  1. . . . and if no one maintains such a list, how do you find the truly exceptional caches?
  2. Geocaching.com does not allow users to rate caches, presumably because different people have different likes and dislikes. As such, when planning a caching adventure I am forced review log entries cache-by-cache to see if a prospective cache is good, okay, or lousy. Occasionally, though, you stumble across a cache that rises above the crowd and is truly exceptional, regardless of your individual preferences. Does anyone maintain a bulletin board or other listing, preferably by regional areas (Cincinnati is my home), with a list of exceptional caches?
  3. I totally agree. Micros should not be considered "traditional" caches, but rather a unique type in and of themselves. If you like micros, more power to you, but they are not traditional caches.
  4. Not too interesting - just a photograph of myself.
  5. nevermind - here is the link: http://www.talkroot.com/tech/index.php/t-5...irectRoute.html
  6. The links with instructions (both on Amazon.com and Magellan.com) how to hex edit the exectuable are dead. Would someone please post the instructions here?
  7. Think about it this way: if you left cool swag, wouldn't you want to know when someone took it?
  8. Is there anyplace to obtain trail data to download to my GPSr?
  9. A opened but full can of sardines that "matured" in the heat . . . what a SMELL!
  10. When you used the rechargeable batteries, how much usaeage time would you get before the low battery warning?
  11. I believe they are 2300 Mah MiMH batteries by Energizer. At any rate, they were expensive.
  12. I've tried using rechargeable batteries with my Magellan SporTrak Color, but the GPSr prematurely powers down due to low power. I recognize rechargeable batteries have a lower potential than alkaline batteries, and I've searched the GPSr menus for some kind of setting, but to no avail. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with this issue? Thanks in advance.
  13. A piece of evidence does not have to be conclusive to be admissible. Usually, a point of fact is proven by many little pieces of circumstantial evidence. Ultimately, the trier of fact (usually a jury) would weight the credibility of the evidence and reach a conclusion. A cache log, whether online or physical, would be admissible in court; however, it would be subject to impeachment. The opposing lawyer may challenging the authenticity of the log entry (namely, did the purported person actually make the entry) as well as the timing of the entry when made. Forensic experts can opine on the authenticity of handwriting and the age of ink. When the log was signed relative to other entries could help authenticate the time of entry. Perhaps Law and Order should integrate this theme into a show . . .
  14. Do I carry a gun - absolutely not. I suspect that if one carries a gun while geocaching, they probably carry a gun at all times.
  15. . . . and I'm male - you can call me "Joe Average"
  16. I'm amazed that so many people (including myself) are motivated to share their age. I'm 38 with twin 5 year old boys! Wow, that felt good
  17. I knew I got into geocaching for a reason. I'm still looking for one of THOSE caches! I wonder if that would qualify as a virtual cache under the new guidelines.
  18. I always pack a defibrillator, a gas mask, and a can of paint stripper - you never know when they might come in handy while caching. Who knows, I may start carrying a gun too.
  19. I tried, but no luck for downtown Cincinnati (45202) Interestingly, the color images were available from Google.
  20. I love USAPhotoMaps, but I dont' get color satellite images. Are the Google images true color or are they "colorized"?
  21. I started this before sbell111's post. 5 stars definitely is the correct difficulty rating.
  22. Perhaps I'm missing something, but I recommend against going to a place that dangerous, armed or otherwise.
  23. I'm going to start bringing a portable defibrillator - it sure would be nice to have if there was a cardiac emergency. Perhaps a gas mask too.
