I recently bought two "Trekking Poles" as they are called at the local Target department store for about $20.00 each. They collapse for easy storage and can expand to a maximum height of 53 inches. Zack

Horizontal the majority of the time.

I started out with an EMap before upgrading to the 60C. My daughter now uses the EMap when we go out hunting. Zack

I don't look for anything in particular, except travel bugs . I look at what's in the cache and if something looks interesting to me I'll trade for it. Donna and I struggled trying to find something unique that we could trade. Originally we started out with red/white fishing bobbers (kind of lame, I know) but now I trade mini carabiners. I figure if nothing else someone may want one to hold their keys while out hunting. The primary thing I really want to find when hunting for a cache is the cache Zack

I think they may sell, though I wouldn't buy any. I like being able to track my TB's and caches through a single web site. Zack

Try pressing the center rocker switch straight down. I have been able to make the backlight come on using that technique. I'm not sure if it's documented or not in the book but it seems to work for me Zack

Bob, Download EasyGPS - even if you don't use it to upload waypoints to your GPS you can still use it to keep track of your waypoints, etc. It has the ability to display the coordinates with just lat and long. I use this option alot when I'm mapping out day long geocaching trips. In EasyGPS go to File -> Preference -> Coordinates tab Zack

You can do this now if you would like. There's no link, but, if you look on the address line in your browser you'll see this option "&numlogs=5" - just change the number from 5 to 10 or 15, click on the "Go" button (assuming you're using internet explorer) and you'll have the print friendly version with the number of logs requested. Just don't let anyone else know you can do this, ok Zack

I have the 60C and have been very impressed with it. Would you please clarify on thing for me regarding the compass. When you say hold it up do you mean you should have the GPS in a vertical position instead of horizontal for the compass work properly? I normall hold the GPS parallel to the ground at all times.... Greetings, I just wanted to share a little milestone my wife Donna and I reached today. Eariler this month we were in Bermuda and found two virtual caches placed by The VNI Venturers. Today we found the third virtual cache they placed in Savannah, GA. I thoght that was pretty cool given the distance between the two caches in Bermuda and the one in Savannah. Zack

GatoRX: We did the Famous Neighbors cache today before leaving town - it was our last find in Savannah. Zack

Do You Have Caching Plans For The Holiday Weekend?
ZackJones replied to 2GeoGrannies's topic in General geocaching topics
Wife Donna, stepdaugheter Steffanie and I are heading down to Savannah early Friday to do some caching that day and on Saturday. Zack -
The fact that the USB version does not support NMEA is a deal killer for me I have been looking at these for use in the car but I want to be able to use it with programs that don't support Garmin's proprietary format. Zack

Greetings, I'll be down in Savannah, GA this coming Friday and Saturday. Anyone want to hook up and go hunting? Zack
-
Visit the page for the cache and in the upper right hand corner is an option to log your visit. Good Luck! Zack

Jeremy, You probably already know this but make sure you open the connection as late as possible and close it as soon as you possibly can. Failure to close a connection leaves it open. There's some other things you can do as well. I know some of the site is done with ASP.NET - are you using C# or VB.NET? Zack

Hypercubed: Does it work with 2004? I downloaded the latest version and when I click on it nothing happens Zack

Greetings, Just a quick enhancement request for the My Cache Page. It would be nice if you could add the date of last find to the cache find log. I like to keep up with who has found cache's around the same time I've found them and being able to see this extra info would make that easy. Thanks for considering it. Zack

I'm in Warner Robins which is about 15 miles south of Macon. Zack

robertlipe: You are correct - a "donut" is what I'm looking for. I'll check out the gpsbabel program. Thanks! Zack
-
ralann, Yes, you are correct. For me I would like to be able to search from zip 31088 minimum 25 miles to a maximum of 35 miles. The search results would include only those caches that fall within that 10 mile radius. Zack
-
Greetings, Would it be possible to modify the radius search feature so that you could specify a range to seardch within. For example I would like to be able to search a range that's between 25 - 35 miles from my zip. I realize I can perform two separate searches and get rid of the dupes but why not let the web site do that for me Thanks for considering it. Zack

Greetings, FWIW, I received an error this afternoon after buying some travel bugs. I clicked on the 4 pack link, paid through PayPal and once the transaction was complete I received an HTTP 405 error when PayPal tried to return me to the Geocaching web site. If it'll help any the error occured at 6:21 EST today 5/18/04 Zack

Hi Joel, Is 4.01 close enough? If so make me an offer. Zack

Greetings, Is it possible to determine who the local (Macon - Warner Robins) area cache approver is? I have an idea for a virtual cache and would like to discuss the topic with him or her prior to collecting the coordinates over several days, etc. Thanks! Zack
