  1. Also, anyway of making an cache type for events?

Not sure what you mean. The first conversion mode in the dialog keeps the types and if it gets its hands on an event-cache, it will display that normally in Google Earth. Just tested that.

I think Crusso is asking for a special icon to represent event caches.

  2. Because of the fact it sidesteps the 500 limit rule and would cause a huge resource load on the servers if it was set to just run every week. Its intention is to run when you need it and not at any other time.

Ah, excellent point! When you have some free time how about creating a "My Finds in the last 7 days" that we could run weekly to download only our latest finds.

  3. I was wonder if Groundspeak would add the TBXXXX and current mission to the description element of the travel bug KML file. Since we don't have PQs for travel bug information including this information in the KML file would allow me to extract it from the KML file instead of having to manually enter it for the travel bugs I keep track of.

    Thanks for considering it.

  4. Just a quick clarification. I know we can create PQs with travel bugs in 'em. What I'm talking about is a PQ that contains just travel bug info such as TBXXXX number, Mission statement, GCXXXX identifier for cache currently located, and all pickup/dropoff logs.

I looked at the TB KML file that you can load into Google and it has most of the information I would like. I will ask if Groundspeak will add the TBXXXX number and current mission to the description field in the file.

  5. Just passing along info that I received this morning. Beta 4.06 is out with the following changes:

    * Adds drawing of dark green paths in Topo Great Britain maps.

    * Improves appearance of certain map labels.

    * Properly preserves geocache symbols as assigned in previous software versions.

    * Sounds anchor drag alarm until reset by the user rather than sounding just a single tone.

    * Shows proper units when reviewing depth contours on the map page.

  6. Log Entry

I guess it goes to show there's always hope the TB will turn up. I'm not sure what it is but this month seems to be the month of missing bugs moving again. One of mine that was idle for over a year finally started moving again.

  7. Has the topic of having pocket queries for travel bugs been discussed before? I did a search and didn't come up with anything :D. I would dearly love to have pocket queries of for travel bugs. If I start a topic over in the geocaching.com forum will you folks come over there and add your "I want this too" replies?

  8. You could try using the advanced search option on the travel bug page but there's no way to limit the search to a specific location. What I normally do is find the zip code for where I will be traveling to see which caches have travel bugs in them. I then look at each TB to see if it has a mission that I can help with and if so I grab it and move it along.

  9. For Buyers:

Why do so many of the rest of you buy personal signature coins of cachers you have never met, have never visited the same cache as, never actually spoken to, have very little in common with?

If people sold wooden nickels would you buy them? if not, what is the difference?

Beyond cost, what makes a sig coin more valueable than a sig token or wooden nickel to you?

Why is trackability so important when 90% will never see a cache?

(except maybe some of the 100 the owner got for free because 400 were sold to pay for them)

I buy based upon the look of the coin. If it catches my eye then I'm most likely to buy one or I will buy to help support charity or a fallen geocacher. I do need to cut back though, I just realized I've spent about 60 bucks so far this month on coins and there's one going on sale in 16 minutes that I plan to buy. Just because I have not met a cacher face to face has no bearing to me. I feel I know alot of cachers based upon conversations we've had in the forums.

I have wooden nickels and trade 1:1 for others. I would not buy one.

Trackability is important to me because I do release coins. Donna and I put 4 into caches today. I don't release the actual coin because it is more likely to go missing but I do put out replicas with the tracking number so they can be logged by others. This is why I normally buy at least two coins. One to release and one to keep for our collection.

As previously mentioned I plan to cut back on my coin purchases. For the $60 I've spent for 6 coins I could have 16 travel bug tags.

  10. Some folks hate to admit defeat so instead of logging a DNF they don't log anything until they can log a find. Me, I'm proud of my DNFs and log 'em all ;). I also watch them like Latitude 32 does to see if it was just me or if there are cache issues that prevented me from finding it. I'm heading out tomorrow to attempt one I DNF'd yesterday. Someone found it today so I know it's there.

  11. It's always good to hear when TBs get moving again. The TB I released in honor of my mom Take me to Camden is on the move again after behing held for about 17 months.

AuntieWeasel: You really, really need to come out with a personal coin of your avatar. I'd love to have one

  12. Completely agree.

(although I plan to log a M10B coin by my caching efforts in the field, not an event. Just a goal of mine.)

I haven't logged the M10B coin yet. The angel and devil cachers are on my shoulders arguing over it . To be honest I kind of feel like I'm cheating by logging coins at events.

  13. I tried searching but came up empty . I'm trying to find a graphic image of the camo version of Not Another Micro geocoin. I would like front and back so I can create a replica of the real coin I have so I can release it. Thanks for any help!
