I reckon about fifty pounds the lot I'll give you sixty though, cos I'm kind.

I have a 60CS. The sockets on the back are as the last poster says, the usb is extremely quick for loading/unloading waypoints and maps etc, where as the serial port is ideal for connecting to a pc such as a laptop with mapping s/w in the car. I use the USB as above, and have an old lappy running MM and connected via a home made lead through the serial port which also doubles as a power port. This gives me the ability to locate parking and footpath entry points, which tom tom and my ipaq cannot. Therefore I use tom tom to get to the general location, MM to find parking and where the footpath comes to the road, then unplug the 60CS and the ipaq to go to the cache where I use the 60 to find the cache and if I have any problem I have the sheet on my ipaq to decode the clue!!! I have found this little arranngement works fine. On another point, I unlike many others feel that the compass is well worth the extra money, as it really helps when GPS reception is not too hot like in woods. The altimeter is a bit useless though!!!!!

I can also recommend audacity, I use it for recording streaming audio from the net, and it will even turn it into MP3 with a little additional plug-in.

I also think that the bags are a waste of time but still tend to leave them on (as long as they dont seem to present a danger to wildlife, as I believe it is up to the cache owner to decide. I actually found one cache container that was a di-used pringle tube (waterproof it is not) which provided amusement upon finding and unwinding!!!!! At the end of the day I guess it is up to the cache placer, but they just seem so pointless and cause more harm than good.

I have a 60CS and export directly from GSAK, both en-masse and singularly.

Tried this, now my milk is warm!!!! and the wife is not going to be happy.

If someone wanted to do a charity cache, why would they just not list it as any old cache and then have a note within the box itself to ask for a copper or two and nobody would be any the wiser

I have been using Tom tom now for about a year, both for caching and my job. I use the TT3 to get me to the location area and also have a laptop running MMap to find any relevant footpaths and then a recreational GPS to get to the actual box. I have found TT3 to be an excellent piece of software and has only found a road that didnt exist once, as I remember it was a left turn somewhere near a virtual cache about a wind farm in Yorkshire area.

I also got stung for import duty. I paid about the same as that and then got hit for £58. I guess it is up to you in the end. I would ask how come a unit in the states has the europe basemap on though???

I think you may need a rucksack for that stamp, at a l;ittle over a foot square. Must start using bigger Notebooks!!!!!

I have a cache in the coastal town of Cherbourg. It is only a micro but can be done with about a 15 min walk from the ferry port

But if you find a cheap etrex legend go for it a little harder, that high res screen is worth its weight in waas

I placed a cache a couple of days ago and placed it on the only hill in the area which had snow. While I was there a news company were filming a news report about the bad weather.

I wonder if anyone can help me here. How can you define a commercial cache??? If I were to set up a cache which mentioned 'red nose' would this be allowed due to it being a charity which is I guess commercial. On the other hand, if I were to set up a cache which was sponsored by a major national film company say 20th Century Fox and the cache basically advertised their wares like the title of one of their films then would that be commercial???

IMHO I think it qualifies as a mystery if it has something of note or unusual at the location that is not covered in the description. Again this is a very fine line as one mans/womans object of note is anothers waste of time!! I made a cache of my own a mystery (GCMCHF) because I felt that what was hidden in the bush was well worthy of a mention but would be a nice bonus for visiting what is a very easy cache to find. I guess it is all about perception, whereas some are obviously multis, one near the new forest called 'squirrels nest' is probably one of the nicest I have been to especially as I have children who cache with me at the weekend.

I use GSAK but my problem is, I have tried to use GPX sonar, but I am left with the choice of breaking down the country into vary many chunks, or using e books which come with pocket queries. Unfortunately I cannot generate e books so I wanted to be able to use my pocket queries allocation to get e books gegraphically (based around centres) and just one one querie a week for an updated GPX file. I would like to use GPX sonar but it is very slow when you use big files, and as my job means I travel throughout the UK and scotland, I like to carry lots of caches with me ready to do. This paperless caching is getting very hard to do.

I tried to do a cache yesterday which was listed as a regular cache, which by my reckoning means that the co-ordinates of the cache should be precisely that, where the box is. Unfortunately when you opened GPX sonar and read on it said 'this is the co-ordinates of the parking space, the actual cache is.......' Now I know that this is still a regular because no clues etc have to be solved, but what is the point of telling me where a road to park on is, I can work that bit out for myself. It is fair enough to list some sugested places to park in the description, but this seems a little misleading. I have all the regular caches loaded into my GPS (980 of themnearest to my home) and also in my TOM TOM. This means that in theory I can just stop if I am passing and do a quickie!!! To make matters worse the co-ordinates for this one were also out which placed the parking space about 150 feet into a wood, which sugested even more that it wasn't a parking space. I personally feel that the co-ordinates of the cache listing should represent the cache location if it is a regular cache and then if the cache owner wants to be kind and use his/her local knowledge to help us out with a parking space then all well and good.

I wonder if any of you clever people can help me here (helps to start off with a creep!!) I run pocket queries in line with the dates on the well known PDF about paperless caching. My problem is, if I enter a querie that only requests caches updated in the last seven days, then I would like all caches that are unarchived or listed. Unfortunately what it appears to do is produce any cache that is logged as found, not found etc during that period and exceeds the 500 limit. I dont think that there is any solution to this, but before I have a paddy can anyone help.

With roads and recreation the tiles are smaller so you vcan be a little more selective about what you put on. They all seem to work on any GPS by garmin as long as it is a mapping one, I am using metroguide 6 on my 60cs and it works ok as I dont need the routing that city select gives you because I have tom tom.

I was doing one in London, something like an abandoned railway line, when I fell off a very large log. I couldnt save myself because I was holding my new GPS. I fell about 6 feet into a load of wood,rocks and prickles. The GPS was ok though, I heal, the GPS costs money!!!!

I have had both a legend and an emap. The legend is far superior to the emap in most ways. The screen resolution of the emap is very low compared to the legend. The one advantage of the emap that I could see is the use of data cartridges, where the legend has internal (nonupgradeable) memory. Although saying that the cartridges cost an arm and a leg and a kidney ...........etc. My choice (as it was) would be to pay the little extra and go for the legend.
