  1. +1 It has also made us more careful not to accuse the previous finder if we find the cache damaged/ exposed/ in need of some TLC. +2 That's happened to me too. I'm a CO so I know not to leave a cache exposed. Yeah it feels a little insulting. Water damage has happened to our caches - most often because I used cheap containers. Over the years I've replaced all the dollar store and rubbermaid containers with real lock n locks. But occasionally a baggie will get caught in the seal of a real lock n lock and water gets in. I would never blame the previous finder even if I knew for sure they made the mistake. Accidents happen. It's part of cache ownership. Fix the cache problem and all is well again. Sounds like a grumpy CO that doesn't like the responsibility of cache maintenance. Thank you- I did feel very insulted. You were indirectly accused right? As in someone mentioned in there log? Or were you E-mailed and accused personally? I was personally accused.

  3. Does anybody else hate being acused damaging a cache that they log a find to? I was acused of letting water get into a container at a cache in Michigan. This was not true. Does the owner's ever think that there could be a hole in the container? Or maybe an animal chewed a hole in the container? I wish people would stop and think before they react. 4. I guess I'm a little confused. How, after 7-8 years of organized geocaching has the most basic, fundamental issue of "I found it/ No you didn't" not been solved? I'm not sure why after a cache owner has placed their cache they have any involvement with it other than maintaining it.
  5. Hey, I'm Slade and my caching cohort is Angel. I don't take any of this too seriously. My main goal of geocaching is to learn how to use my GPSr, not necessarily amass finds or DNF's. I find this particular forum to be amusing, if not informative.
