  1. I was looking on youtube earlier and found this: which looked like a bit of fun for a cache hide. However, does this qualify as "buried" or not (as per the guidelines)?
  2. I did a quick google earlier for an online map of Byways so that I can plan some hides of a decent size that will have a nice long-ish walk or cycle, but wasn't getting anywhere. Mainly I could do with a map of these for Carmarthenshire for now. Any help appresciated, I'm probably just typing the wrong thing into the google search box? Cheers, z.
  3. The fact that you call it an Ammo 'Can' and suggest a £4 price, leads me to believe you have been reading posts from our US cousins. Average price for an Ammo 'Box' is indeed £8 from Ebay. At least, thats what I pay for mine. I saw a thread in this section, also the £ sign suggests it wasn't the US members lol
  4. I keep reading that ammo cans are dead cheap etc with figures of £4 etc Where can I get them at that price? On ebay they are double that plus postage
  5. If it's near enough to where you live you could always adopt it? List it up on GC.com
  6. Another OUCH! - caches do cost money, getting buried under rubble must hurt! (The wallet!!)
  7. Cheers for the help. What about basic map software (as you would use if you just wanted to hill walk or trek, rather than import caches etc)? There might be some on the phone or it might just have something really basic that you put in the co-ords and follow the arrow? If not, even that without landmarks, roads, rivers, terrains or anything would be something I guess!
  8. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=464ce7d4-276d-451b-b5f4-4c4c9db86ad7 What are the odds ?!! z.
  9. I have different menus ... I did look in the help section and find some GPS settings, it complained it couldn't find a GPS device so I'm thinking that it will work with a Bluetooth GPS device As for what it will do if I get one and pair it up I don't know, I'm still assuming I will need some mapping software? z.
  10. I'm in the UK, I put the link to Nokia's UK site for the phone Hopefully the phone is the same in any country, it has bluetooth and you can put software on it? Sounds logical anyway! z.
  11. I've got a Nokia 5530 http://www.nokia.co.uk/find-products/all-phones/nokia-5530-xpressmusic/specifications which runs Symbian S60 OS. It doesn't have GPS built in so am I right in assuming a bluetooth GPS receiver would work with the phone? Does anyone know, I don't want to buy one and find out it's no use!! If it does, is there any Open Source / freeware mapping software as the phone doesn't have any apps for anything GPS at the moment? Any help is appreciated as always z.
  12. I'm a few pages into that 92-pge thread already LOL some really cool ideas in there gotta say Thanks for al the replies guys, much appreciated. The ideas are very helpful but the sources aren't as like an idiot I forgot to mention I'm in the UK !! Walmart has bought out our ASDA supermarket chain here but still they don't have the non-food product range that you guys get z.
  13. Has anyone got any tips or sources for making caches for the least money, that will actually last? By the time you buy a top branded sandwich tub or similar, then vinyl "Official Geocache" sticker, then a log, seen laminated stash cards for sale on ebay etc etc it can add up and I'd like to maybe set a few. Keeping the cost per cache down would really help. Also, travel bugs and geocoins seem to be quite expensive! Any cheap sources for items that can be registered on GC? Any ideas, some for each size/class of cache would be great Might have some cash spare to put some gifts in them which is nice if people take the kids to find them! z.
  14. Just saw these ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/260761833635?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570%26_nkw%3D260761833635%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 Item number: 260761833635 Has anyone tried one yet? z.
  15. Start with a few easy ones and build up on the difficulty maybe? Traditional caches is good advice, if you want to do multi stage caches have you got internet access on your mobile phone? If not you could print off the cache page and hopefully complete the cache in one trip z.
  16. Yeah good point about battery life, I have left it with a flat battery for a while and so the capacity will be probably diminished now, and it wasn't great to begin with! As the GPSr wasn't a cheap unit, I hope I find it too!!
  17. Yeah it is a car SatNav, and I haven't tried it yet with co-ordinates so I'll have to see if it snaps to a road or just points which way to walk!
  18. Hi, although I have got a handheld GPS somewhere very safe (in other words I don't know where I've put it) I have got a SatNav that will navigate / guide to a co-ordinate. Is this going to be easy to use for geocaching or not much use? It's a Binatone A350 if that helps at all. z.
  19. Hi, I set up my account a few years ago and am just getting back into geocaching. I know new caches don't get placed very often but how can I get notification of them (by email presumably) when a new cache is listed? I travel between two counties so can I get notifications of more than one area etc / set up more than one alert, that kind of thing? z.
