  5. Like the lord of the rings "lost" character caches, great idea! I'm currently researching a series I hope to start placing, the old street car lines in the Twin Cities (Minnesota). I'm not sure how many locations I'll be able to use yet, so I don't know how big the series will get, but I know of at least 2 locations now. Trouble is they haveta be micros, because the areas are all fairly small. Even going to place a few old streetcar tokens in each cache, along with a brief detail of the streetcar history for each area. (For those that don't know, our steetcar system was dismantled back in the 50s, now the metro area is trying to build a new "Light Rail" system, how ironic).
  6. I always like a cheap tshirt! Bought one of last years, and just recently ordered this years. Hope to continue the tradition.
  7. I'm a moun10bike icon short of a full set, unless there's any hidden ones out there I'm missing... Got a plan in the works for that one though The trouble might come up if/when TPTB start allowing other geocoins to be tracked. Wonder if they'll get their own icons, or will just use the generic geocoin one, or if a new generic one will be created...
  8. Weird, I just started doing that this evening. Getting ready for the summer caching season, and being able to cache after work (daylight saving time). The workaround works beautifully, now I know all the caches nearby my work that I haven't found.
  9. Still waiting on mine... hopefully I'll see it soon.
  10. I was just wondering if anyone out there knew of any mapping software that can run a line between two or more waypoints (think of it like connect the dots)? Getting more into mapping, I thought it would be visually interesting to display either a network of caches, or just a network of waypoints I come up with from other tasks. So far I haven't run into any software that can do it, but then again, there might not be much of a demand for it.
  11. I have a rino 130, beautiful machine, couldn't ask for much more in a GPS, except perhaps a temperature guage and having a built in TNC for APRS, just not enough market for that I suppose. No idea where your county is though, sorry.
  12. Sure, I did it on mine without even asking check out the release date on my "Hall of Shame" it's a geocoin I use to track all my DNFs (that were actually ones I couldn't find)
  13. I've already got an interesting idea for mine, soon as it gets in, I might need to let it weather outside a bit (to let the metal oxidize so it doesn't stand out) before I put my plan into action though...
  14. lol none taken. Some people here call it that, but honestly it's not all that bad. I like it though, no bugs, and signal reception is great without leaves on the trees.
  15. Frozen? Tundra? My home this is! BTW always nice to have another cacher in MN, I'm sure you'll be welcomed if you end up here.
  16. sounds like there needs to be two associations. One like a 1 star hotel, another like a 5 star That way some can have TBug hotels with the requirement of take a bug leave a bug, and another can go without the restriction.
  17. Been reading through this tread and found it to be an interesting idea. I'd like to try out an exchange with a cacher from Sweden or Norway. If there's any question, I'm from Minnesota in the US. I think it'd be a neat way to learn a little bit about my heritage, and in return, for someone to learn a little bit about how things are here in Minnesota (we actually have quite a few decendants of people from that region). I can be reached via my geocaching profile's email address.
  18. Ahh, yeah I really do need to practice being more speciific. 2 will be fine, I'll get a check out in Monday's mail.
  19. I hsould be getting my check off to you, can't remember how many I said I'd get though. Are you keeping a list anywhere?
  20. doh! Ahh well, someday I'll haveta manage a trade errrr somethin.
  21. you're not actually selling some are you? Cause if ya are, I'd love to get one... Sadly I have no personal coin to trade yet.
  22. Interesting. Wish I knew of a place to benchmark, is the idea of the sale of these that they be placed anytime in the near future, or could one be purchased now and not placed for an indetermined time?
  23. I dunno, maybe the guy running the truck out east had a lead foot? I probably had mine on the same truck as the one headed to michigan.
