  1. Your link gives me: Error 500: That is the link to the page - I guess you can't get there directly. You can get there by going to Mopar and looking at the Jeep Accessories - Audio - Navigation System
  2. I see where the Jeep Wrangler has a GPS Trail Guide option which looks appears to be a rebadged Garmin Quest II. Only differences appear to be the grey case and docking system. MOPAR
  3. About a year or so ago, Target had the Legend C online for a ridiculously low price. They had it confused with the original Legend. I, along with several others here, ordered one in hopes they would honor the price, but we all struck out as Target emailed us and cancelled the orders.
  4. megamapper - Unless I have a bad seal and s. Georgia humidity got in (which I doubt), the Legend has never been near water.
  5. Well, I did let it snuggle up to the Quest at night inside the console!
  6. My Legend, which I had planned on putting up for sale since I bought a Quest, came up with the lines in the display problem and "up" click stick not working after it sat unused in my vehicle for about 3 months. Up until then I never had a problem with the unit. I brought it inside the house and let it sit for a few days thinking it was a goner. Well, I turned it on again and the display had cleared up, but the "up" position of the click stick still did not work. After vigorously working the click stick in all positions for a few minutes, it suddenly began to work. It's been about 3 weeks now and all seems well with daily testing. This unit although 1 1/2 years old, had realitively little use. I wonder if you need to regulaly use the click stick to keep it in good working condition.
  7. I was able to load all of Georgia (includes bordering sections of Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina) and all but the very southern tip of Florida.
  8. The Sports Authority I went to in Tallahassee, FL had no Garmin Units - said they were only going to carry Magellen from now on and had a very small selection of those.
  9. Refurbished doesn't necessarily mean repaired. Quite a few units are returned to the place of purchase because the customer simply changed their minds. Nothing wrong with the unit, but it cannot be sold as new and is returned to the manufacturer.
  10. For the Quest: List Price: $642.99 Buy new: $369.94 Not the best deal either. The list price from Garmin is now $499.99, and I just purchased one for $346.74 + $9.95 S/H from provantage.com
  11. Neo Geo, To clarify, the speedometer indicates I am going 3 MPH faster than what the GPSr indicates. I was wondering why more than the usual amount of cars were passing me when I first got the vehicle. I don't agree that auto manufactuers set their speedometers to intentionally show a faster speed than actual speed. My previous 3 vehicle have all been right on with the GPSr when equipped with the original specified tire sizes.
  12. I've already reported to the service department where I purchased my new car that I wanted them to check the speedometor accuarcy when I bring it in for next service because my gpsr shows the speed shown on the car's speedometer is 3 mph too slow.
  13. I take this forum to be for the discussion of "Any and all discussions about GPS units" as stated in the forum description, not just geocaching related. I take the Geocaching Topics forum to be for geocaching topics only. There are a lot of topics in here that don't relate directly to geocaching, but to the operation of a GPSr.
  14. Care to say what kind of GPS unit you have? I'm looking for a handheld that does a good job of autorouting.
  15. Price drop on Legend C has started too! Before the $50.00 rebate ended July 5th, prices were around $290.00 at GPSNOW and Tiger GPS. Now they are around $252.00.
  16. I've been holding off purchasing either a 60C or Legend C due to other $$ obligations. Does Garmin usually go back to its regular prices after a promotion ends, or do they sometimes extend the promotion? I hope they just lower the price $50.00 so I won't have to fork over extra money and wait for the rebate.
  17. Other than memory size and antenna type, why are the 60c or 60cs deemed to be the favorites here by most over the Legend C or Vista C? I'm on a tight budget and would like to upgrade from my Legend to a Garmin color screen unit by July 5th to get the rebate. Just how much bigger is the screen on the 60c than the Legend C? (It appears to me that the Legend C screen is smaller than the Legend). I know I can get the specs from Garmin's site, but I have yet to actually see a 60c or 60cs in person and would like some thoughts. I do wedge the Legend between the dash and windshield while driving and realize the 60's won't do that.
  18. Last night I saw a Garmin television commercial on NBC with Chinese basketball player Yao Ming having a portable dash mounted GPSr on some old classic car. Do Garmin or Magellen regularly run TV commercials? This is the first GPS TV commercial I've ever seen. I'm in the southeast, so maybe its a regional first.
  19. After having not used my GPS for a few weeks, I went to find a cache and checked the battery level before leaving using the internal battery level indicator which showed about 90%. Within the hour, the unit shut off due to drained batteries. I did have the battery type set to alkaline which is what I was using. After the unit shut down, I was able to power it back on long enough to check the battery level which then showed no juice left. As most of you do, I now carry spares, but luckily I was near a Dollar Store that day so was able to continue on after buying some fresh batteries.
  20. OK azcowboy - good idea! Garmin shows: Temperature range: 5°F to 158°F (-15°C to 70°C) I wonder what the range is for alkaline batteries.
  21. Will heat in a vehicle parked out in the sun for an extended time damage a GPS unit left inside the vehicle? I keep mine in a storage compartment out of direct sunlight. My garage door remote opener is attached to the sun visor and suffers no ill effects. It can get up to 100 degrees outside temperature in the summer where I live, and I know it gets much hotter in the closed vehicle which is parked outside at work each day. (Garmin Legend)
  22. Saw this in today's news: GPS Device Finds Robbery Suspect POSTED: 8:55 am EDT May 6, 2005 UPDATED: 9:34 am EDT May 6, 2005 CINCINNATI -- Police say modern technology foiled an old-fashioned bank robbery. A teller placed an electronic Global Positioning System device in a bag of stolen money, allowing police to track down a suspect in just 42 minutes Thursday. "Around here (GPS) is still relatively rare," Hamilton County sheriff's office spokesman Steve Barnett said. "But with the advancement in technology and the continued success of catching bank robbers, soon I would hope that other financial institutions would jump on board." Authorities said that after William Ingram, 46, left a U.S. Bank in suburban Colerain Township, the GPS device tracked him to a car dealership in Hartwell, where he was returning a Honda that he had borrowed for a test drive but actually used as a getaway car. When Ingram was confronted, money began spilling from his pockets, officials said.
  23. It should be like the Legend. Go to the Main Menu Page and move to the "page looking" icon at the top of the screen. Press the click stick and owner information selection will appear. You can clear out the old info by doing the same thing on the next screen or you can edit the existing info.
  24. During the last week, I've seen a U. S. Air Force TV ad with skiers using a GPS. If you have seen it, is it a Magellan unit?
  25. Lt. Sniper - I ran the spyware program again and found 8 new tracking cookies - none related to this plug-in. I recently upgraded Firefox to the latest version and may have lost it there. Anyway, I've got it back and thanks for posting the link. Regards!
