  1. haha it was a bit embarassing, but halarious and i had to post this. This was in PA and i figured since i was laughing like crazy, you guys could too. I was looking all over for this cache, while at the same time trying to hold in an action which is what my Geo Name is. Anyway.....was leaning against a tree after a frusterating few 25 mins of looking for the cache. I went way off the trail to be sure nobody saw me. Sure enough, i squat down almost right on top of the cache. Here are the logs, read mine, PooMan first, and the 2 above it after. June 6, 2004 by Hans&Gret (13 found) Found this one on the second try. I think Gret stepped in Pooman's poo! Took the Blue Hippo, and left a Terminator 2 keychain. [view this log on a separate page] June 4, 2004 by caboron (41 found) Wow, what a walk!! I walked from my hotel since I had all day there and it took me two and a half hours to get there. Once I got there, I had no problem finding it (Container was hidden well). I guess I didn't know the back-way in there, so I had to do a little rock climbing to get to the top. Nice falls! I took the "Alan Iverson" TB and the "Romulan Warbug" TB along with a DVD-RW CD. I left a kids kazoo and 6 marbles. [view this log on a separate page] June 2, 2004 by PooMan (111 found) Looked all over and coordinates were way off. they were all over the place. just happened to stumble by the box while looking for a tree to fertalize. It was a quick hike and the falls were pretty cool. Too bad there was all the spray paint. The third set of coordinates were the closest. but it was about 50-60 feet from where the coordinates were. Left allen iverson travel bug. thanks PooMan. The coordinates i saved when i was standing next to the cache were
  2. I had my 60csx out today and all i have to say is the accuracy is 10-11 feet is good enough for me. How quickly it acquired satalites was amazing. also, today was foggy, and you couldn't even see the blue sky and it still had 10-11 foot accuracy. Garmins website says this unit is capable of getting 3 meters accuracy. 10-11 feet. there's the 3 meters. I'm a happy camper.
  3. Why dont these things have a temperature sensor in them!?
  4. Just took my 60csx outside to see what kind of accuracy i could get in the clear blue skies of Northeastern PA. in just a few seconds, it got down to +-10 foot accuracy. I waited about a minute and it wasn't getting any better, but wasn't getting any worse. I had 7 sats locked on, and one was at half power, and one at quarter power. Didn't notice if 35 was locked on or not. The descriptions of these units say they are "accurate to within 3 meters". So does this mean that i shouldn't expect it to get less than 9 feet accuracy? i'll take 9 feet accuracy any day. What i like about the 60csx is that it gets sat reception much easier. I'll take 15 foot accuracy on a beautiful day with no leaves on the trees and open skies, as long as it keeps like 20 foot accuracy under deep tree cover and on cloudy days. it kept 25 foot accuracy under my fleece jacket. I'll accept that. Now get me a 2 gig card for it!
  5. I'm using a 60csx with city select navigator for the turn by turn. I use this to get to the parking coords. I then use a palm m500 for paperless caching and to keep hints, description, cords, and past logs. works like a charm I would really reccomend a palm m500 for caching. It has everything you need, and nothing you dont. Cost me 30$ with the cradle, unit, pen, and software. Then i just bought cachemate ($8), GSAK ($20), and i am happy. Also have an Otterbox for my palm to keep it dry. After i ran for an hour in the rain one day when i got stuck on a geocache, had to shove it in my pants to keep it dry.
  6. I'd get a beanbag mount for your front window of your car, cigarette lighter, city select navigation for turn by turn, external antenna for car use (just for the hell of it), and download Cachemate onto your m500. Then use Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK), to organize and download the caches into your gps and PDA.
