  1. Me to Nappy10. I sent a request on the same day too. Waiting on a ship confirmation. I have to place the Jeep in the Green and Yellow cache I own when I get it as only green and yellow item can be put in the cache!
  2. My first bug in the Cannonball Run race did the same thing! I doubt that my bug will ever show back up as the cachers have not logged into the site in over 2 months and no replies to any emails. They cached for about a month, took the bug and never to be seen from again! On you TB just place it in an unknown locatation. You can mark it that way on the bugs page. If it ever happens to show up in a cache again, the finder can just "grab" it from the unknown location, drop it in the cache they found it and then pick it back up. This will keep the mileage as accurate as possible under the circumstances. If you place your TB in a graveyard cache mileage will be added. You can also release the copy tag of the travelbug.
  3. I have family in the KC area so some of the first caches I hit were in the KC area! Also when I started, I asked about some easy kid caches in the KC area. Yes I would love to see some jeeps get started in the less populated areas of the USA. It would make a reason for some cachers to visit less populated areas for the jeep TBs!
  4. Sparky-Watts - I am in a far more remote area - NW Kansas! I was hoping to get some yellow jeep travel bugs in this area too to place but it is much further for me to any geocaching group! Kansas City is 6 hours away and Denver is 5 1/2 hours. I am really doubting that I will see a yellow jeep travel bug in the area. I was hoping to be able to place some yellow jeeps in the area - especially at the Mingo cache which is the oldest cache in existance and less than 30 miles from me! I do know that the Kansas City group is having an event this saturday so I am wondering if they will have the yellow jeeps there? A couple of weeks ago when I looked at the event page, there was not any mention of yellow jeeps at this event (yet). Hydee any chance that we can request some yellow jeeps or do you know when individuals will be able to request jeeps off the website?
  5. Today I had the most ever - 3! Not too bad with only 60 actual caches within 100 miles of our house. I am now down to 2 in hand tonight.
  6. Wheels-01 arrived safely in Kansas! Will place it this weekend on a cache excursion that we are planning. Looks like this bug is headed east. We really enjoyed the "extras" in the package! Everyone should look at the bugs BlueBird5 has started - there are rewards for the movers and the bugs meeting their goal!
  7. Yes we are in a cache poor area! The problem is with gas prices cannot afford a house in an expensive area. Our area has more houses for sale than buyers so housing is pretty inexpensive around here. It does make going caching a great outing for the kids to look forward to since we are not going every week. We are starting to get to where some of the closest unfound caches are where we never travel so they would have to be special planned cache trips. The remaining ones we have been getting are where we make a slight detour to hit them on the way to visits. Makes some of the caches expense with our gas $1.95 a gallon and we get 18-20 mpg on the van.
  8. Our next goal is to find all caches within 60 miles of our house. We just completed all caches within 50 miles last Sunday. Another goal is to hit a cache on each trip we go to so we can break up the long drive for the kids.
  9. Also sent an email on the way. I am close to the Mingo cache in NW Kansas which is the oldest cache still in existance.
  10. I would even like to see the distance even go to 75 miles out in our situation. I am in a very rural area and there are only 3 caches within 50 miles that are not mine. Needless to say, I have found every cache within 50 miles of my location!
  11. Yep I have forgotten about the race My cannonball racer was "stolen" the day after it was placed into the race and no replies from the new cacher "da fam" that logged it out in the cache log. No logged movements on the site either! We were all excited about our first TB race as well as the kids but this really put a damper on this race for us from watching from the sidelines. We expected some of our bugs to get "taken" but expected them to at least get 10 miles before disappearing!
  12. 7 so far! Had no idea that many yet! - KS, MO, CO, WY, MT, SD and NE I should add quite a few more states when we go from KS to PA the end of July!
  13. From Hoxie, Kansas (the drought area in the NW) Within 50 miles - 3 that are not mine and will get the last one Sunday! Although the closest is Mingo which is the oldest cache in existance! Within 100 miles - 74 not including mine.
  14. We just took a vacation from Kansas to Montana and then onto the Black Hills. Our most favorite cache site north of Denver was Riverside Bug Hotel (GCHA41). It has a beautiful waterfall in the area and is very easy to get to from the highway. While you are in Denver, if you like Mexican food Casa Bonita is a wonderful place to eat. There is live entertainment including indoor cliff divers - it has been 11 years since I have been though.
  15. Today I moved my cannonball racer to an unknown location. It was picked up on 4-12 according to the cache log by "da fam". The bug was never logged out of the cache. They have not been on the site for over a month and have not replied to any of my emails. I think the bug has became a trophy! So Big Green Mean Machine logged a total of 10 miles! That was sure an expensive travel bug to place and only travel to 1 cache. I even had the printed instructions that said it was not a normal trade item and to not pick up if you are not going to log the bug. There were also instructions that it was a racing bug and to quickly move it cache to cache.
  16. If I come upon a Travel Bug hotel, I will move every one that I can help even if I do not currently have a bug to drop. The travel bugs are meant to travel and are not the property of the cache owners so they cannot make rules regarding them. The more rules a travel bug hotel has, the more it becomes a travel bug prision.
  17. Ok still no reply from the cacher that picked up our cannonball racer without logging it. The bug was picked up a month ago and the cacher has not logged into the site for almost a month. Yes the bug included laminated instructions for how to log the bug and that it was a racing bug. The "this is no ordinary trading item and do not take if you do not have plans to log the travels online thing. I do not think that they are going to log the bug or reply to my email. They have only logged 4 caches so far. So do I move the bug to an unknown location so the cache page is correct? This is our first travel bug and the first MIA.
  18. I would like to see this option too. It might be nice to have some way to mark that such and such travel bug that is logged into the cache was not there at a visit. Maybe after 30 days of a log of a bug reported not in the cache it would then go to an unknown area if there is not further log history. I do think that there should be a waiting time required before the bug could be put into the unknown after reported missing.
  19. Thanks SAK Tesoro! He made a special trip out to a cache to investigate the log to see who took our travel bug without logging it! Our bug has been missing from the cache for almost 1 month now! I have emailled to person so hopefully they will get it logged and back into circulation very soon. The person that picked up the bug is a newbie and has not visited the site in almost a month. So hopefully the bug did not become a trophy!
  20. To enter the contest just go to the main page of this site at geocaching.com and click on the image of the yellow jeep. Then you will go to a page where you can click on entering the contest or also sign up for email alerts when yellow jeeps are close by.
  21. I would also like to see a little yellow jeep icon specifically for the jeep travel bugs. That would make them easy to find out where they are supposed to be at and then also have the people really getting out and searching for the jeeps. Although a special icon might cause Yellow Jeep swap events! LOL So will the travel bugs be called Yellow Jeep #1, Yellow Jeep #2, . . .etc?
  22. I can't wait until a yellow jeep TB makes it way into our area. This is a very neat promotion and I am sure will bring a flood of people into geocaching! Since there is not a geocaching organization in NW Kansas, I am hoping to be able to request some of the yellow jeeps to place. I especially want to place one in the Mingo cache which is the oldest cache in existance.
  23. Cool button design! My 2 cub scouts that entered the race will love them! Thanks for putting this race together!
  24. Maybe I still have hope then! I am in 35th and dropping! My bug was placed April 11 and then when someone came by on the 15th to pick it up, it was gone. No logs for the bug being picked up or the geocachers visit to the cache yet Hopefully there will be logs soon and it will be across the states! Yes I am worrying as it was our first bug!
