  1. Thanks for the replies. I did check out Totally Tubular but had ruled it out because I generally suck at puzzle caches . I do have confirmation that I have the coordinates for Blur and Sorry, Charlie so those are on the to-do list. As far as school goes - they're pretty strict on skipping class. If you miss 2 hours out of the 24 hours scheduled for the class they kick you out . My class runs from 8:30 to 5:30 each day so I can get in a little caching before class but most of the after class caching will have to be done in the dark it seems. I have been going through the PQs looking for caches that are available 24/7 so I can do a little caching after class.

I will be coming down I-95 and have a few caches picked out for the trip down. Are there any must see virts I should do on the way?

  2. I'll be driving down to Melbourne next week and wanted to know if there's any "Don't Miss" caches I should do. I have been checking out caches using pocket queries and there looks like a great variety of caches down there. I'm also interested in caches I can do in the evening since I'll be in class from 8:30 - 5:30 each day. Thanks in advance for any tips you can pass along.

  3. Our kids are:

Male, 20 - has found a few with us if we stop while traveling. Otherwise he's to busy chillin' with his friends.

Female, 18 - likes to cache and says she wants to go again with us if she can fit us into her busy schedule.

Male, 16 - football, football, football - 'nuff said B)

Donna and I enjoy caching alone since it gives us a chance to get out of the house without the kids B)

  4. Here's a link for one I found that you can print on Avery 5167 labels.

    CITO Label

I have a different format that I use - it has the CITO logo on it and prints on two up Avery labels. Unfortunately I can't find the link for it right now B). Hopefully someone will post it. If no one does I can email you a copy of it when I get home tonight.

Thanks for being interested in this practice. I leave at least one in every cache that I find. Hopefully it's making a difference.

  5. Hi, my name is person B and I'm an icon junkie. There I said it, let the healing process begin B)

I have done exactly what UOTrackers described, though it may not have been with the same cache. I typically check for TBs and coins for caches here in my area and if I see one holding a coin or other trackable that I haven't found yet I'll quite likely make a trip to the cache to retrieve it so I can score that icon on my profile page. When I do this I always place the trackable into another cache as soon as I can. For example when I grabbed a white jeep recently I didn't even bring it home. I grabbed it from cache A, wrote down the tracking number and dropped it in cache B on the way home.

Some folks play the game to get first to finds I play it to move travel bugs and score new icons. Do you consider the practice as I have described it above to be rude or unfair to others?

  6. Am I the only one who thinks it's egotistical to expect the finder of the TB to wait for the vacationer who dropped the TB to find a computer?

Uh, yeah, I think so. At least your the first person I've ever seen take the position you're taking. The issue I see with not waiting is your only option is to grab the TB from the current holder and not retrieve it from the cache so that TB doesn't get credit and mileage for being in that cache. Unless you grab it and then dip it in the cache before moving it along. I see no problem at all with logging a note on the TB page stating that you've taken possession of the TB and are waiting for the previous holder to log the drop off.

  7. B) Posted a picture with my TB. Wife pointed out TB associated animal was a cat, not a bear. I have posted the same picture with a Cat name, but would like to delete the other picture and name. Hate to have people think I can't tell a cat from a bear (which obviously I can't).

If you go to the TB page (I'm assuming this is one of your TBs) just above the Travel Bug History logs you'll see the Gallery of images. Next to the images that you've uploaded you should see [Edit]. Click that link and you can delete the image. Now if you did this for someone else's TB, I'm not sure if you can delete the image yourself or not.

  8. Here's a copy of the response I received from Ben in response to my question.

I asked "Quick question regarding the Singal series (there's a discussion about this topic on the Groundspeak forums). Will these coins have their own icon and tracking number? On the web site it appears as if these coins just get a normal 6-digit tracking number like normal travel bugs do."

    His repsonse

"The Signal Geocoins will have a tracking number just like any other GC.com Trackable geocoin. They will have the prefix of SG. They are described as "Travel Bug" codes because not everyone understands that the Travelbugs and Geocoins are tracked the same way. I am sure that Groundspeak will add an icon for the coins, but I am not sure if it will be a new icon every month."

  9. Greetings,

Could you add another column to the TB Page that shows the TBs current state/country. It would be great to see at a glance where each of the TBs listed on that page is currently hanging out.

    Thanks for considering it.

P.S. While you implement this fix the mileage problem - the TB owners are starting to get restless over not having mileage.

  10. In my area cachers will put "phoned a friend for help" in the log. I don't see a problem with that.

Too bad they don't publish numbers so when the rest of us get stuck we'd have someone to call :). This would help especially when caching out of your local area.