  7. I took my new 60csx out today for a 3 mile hike to see what kind of new features i could find out about it. First off, i love how the satalites grabbed reception in just a few seconds. Also, the best part was i was able to hook it to my belt, and cover it over with my fleece and still get reception. Before, i had to always have the antenna exposed to the sky with my 60cs. The icons, i am not too happy about, they look like icons you'd find on a gps from Toys R Us. I like how the letters turn from capital letters to smaller case letters when typing. I realized that that reception was never less than +- 14 feet. Other than it was like 22 feet accuracy. Far worse than my 60cs which would get down to 3-4 feet accuracy. I think i noticed a few more games too. goodie. I am going to be ticked if this thing doesn't connect with gsak easily. That will be a bummer. Also, the SD card only actually holds 59.4mb memory (i think) , instead of the 64 as advertised. More reviews to come as i use it more often.
  8. I wont part out anything, But i will just sell the unit if that is what you're looking for. I'm looking to sell the unit mainly. if it doesn't go, no extras go. Let me know. PooMan
  9. This is a unit i bought awhile ago that was used mainly for car use. It is in great shape, with no scratches on the display or any real signs of wear and tear. Free 2-3 day shipping. This auction includes: 1. Garmin GPSmap 60cs 2. Garmin Windshield mount adapter 3. Garmin Dashboard mount (bean bag style) 4. Garmin Cigarette lighter power cord 5. Garmin USB cord 6. 56mb Turn By Turn Directions downloaded to the region in which you live * On the back of the battery cover, i had written my phone number in marker in case i had lost it. It can probably easily be removed. Also, the rubber on the antenna has a small tear in it. It ripped once, and Garmin replaced it free, they will probably do the same again. All Payments must be by Paypal or Money Order. All Paypal payments to Dveneski@adelphia.net All Payments within 7 days. E mail with all questions I will ship priority 2-3 day mail for free to any states in the USA! Will only ship to the USA. No exceptions. Price: $359
  10. Can i download benchmarks with my pocket quaries? i dont see the option for them....?
  11. Since he has IPAQ and not Palm OS, are there any differences between the two? I use my palm m500 with GSAK and Cachemate. From what i've read it seems he can do the same, but maybe will have to use gpxview on his unit instead of cachemate. Are there any twists to having an IPAQ in the downloading pocket quaries, loading to GSAK and then Hot Syncing process to the PDA if you have IPAQ instead of Palm OS? PooMan
  12. Wakeboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, scuba diving, working, working out, school work, and sometimes i ditch my girlfriend for a new cache.
  13. I have used my gps on every flight. I like to see what cities wer are above when i see lights and stuff at night. One time i got yelled at, the other time they said it was ok to use. Either way now, i dont bother asking. i just try to avoid direct eye contact from the flight people.
  14. I am using the search by waypoint, or sort by waypoint option on my Cachemate on my palm. How is this organizing them though? They dont seem to be sorted by the closest waypoints next to one another in the list of caches. What's the deal with these?
  15. Can i save maps or anything into my Palm M500 that i just bought? Or is it basically going to just save all the cache listings and details of the caches? Let me get this straight...I must download all the waypoints into my gps, then download all the cache descriptions into my palm. Then once i get somehwere, i just clik on my gps, see what caches i'm near, then find the description of those on my PDA, right?
  16. with that palm m500, will i need any other cables or anything besides what i would get in a normal e bay auction? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...mMakeTrack=true
  17. compatable with my 60cs that takes a usb cord would be nice....
  18. Ok, i'm interested! What kind should i be looking for, i really know nothing about them at all.... i figure i could get a decent one on ebay for cheap.
  19. I keep hearing about palms and stuff liek that. i know what they are, but how do you use them for geocaching? just to keep track of what you have done and stuff? Basically like instead of having a print out, you just take that along with you? You can't get them to receive satalite reception and tell you which caches you're close to, can you? Thanks PooMan
  20. hey everybody, i have hidden about 6 or so caches. mainly traditional. I just hid a pretty cool one, which i can't mention yet because it's still being approved. Anyway...i just wanted you guys to tell me some of the coolest traditional caches that you have done. Hopefully you guys are al far enough away that maybe i can set one up like you have in your area, where i live. The coolest one i have seen so far was a pulley system, where the cache was about 50 feet off the ground hanging in a tree. PooMan
