  1. Thanks everyone. Especially about the waypoint averaging. I had not noticed that button. I have 70 caches ot there so it'll help!
  2. Hi All, Before I bought the device I thought I would get accuracies within a few feet in in around where I live (Cincinnati) with the WAAS system. I buddy of mine who works for the city told me a couple of years ago they use it and got accuracies that good (for locating things in the field). Am I not using it right (I do have WAAS turned on)? Or is it still reasonable to see 15-20 foot accuracy even though I'm definately near cell phone towers. (Maybe they all don't work with WAAS?) Thanks, dan
  3. FROM THE GPSFILEDEPOT.COM FORUM M ODERATOR POSTING.... Re: GPSr Turn-By-Turn Navigation Not Recognizing Ibycus US Street Map « Reply #1 on: June 05, 2009, 06:12:24 AM » Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That mapset doesn't auto-route. Also Ibycus' website was just disabled, so AFAIK; the only way to get the full Windows set is in this post: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3956353 LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE *NOT* ROUTABLE (TURN BY TURN DIRECTIONS) MY MAP WASN'T EITHER.....
  4. Hi All, Struggling with getting this to do exactly what I want. If I just keep caching and loading in the file after each trip I get a huge list of caches on GC.com - even the ones I logged already. If I "clear the whole list" then GC.com jsut reloads the full list from my garmin. What I want is to just to get the newer caches. One way I did this was to keep 1 (the last) geocache from my las trip on the garmin. I deleted the full list of GC.com and loaded the 1. After the next hunt then I get the list of new caches (+1). Am I doing this wrong? If not, I'd like to make a develop request for GC.som. Have it keep track of the day of the last caches loaded and only load newer ones. But don't require I keep the whole list online (it can be hundred long and u have to scroll to the bottom each time!) Is this the correct way/place to make such a request/suggestion? cache_n_out
  5. Nuvi 205. for $100 bucks you get turn by turn and paperless caching.
  6. Ummm, when order custom made coin (your own design) coins there is usually a 100 minumum - and they are indentical... Maybe I didn't state this, but these were custome designed and fabricated geocoins.... Same coin - same mission..... Nope you did not state your intent at all or why you seemed so upset that the existing system didn't allow for something so out of the ordinary. What you could do is write your missions in html and include the URL to the photo then just paste that little bit of code in each activated coin page's mission or description and save you a lot of extra labour. Thanks for the idea! (oh and I'm not upset! :-)

  9. HI All, This one is for the Groundspeak folks. I got myself 100 coins and I'm OK with having to type in 100 codes to activate, but why can't I have just one coin photo and mission that can apply to all 100 coins? Do you really want me to update 100 copies of the same digital photo of the coin? And cutting and pasting the same mission 100 times. Seems like there has to be an easier way.... cache_n_out
  10. Actually, TC is more of a scoring system than rating. Rating would be difficult as mentioned by others. Everyone has their preferences. But I think you could get reasonable consensus on difficulty of terrain and hide. It would be up to GC.com to implement a "scoring" tally to reward those folks who want a high "score". I guess external software could do the same thing with a pocket query.
  11. If the name can be spken here ---- terracaching works with such a system. Not a totally bad idea for those who are competitive. Hard finds are more points. The GC.com method is competitive too, but its just raw total numbers, so to compete is a game of thoasands of PnG and urban micros.
  12. Hi All, I could use some guidance when it comes to these logs and some information. Is there a link on GC.com? From what I've been able to gather, if you give a cache and "Maintenance" tag the clock is running for the owner to address an issue. (Anyone know how long?) If they don't log something in reply a volunteer takes some action (archiving). I assume you do this if there is some real impediment for the next cacher to find and log the cache. Would you include: - Wet log? - Missing cache (after verfiying with previous finders) - bad coordinates (more than 30 feet off - verified by other finders logs)? - (anything else?????) So when would you log a "needs archiving"? Seems to invoke a faster response. There are several "orphan" caches in my area that are in really neat locations and they are missing, soaked, and otherwise neglected (owners who don't respond to emails concerning whether their cache is missing). I think it degrades the experience and takes up room (a .1 mile radius to be presice) to place another, cared for cache in the same area. Maybe there should a "request adoption" optiion for these orphans. Right now, only the owner can initiate an adoption.
  13. It would be nice if there was a "nano-size" pick when creating a cache listing. So many people use them, some mention it in the description, but a pick would encoruge more disclosure. It would also be nice when I go to log a TBUG if I only had to input the # once. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I have to "track" it then "log" it and that requires putting it in twice. I do cut and paste, but why not elimanate the step.
  14. Another protocol question. Would it be bad form to attach something to someone else's tbug chain? Nothing sinister - maybe a calling card you u r 1 of the folks who moved it along?
  15. Hi, My name is Dan Bohlen and I had a Peanut Allergy Awareness coin made. My son has severe peanut allergies. I've heard from some folks that they would like to purchase some. I saw some posted the photo I have of them (not the best pic...) The coins are 1.5" in diam, 4mm thick, with gold plating. I have trackable and some non-trackable I bought. To buy I've been told the easiest and cheapest is if you send me an email with your mailing info and froward a payment to my PayPal account. I've never done this before, but I've been told by someone else here in the forum you can send mony to paypal with just my email address: dbohlen@cinci.rr.com The coins are (with shipping in the US) $10 for a trackable $8.50 for a non-trackable You can use my address above to contact me. Thanks for the interest and raising awareness of this serious condition. A friend of my wife had a daughter die after eating a cookie from Subway. (They made peanut butter cookies on the same pan earlier.) http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=2220184 Dan
  16. Hi All, I've used WORD and tried another editor or two. Most times when I go to cut and paste the HTML source code into the little box to do my GC listing - the result looks poor and different on the cache listing page. Any suggestions of software/tips to WYSIWYG on GC.com? Thanks,
  17. Hi All, I'd like to squeeze more power out of my Garmin. (I know it's not the best GC tool out there - bought it for road navigation...) Anyone know how to use the extended memory for a caching purpose? Any way to extend the info of downloaded caches - more than just the coordinates. I use EasyGPS and I've tried GSAK (haven't figured it out much). Or maybe someone can tell me I'm wasting my time... Thanks
  18. I get to meet more of my local law enforcement officers!
  19. Hi All, Just thought I'd toss this out there. There seem to be a TON of nano- sized caches out there. Some folks are nice enough to mention it in the listing, but if there was an option in the list catagory to pick it I think most folks would clue you in. Dan
