  1. Hey Stunod, Do you ever make it to any Chicago Wolves AHL games? I was thinking about starting an AHL travel bug, and could use some help. Completely off topic! Bad Cherokeecacher, bad.
  2. I think the Color currently has a $50 rebate, making the final price $219. The rebate jumps to $75 if you buy a MapSend product, too. I bought my MeriPlat from Harmony about a year ago. Good prices and service. You “think” slightly correct. The rebate ended yesterday. I have not seen anything about Magellan extending it, but hey, I do not know everything
  3. Thanks for the info. That is a good deal, but Meridian Color $269.00, Meridian Gold $189.00, and Meridian Platinum $249.00 are also good deals on new, under full one year warranty, units. Tough call. Does the retailer offer an extended warranty you can purchase on the refurbished units?
  4. A what? Yup, but that was easily accomplished, not like the old days. Does that make me a nerd or something, that I actualy filed for one? LOL
  5. Chalk another one up to durability! Toddler Drop Test? Check, passed with flying color
  6. That is a good deal! Just FYI. I have found the 5710 series at Sam’s and Costco for $50.00. The bundle is the same, but the 5710’s are FRS/GMRS. Either way you go, I think you should be happy. Heck, at that price I might buy a few to go with the 6 5710’s I have
  7. Oh, is this the “new and improved” Indian Guides? I would suggest the leaders picking a spot, any spot, and hiding 5 or so items for each of the smaller groups. Then give the waypoints to the smaller groups and set them free, with supervision of coarse, to go find their list of waypoints. You could even make it a competition by assigning point values to each item. Example: Red chips are worth 25 points; white chips are worth 15 points…
  8. If you decide to replace it, this sounds like a good deal$189.00 for meriGold
  9. Have you looked at the CamelBack brands? They have a variety of sizes and price tags. Michelle and I love being able to carry our “stuff” and having water.
  10. Check this price out MeriGold This seems like a better deal, and for an extra 30 bucks or so you have two GPSr's
  11. Read This thread. It will give you a good suggestion on what to do to your new SporTrack when it comes in. Ok, I will tell you. You should SLIGHTLY loosen the screws. Still read the thread so you understand why, and what to keep your eyes on.
  12. Thanks alot buddy, you just cost me $100.00 in watches. LOL Cool site and service. Thanks for sharing
  13. The Motorola I88s phone is GPS enabled. It can work with Microsoft and Delorme mapping software when connected to a laptop computer, or like device. It uses the standard NMEA format. the phone itself only gives Lat. and Lon. on it's screen. I would probably not buy this phone just to have this feature, especially for Geocaching. The 45-meter accuracy could prove frustrating in the field. But as a backup devise for finding my way around a part of town I am not familiar with, it could very well do the trick. This is just a “bell and whistle” future and is only accurate to 45 meters. They also tell you at slow speeds it does not always get correct/current updates from sats. Read more here pgs 93 - 103 I hope this helps.
  14. If anyone is looking to upgrade, here is a great deal. Mericolor for only $269.00 before the $75.00 rebate check it out here edited to correct the addy
  15. Yup. I noticed the same add in the Houston paper today. Seems like a very good price. But, I saw an online price of $285.00 for the Meridian Color, which gives the advantage of the removable SD cards for memory. Just FTI to shoppers. But wait, ther is more. ( soory I have alwayd wanted to say that) I just went to the web site to post the addy and it is now only $269.00 before the $75.00 rebate. That is a GREAT price.See for yourself
  16. I guess this is where a lot of people might see this. If it is the wrong place, sorry, maybe an admin will move it.. TC2004 Come one come all
  17. CC58, please repost your great example photo on the other thread. I think more people will see it if we keep every thing in one area. Great shot of the cracks, it should help others properly inspect their own GPSr
  18. Yes you can. Most “major” FRS/GMRS radio manufacturers use the same set of FCC approved frequencies 467.???? And 462.????. I am not sure how this works when using the “privacy codes”, these are sub channels. You can go to the Garmin site and view the users manual for the rhinos. On page 74, of the Rhino 110 users guide, they have a list of the frequencies. I compared them to my Motorola T5710 frequencies. Hope this helps you out.
  19. What is the date code? you will find the D/C inside the battery compartment. the code is 3302. i've been very happy with the unit - so much so that i'm upgrading to the STP (refurb @ cost ~same as STM) . Thanks for the up-date Do not get me wrong. I loved mine, but I was nearing the end of my 30 period with the retailer and had to make a decision, leave the SporTrack family and move to the Meridian, or stay with the SporTrack family. After reading some of the posts in the other thread, I decided that Thales had not “fixed” the problem, and there was no way I was going to get in an endless loop of sending it in for a new case every couple of months, and then one day they tell me it is no longer under warranty. The folks at Thales were very nice, and placed a call to the retailer so I would not get hit with a 15% restocking fee . I hope I made the correct decision and the larger size of the Meridian does not drive me up a wall. I had less than 18 hours to decide. When they fix the problem, I plan on buying another Pro for Michelle to use. I hope it is soon; she is already threatening to “confiscate mine.
  20. What is the date code? you will find the D/C inside the battery compartment.
  21. I own and use 6 Motorola Talkabout T5710’s. These are FRS/GMRS 15 channels are 1 watt and 7 are .5 watt. I have used them for about a year now, and have had no problems with them. Michelle and I use them on the Mountain Bikes, geocaching, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Drum Corps Shows, and other events that I have been involved with. I found them at Sam’s Wholesale Club as a ‘bundle” that included 2 radios, rechargeable battery packs, charger, and ear buds. One thing I like about them is when the rechargeable packs go out, I can use AAA batteries until I can recharge the packs. Sam’s and Costco have had the bundles for under $50.00. as Criminal stated, your "best" sending and receiving will come from a 2 watt radio. But in hilly terain, any signall will be much shorter. If cost is no issue, I think Motorola finally released their portable repeater system
  22. I have not been to Nova Scotia since 1985. My high school Hockey Team from Maine played in a weekend tourney. All I remember is beer, boards, and blades. LOL I have lived in Houston, Texas since 1987, but Michelle and I are planning a trip up that way this summer. If someone will handle the maintenance, maybe we will leave one or two.
  23. Not sure how they compare... bike mount $23.00 car mount $19.95 car power cable $9.95 Seee other items here. They also have the mericolor for a cheap price, if anyone is looking Good price on Direct Rout too. Sorry for the extra info
  24. Check this price out. I wish I had known this 3 weeks ago.
