  1. Ole: Please post some TBXXXX numbers and I'll take a look at the KML file for you.
  2. The apostrophes aren't casuing the problem with the kml file for Who am I. If you view the kml file with a program like notepad and scroll down to line 104 which is the 1/2/2005 log for for Famara you'll find an accented character in the log. That's causing the file to generate an error. The word causing the problem is this one "We´ve" if you change it to "We've" you should be good to go. While you're at it change "Nekhbets" to "Nekhbet's".
  3. I've met fellow cachers twice. The first time we were heading towards the cache and as we passed the guy he said "It's still there". We stopeed introduced ourselves and I've gone caching with he and his daughter a few times. Just yesterday I met another couple. I know they were cachers when I saw the GPS. I asked if they wanted some help in the hunt and they said sure so we hunted together.
  4. Be warned - you are about to enter a habit forming activity. I'm down to one non-activated TB and just had to order another 8 pack . On the Main TB Page look on the right hand side and you'll see Get Your Own Travel Bug which takes you to the page where you can order. Good Luck!
  5. I'm certain you meant the word guy here. To stay on topic - when I approach the cache area and see that it's in someone's front yard 9 times out of 10 I'll keep on going. The one time I would stop would be if it has a travel bug in it and I want to get that travel bug. Edit: Fix quoting.
  6. Try to get some press for the event. Especially press that empahsizes the good aspects of caching - CITO, proper trail usage, etc. I second the idea for the coin or consider wooden nickels as well. T-shirt - so, so idea, I would think. Some other ideas... Hold intro to caching seminars for new folks that are interested in trying it for the first time. Have caching guides to take newbies out for an easy hunt. Print maps of various cache types - All Micros, All multi's, etc.
  7. Good point. I have a couple of TBs that want to visit as many caches as possible and state on the TB page that's it's quite OK for the person currently holding to dip the TB in each cache they find. The only drawback to dipping when you're on a cache run is it generates a bunch of email for the owner, but hey, it's easy to hit the delete key
  8. Start by emailing someone from Jeep. Perhaps a marketing person or someone like that. I'm working one having some wooden nickels made and want to use one of the images from my GPS on it. I emailed Garmin explaining what I wanted to use the image for and within a few days I received a reply granting me permission to use the image.
  9. No kudzu but there were plenty of briars.
  10. Interesting discussion. For kicks I ran a PQ for the state of Georiga. We currently have 243 caches marked as unavailable. A few have been that way for 6 months or more.
  11. If the TB wants to visit as may caches as possible I'll dip it in any cache that I find. I think the only cache where you were not allowed to dip a TB was a locationless cache.
  12. Check out what I CITO'd today while hunting for a cache. I can see perhaps finding one but after seeing the first and then the second and then the third and the file nearby I was glad to sign the log and get the heck out of dodge. The cache was Vaughn Briar Patch 2.0
  13. The GPS Store I bought my 2610 and 60c from them and will be buying my X model from them as well.
  14. Here's what I have come up with so far for TB Motels/Hotels/Caches in the South If you folks want I can start an international one. Just post or send me the GCXXXX codes for them
  15. Uh, just a guess but how about www.geico.com
  16. My wife isn't as addicted as I am but she is taking a speach class this semester and said that for her informative speach she was going to do it on Geocaching
  17. Cache Pack: Your TB won't have its own icon like the Jeeps do. When you drop it in a cache that cache will automatically have a TB icon assigned and displayed when folks view cache listings.
  18. Ok, so after looking into bookmarks I can only create a max of 10 with a max of 100 caches on the list so I guess the list should be broken up by regions I think I'll work in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina. If space permits on the list I'll add other states to mine.
  19. Excellent. Did you guys ever hire a developer?

    Tb Hotels

Greetings, I was thinking about creating a publically shared bookmark for travel bug hotels. If you folks would like to help please email or post here the GCXXXX numbers for TB hotels that you know about. Thanks in advance for your help.
  21. Yes, of course were, searching for caches that is
  22. If those folks emailed you through gc.com and were abusive you can report them. Personally I think AR should be out taking care of his temporarily disabled caches instead of complaining about yours
  23. Over in the Geocoin section someone mentioned they were having issues with the stats page because they own and have activated several geocoins. While reading the discussion the following idea popped into mind. How about giving users the ability to either show or hide specific items from our stats page such as if a specific Geocoin should be shown or not. This idea could be extended to the lists of caches found. Suppose for some crazy reason I don't want folks to know how many multi-caches I've found. Let me toggle that display option off. Along these same lines if you log a Waymark does it add any type if icon under your finds? If not can you add that capability? Thanks for considering it.
  24. I think a possible solution to the problem would be if the GC.com web site were modified to allow each user to have the ability to specify which coins and caches for that matter do and do not show up on our profile page. Heck make this a premium member feature. Would that help you folks out? I don't have the problem 'cause I only own one geocoin
  25. Wow, that's wild! Here's my DNF log for Hitchiti Trail I did go bad not too long after that and was able to find the right place to park.
