  1. Also remember that even if you are placing your cache on "public" property, you still need to get permission. I placed my first caches a few months ago and what took the most effort from me was figuring out who owned the public land (one group owned the land and another the easement) and getting their permission. Everyone was happy to have another use for the land and the prospect of more visitors using it; it was just getting I's dotted and T's crossed. Not all public land allows geocaches and you can't assume if there is already a cache in a public area, that another could be placed without obtaining permission.
  2. What to heck is this about? I am curious - tell me more but EM me please. Here's the thread.
  3. You're welcome. It was sad not to see you this year. Like I said, there are probably more. 6. TeamAmaroo has a thread going with coins for sale. They have a Wish You Were Here on there.
  7. Police note high incidence of April fools By SUE MELLO Staff Reporter April Fool’s Day was officially last Wednesday but the Boothbay Harbor Police Department reports that the annual event seemed to last longer than usual this year. The first anonymous fool turned up last Saturday night, with a seriously wrong number. A juvenile in pursuit of marijuana thought he was calling a drug dealer, but misdialed and reached Officer Jared Mitkus on the police cruiser cell phone instead. The juvenile asked to buy some marijuana and agreed to a meeting place. When the would-be buyer arrived at the Meadow Mall parking lot, to his chagrin, Officer Mitkus was waiting for him. No arrest was made in the incident, but Mitkus reports having a serious discussion with the youth. Another fool left $4,000 worth of marijuana in a metal box at the Boothbay Harbor Cemetery, presumably for pickup by a buyer. However, that drug deal was waylaid when two geocachers - treasure hunters participating in an online game using GPS devices - stumbled onto the drugs and reported their discovery to BHPD. Police confiscated the marijuana; no arrest was made. Unfortunately I didn't have a thing in the swag bag that would have made for an even trade. And we did drive it to the police station, mostly because we were so weirded out we just wanted to get out of there ASAP and threw the ammo can in the car without really thinking about it. It never even occurred to me to have the cops come to me! I did apologize to the CO that the cop wouldn't give us her ammo can. She said: "Ammo can?!! Mine was a Lock and Lock!" She did go out a few days later with the police to pick up her container. And, as for the cop, he told me there was $6,000 there, not $4,000 as erroneously reported.
  8. Last Saturday was already planned out for a caching trip with my cousin. She was driving two hours to spend the weekend so I couldn't tell her we were going to hang out at home instead to order some crabs. I brought the laptop and searched out all the libraries and Paneras in every town we were in, but it all worked out and today they arrived. They were so worth it! [/img]
  9. Congrats everyone and thank you Opalsns. You are so generous with your cointests!
  10. Opened my mailbox today and there were all these crabs clamoring to get out! [/img]
  11. We were looking high and low for a cache on the edge of some woods last month. Finally found the ammo can hidden very well, but way off from the coords. Wasn't a big surprise though because previous loggers mentioned bad coords or jumpy GPSs. The surprise was the full pound of pot we found inside. Dropped it at the police station and then suggested the CO archive it post haste!
  12. How's this for a package? [/img] I was trading with Pabloturtle for the whales when he said it was time I had an ET in my collection as well so thanks for that trade too. I love it. If anyone has the Tahiti version for trade, please email me. And thanks also for the nice card and coin you included.
  13. I emailed them last week and they said they were working on the site and expected to take new posters sometime in June or July.
  14. Great timing for a cointest because just today I was thinking: There are three kinds of people in the world: those who can count and those who can't.
  15. Got my Thundereggs in the mail a few days ago and they came out great. I liked them in the pics, but the pics really don't do them justice; they are even better in person. I really like the three dimensional backs. [/img] When I ordered them, I wasn't sure how thick they were going to be because the 3D makes them look really tall. They are regular height though and as a result feel great in your hand. I took a pic of one side by side with another copper coin. [/img] Great job you guys! I love them
  16. When you go to TnTGeocoins they say they hope to see people in TN for Geowoodstock. They stop short of actually saying whether they will be there for business or pleasure, but is anyone lucky enough to be there this week?
