Thats a good idea. I'll try that one next time out. As for reception, now that I think of it I, I was in a valley so that may be the cause(Duh!).

Does snow effect signal strength more than other types of precipitation? I was just caching with a gentle snowfall and it didn't seem to great. This is my first try with a new gps so I don't know how well it performs. Also, what ediquette should I follow when caching with snow on the ground? Is it not a good idea because of leaving telltale tracks?

I don't know how cold it was on Sunday morning, but my hands were so cold it was hard to write in the log of the cache that only took 20 min to find.

I'm thinking I'll keep the Sporttrak. Thanks for the input.

I'm having trouble figuring out if I should return the Sporttrak Map I just bought. I did'nt realize it didn't have a magnetic compass. I just did my first couple caches using a Etrex Summit I barowed from my father. I guess I got hooked on having a compass. The Geko 301 has most of the same features as the Summit but is nice and small. But it does'nt have maping. Any help would be great.
