  1. Thanks but I had already set up my Geocaches. Anyway I loaded them again last night and this morning they're still there so I'll just have to see what happens now. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
  2. I guess it won't harm to turn it on then. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post.
  3. Last night I used Geocaching.com to find a number of geocaches in the area I was planning to walk today. I hit the "Send to GPS" button and they all successfully loaded onto my GPS. Today, I went walking. I turned on my GPS and it of course started to navigate. When I was in the area where I thought one of the geocaches I'd downloaded was located I went to the Geocache page in my menu to find the relevant cache and was going to then navigate to it ......... BUT NONE OF THE CACHES I DOWNLOADED WERE THERE. The unit worked fine apart from this. Can someone please tell me if I did something wrong ?
  4. I'm a newbie to the world of GPS so forgive me if I ask some very basic questions. I have the option to enable/disable WAAS/EGNOS on my new GPS but have no idea what it will give me so can't decide what to do. Any advice/comments appreciated.
  5. Thanks CCC but I read about that in one of the forums here ast night and I had set it to Find by Name, plus the cache was only (it turned out) a hundred yards or so away so even if set to Find by Proximity it would have shown them, wouldn't it? Do you think I have a fault on my new GPS ? I've just downloaded them again to the GPS and will see if they're still there tomorrow. I appreciate your reply. Thanks.

  7. Today I got a new GPS and have managed to "Send to GPS" a few caches straight from Geocaching.com. My problem is that they are all listed as GCXXX1, GCXXX2, GCXXX3, although they do have notes within the details that help identify them. Is there a way that they can be listed with a name other than just the GCXXXX reference ?
  8. So I: - download the 'Garmin Plug In' to my pc - link my gps to my pc - then press "Send to GPS" ..... and that's it ? I reckon I can manage that. Not sure about the Pocket Query feature though. There's a lot of info there to digest. Thank you so much for replying PDOP's.
  9. Tomorrow is my birthday and I'm expecting to receive a Garmin eTrex Venture HC (or someone will be in trouble). On Thursday I plan to go walking around the Yorkshire Dales with a friend .... and my new GPS. As I'm sure to be caught up with birthday festivities tomorrow I'm not going to have much time to work out how to download cache details and wondered if someone could tell me: 1. Whether or not I will need to download any software onto my pc in readiness. 2. In simple terms, how I actually go about dowloading cache details. Any help would be much appreciated. Take pity on me ..... it's not easy at 45 to take up a new techno hobby.
  10. Select "edit" from the list of bookmarks. Then use the Archive Listing button. You can only delete empty bookmarks. Thanks. I've sorted it now.
  11. I'm new to the world of geocaching but have already signed up to become a Premium member because I'm enjoying it so much. I'm still trying to find my way around the Geocaching.com website which is crammed full of useful information ...... but one thing I can't find out how to do is delete a bookmark list from within my bookmarks. I figured out how to delete caches within a list but not the list itself. Can anyone tell me please ?
